  1. I put a 92 XJ 4.0 full cluster into my 91 MJ 2.5, Put the oil pressure sending unit and temp sending unit from my 88 XJ 4.0, and everything works just peachy.
  2. Not all Ax-5 are internal, same with the Ax-15, and if I'm not mistaken (which I may be) the Ba 10/5 has external kits. My 91 with an Ax-4 has an internal, although I'm saying goodbye to that when the Converted Ax-5 goes in, which is out of an 86 XJ. If for some strange reason yours is internal, I would switch it over to external while you've got everything apart.
  3. You got lucky. If there is ANY difference in diameter between your front and rear tires, then you're gonna break something. Unless you have Full Time, which will have a viscous coupling, therefore allowing the axles to sping at different speeds.
  4. You should be able to see the slave. 86 was an external slave setup. Also, you said you ordered a new slave and a new throwout bearing? If it was an internal slave, those two would be one piece. Just FYI. Sounds to me like something's leaking somewhere. Mine does something similiar, so I've gotten into the habit of just leaving it in neutral if I have to have the clutch pushed in for more than a few seconds. I've just now started to see some fluid coming from the bellhousing, although the level in the master isn't getting any lower. Check above your fusebox for fluid. I had an 89 XJ that had the master go out in it right before I bought it, and it soaked the fuse box. That truck had a lot of electrical problems when we finally got rid of it.
  5. Those look like helper springs. And yeah, those are factory. Mine had them too, but I took that crap off and put my 88 XJ mirrors on, where they belong.
  6. Here's mine http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/view ... sc&start=0
  7. 88 XJ 4.0 4x4 5 speed. Still have many parts from it. Some of which have been attached to my MJ. The day I got her

    1992's

Holy buckets. I appreciate my 91 a hell of a lot more. And that 92 that was only 900 bucks....It was sitting for like 3 months before it disappeared. I'd really wished I'd gotten it now.
  9. Whatever you do, get an external slave setup. Internal slaves were the worst idea made by anyone. Ever.
  10. Sadly this is one of the best ones I could find. It's from forever ago (like June of 05) right after I graduated, when I did the gasket set on my 88 XJ I've since given the glasses the boot.
  11. Yeah the original CAs stayed on the truck. So 6 of the bushings stayed original. One of the UCA axle bushings was replaced, and the other looked like it had been replaced recently.
  12. Ok I'm just asking, cause since I put the 94 XJ D30 on, the damn thing's been shaking on me, and I replaced all 4 ball joints and both bearings, but it's still doing it. So another possibilty is the track bar. I'm gonna take the original trackbar off the 2wd axle that was on the truck, and put it back on. It -never- shook with the 2wd axle, so that tells me it's not the tires or CA bushings, since of the 2 bushings on the D30, one looked to be in great shape, and the other one I replaced.
  13. 2wd and 4wd Trackbars are identical, right?
  14. Chissel/Punch and a BFH would do it.
  15. Yeah, but my regular parts store understands all that crap ;) When I ask for 94 Cherokee parts they know I need something for my front axle.
  16. My 88 XJ did the same thing after I did the plugs. Then I replaced the wires too and it went away.
  17. I've had a similar thing happen, although I never figured out the cause. I had an 89 XJ that had the dash lights come on when you turned on the truck, and when you flicked on the headlights, the dash lights would go off. Had to run the reading light at night to see the gauges. We always figured it was the fuse box, since it had been soaked in brake fluid before we bought it.
  18. Go get a filter and gasket set from any parts store. It was like 12 bucks for it when I did it on my J10. Then just drop the pan (if you don't have a drain plug) unbolt old filter, bolt on new one, then put the pan back on with the new filter and fill it back up. Not sure how much you'll need to put in, but make sure that you check the fluid when it's running and warm.
  19. Yeah I just got done doing mine on the left side...and I screwed up on the bottom one too. Spent a few hours trying to press it out...then took a look at the new one..yeah, it presses in from the bottom. You rented one for $157? Can't you buy a somewhat decent one for like 20 bucks less than that? Granted, you wouldn't get your money back...but you'd never have to rent one again. I'm considering buying one now.
  20. P215/75 R16 would give you a 28.69 in diameter...close enough?
  21. What year is it? It looks like a 4.0 to me, and if it's the HO and the harness is still intact.... :brows: I may want
  22. If you find a column without a steering wheel...I have one that has the whole piece in front instead of just the cap..black.
  23. Should go right in, as long as you don't have an auto column shifter
  24. I think he means drilling a hole at the end of the crack so it doesn't get any longer.
