  1. After failing at my first attempt to properly locate the upper mounts for the rear shocks, looks like I've got something that will work now. A few of the parts I started with. On the lower left are DIY4X lower shock mounts. The brackets on the lower right will mount to the frame. The tube will be drilled, sleeved, and welded to the frame brackets. This is my first attempt at doing anything with round tube. I knew I needed some way to mark two straight lines down the length of the tube offset 180* from each other so that I could get the holes and sleeves as straight as possible. I came up with this jig type thing with a couple of 2x4s and a hole saw. Here is the tube mocked up to check my chop saw notches. The jig also came in handy to hold the tube in place for drilling the holes. Holes drilled and sleeves in place. Sleeves welded in. Tube tacked in place. Lower mounts tacked in place. This is about how it will look when finished. Probably won't get much done for the next couple of weeks. Taking a long weekend to go to Yellowstone. :D Willy
  2. Nope. It means I think he's a great hitter and the Sox could make better use of his bat. Unfortunately it wasn't up to the Red Sox. He was the one who decided to screw over his team, stop hitting, and piss off all of his teammates. Willy
  3. Does this mean that cheating is condoned as long as it is for your team? :hmm: Willy
  4. I don't really prefer that the Yankees win, but at this point they appear to be the only team that actually want to. At least the Phillies finally put together a decent game without booting half the defensive plays. Willy
  5. Nice picture. Is this at Gulches? Willy
  6. That stupid Blackberry commercial raises my blood pressure to unsafe levels. I don't know if I want any of these teams to win. It seems like none of them can do the basics - like play defense or run the bases. East coast games should never start at 8 PM eastern time. Especially when a west coast game was played the same day at 3 PM Pacific time. :huh???: The television networks and Yankees should not dictate the schedule. :fs1: All of these off days are ridiculous. An entire day off is not needed to travel from one home city to the next. These teams have been playing for 6 months with what, 6 days off? And three of those were at the all start break. Why don't we try to finish the world series before I start Christmas shopping. :dunce: Did Chase Utley forget where first base is? Maybe all that crap in his hair is melting his brain. It's not like it hasn't been in the same place the entire season. I like the Phillies, but I think the biggest reason I want them to win is so that Manny Ramirez doesn't. Watching Brad Lidge do everything he can to hand the game to the other team is pure entertainment. Bud Selig is still the devil. He has done absolutely everything he can to ruin the game. He is the George Bush of baseball. Only, unfortunately, we can't vote him out and there are no term limits. :shake: Willy
  7. If it is illegal do NOT go! We have enough trouble trying to keep the legal places open because of stupid behavior like this. :fool: Willy
  8. Welcome. Since you are not new to Jeeps you know to remove those Bushwackers as soon as possible. My eyes hurt just looking at them. It doesn't really look like you have any lift. Willy
  9. The TTC FC! It was pretty cool to see that thing compete in TTC. Too bad he doesn't know how to use the caps lock. Willy

  11. Do the CJ-4 oils still contain the necessary additives or have they been removed? I know the CJ-4 specification removed a lot of the additives to prevent clogging the DPF. Willy At this moment.. the answer is maybe.... In an internal memo from last Janurary Shell had stated that Rotella would be reformulated to meet the newer "clean" diesel applications. Also they have stated that stricter enviromental standards would force all of their lubricant line to be reformulated. But there was no timeline as to when that would happen. And there has not been any message to their retailers as to a change. Yes, this change has already been made. That is what the CJ-4 specification is, the reformulated standard for the new clean diesels with DPFs that use ULS diesel. They removed many of the additives that were beneficial to prior diesel engines to prevent clogging the DPFs. Now it is almost impossible to find any left over CI-4 oils. I had read quite a while back that Valvoline was supposed to produce their old CI-4 formula as their "Classic" oil, but I have yet to find anywhere that actually carries this if it even exists. I not sure that this answers my question. I was specifically wondering if the any of the additives they removed for the CJ-4 specification were what was beneficial to gas engines. Does anybody know if they removed the ZDDP additives for the CJ-4 specification? Willy
  12. Since it is in KM/H and he is in Canada, I am guessing it is from a Canadian Jeep. Willy
  13. Those craptacular hunting Jeeps can be found all over TX. Willy

  15. If you are just trying to get the outer knuckle it is not necessary to remove that nut from the axle shaft. You can remove the three bolts holding the unit bearing on and remove the axle shaft and unit bearing as one. You may want to take a sledge hammer so that you can beat on the ears of the unit bearing assembly to break it loose from the knuckle. Years of rust will prevent it from wanting to separate. I always use plenty of anti-sieze on the unit bearing to knuckle mating surfaces when I put them back together. Willy
  16. I used to think the same thing. I had always read that the ports were in different locations, but never paid attention to if it was the intake or exhaust ports. I just always assumed both were different and never paid much attention to it until I had the HO and Renix Borla headers side by side and noticed they looked exactly the same. I will also say that I don't know if this is true for all brands, only Borla that I know of. I don't remember the specifics, but I think it was Jeepcomj that had clearance issues between one of his header tubes and the intake manifold he was using. Willy
  17. Find a bung that matches the threads of the EGR tube and weld it to one of the header tubes. Borla put it in the tube for cylinder #5. You can see it on the bottom one here. Willy
  18. The CI diesel oil? :hmm: Willy
  19. It will bolt up but the ports won't match. Run the HO head too ;) Not necessarily true. It may depend upon the manufacturer's design, but Borla's HO and Renix headers appear to be the same besides the EGR. Renix on bottom, HO on top. Willy
  20. Clean off all of that RTV, quickly. You are going to clog up your cooling system. You don't need anywhere near that much. Now take off the belt before you put the thermostat housing back on. It is very easy for the thermostat to slide down between the housing and the head when you try to install it with the belt on. With the belt off you will be able to get a straight shot with the thermostat housing. Willy
  21. I know I can be quite blunt and am not good at being PC or sugar coating things. Having stated that I am starting to think that maybe you need a very direct and blunt response to your question since you seem to be ignoring the other answers. You have NO oil pressure! This is called denial. Not only have you used multiple gauges to test this, you have also actually witnessed the lack of oil pressure in the tube to one of your gauges. What more proof do you need? Do you need the engine to throw a rod through the side of the engine and have it land in your lap as your driving down the road? Now is the time to admit it and take steps to correct it. I once wheeled for three days at the Badlands and drove over 500 miles home afterwards with no oil pressure at idle. I then pulled the engine, removed the crankshaft, and confirmed the bearings were bad. This was all with no other symptoms than lack of oil pressure. It still ran great and sounded fine. As we've learned lately several of these engines can even run for way longer than expected with glass solidifying in the crankcase. My apologies if you don't take this the way it is intended, but you now need to move past IF you have oil pressure and move on to why you don't have oil pressure. Willy
  22. I think the only strength in question is of your welding. Willy
  23. No, the '07+ JK uses a 5x5" bolt pattern, not 5x.5.5". If your MJ has stock axles, it has a 5x4.5" bolt pattern. Willy
  24. Correct. It is their offset panhard bracket with one of their heims. Willy
