Welcome. Truetracs are limited slips, not lockers. Willy

Don't bite thy tongue! That is the problem we have in this USA! Too many do that, and say nothing to those we elected nor vote at the booth, saying "what good will it do" and them complaining about the outcome because they bit their tongue! Obama is too young in inexperience, and by this too much under the influence of those who adopted in the 1960's and 70's the socialist mantra of that generation, to lead this country. He is in over his head. I wonder, in a large part is he being used? After enduring 8 years of a ventriloquist puppet we finally get somebody with intelligence and you think he is being used? :rotfl2: Willy i gota ask, who was running the "puppet"? Dick Cheney sure had his arm way up Bush's and the country's @$$. Willy

That would have required a torch. Pre-heating the tubes would have been preferred, but from everything I have read it can be done without it and many have been successful without pre-heating first. Willy

Finally got back to this. I pulled the axle to finish welding the shock mounts. While I was at it I decided to take care of something I've had on my list for a while - welding the tubes to the differential. First I cleaned up as much oil and dirt as I could. I took one of the non-cup style wire brushes and wedged it as far between the tubes and differential as I could. I then welded short sections at a time and moved 180* between welds to prevent bending the tubes. Even the wire wheel wasn't able to clean out all the oil, but I think the welds should hold. I wrapped it in a welding blanket overnight to attempt to allow it to cool slowly. Not sure if it actually did any good. :dunno: I cleaned as much of the dirt off the tubes as I could get to and am now in the process of priming and painting before I put it back in. Willy

I don't understand this either. :dunno: While many Democrats may be hypocrites, they are not hypocrites just by being a member of the party. For me the biggest appeal of Democrats over Republicans is that you are not ostracized for having your own opinion or by being who you are. Willy

Hopefully we aren't getting too far into the political stuff, but I always have trouble understanding statements like this. I have trouble thinking of any Republican who is not at least one of the latter, if not all of them. How do die hard Republicans rationalize this? It is such a stringent party driven by inane rules that must be followed that even the lifestyles of its members do not fit within its confines. :hmm: Willy

If you want the images to display in your post use the img tag instead of the url tag. PhotoBucket makes this very easy. All you need to do is copy the IMG Code located on the left side of the PhotoBucket screen. This is already formatted with the img tag. Willy

How are the "OEM" Tow Hook Brackets connected? They use the three bumper bracket bolts as well as the large sleeved hole further back. There is also a bracket along the bottom. I'm not sure if that one bolts to the sway bar mounts or somewhere else. There may also be an angle bracket on the inside of the uniframe that sandwiches the sheet metal the front two bumper bracket bolts mount through. I know some of the aftermarket tow hook brackets include this, not sure about the stock brackets. Willy

Billy Ray would concur. Willy

If you want me to say something nice you have to include something of interest to me - boobs or Jeeps. :nanner: Willy

The only hole already drilled on mine is in the far back (left on your pic)... I don't think without significant 'take off', I'm have any chance of getting a drill in there to make the necessary holes... Here is a bad Cell Phone Shot -> The Red Circles are where the Holes "Should" be... A lot of the early XJs/MJs didn't come with those holes. They are there for the steering box for right hand drive models. Not sure when the holes became standard for all MJs/XJs. My '88 does not have the holes. My '94 and '98 XJs did have them. I haven't checked to see if they are there on the '91. Those holes are also sleeved from the factory. Since you don't have those sleeves I wouldn't even consider using those brackets. Willy

Would you really want to claim you designed something that ugly? :hmm: I wouldn't. Willy

This recovery point kind of scares me. Is this just a piece of 1/2" plate welded to your tube bumper? What is the tube bumper made out of - maybe 1/8" wall tubing at best? I can't see that lasting through much of a pull. I can imagine it failing by ripping a hole in the round tubing around the circumference of the welds. Willy

How does creating a Ram brand help them sell more vehicles? Apparently they don't realize that the reason most people probably associate the Dodge brand with trucks is because that is about the only Dodge worth buying. Maybe if they made a car worth buying they would sell more instead of just trying to change its name. :hmm: Willy

Ahh, because its whats happening right here in the great USA... Do you live under a rock? CW Wow! Answered that question. Willy

This probably won't come off as very nice, but it is intended to be helpful and constructive. Is part of the reason your physics grades are so low because your instructor simply can't decipher your work? Your spelling, grammar, and punctuation are horrible. I know if I was an instructor I wouldn't even attempt to grade any assignment with as many grammatical errors as your posts contain - automatic fail. This is especially unexceptable with the prevelance of spell checkers. While the relevance of physics to most individual's futures may be debated, grammar and spelling may not. It is vitally important to almost anything you will choose to do with your life. You may also be surprised how much improving in this area will also improve your other subjects. Willy

Seriously? How can people just close their eyes to reality and believe crap like this? Willy

thermostat housing leak question
reson46 replied to Mongo's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
:agree: It is very easy for the thermostat to fall out of its recess when attempting to put the housing back on. The housing then breaks easily because it isn't flush against the head. Did you remove the belt? If not it is almost impossible to get a straight shot with the thermostat, housing, and lower bolt forcing you to come at it from an angle and almost guaranteeing that you will knock the thermostat out of its recess. This thread sucks. You should have at least included some girly pics or something that would have made reading this worthwhile. :fool: Willy

Trust me, there is no reason to move to TX from here. I'm happy to be a former TX resident. Willy
