  1. What motor/transmission do you have? If you've got the 4cyl, then I would think that the pilot bearing for the 87 and 92 would be the same, since both years used the same transmission. However, if it's the 4.0, I believe the Peugot and Ax-15 use different bearings. I know the HO and non-HO motors used different flywheels, but I'm not sure about different cranks. If you put the 92 Ax-15 behind a non-HO motor, you probably won't be able to use either bearing.
  2. Yup, there was actually a post on Comanches in movies awhile ago, and I mention the WOtW. Comanche saved Tom Cruise's life - Tom Cruise Saves world. Comanche Saved the world!
  3. lol yes of course, I wouldn't have even thought of it if I had gas
  4. lol, no wife, no fabirc softener either. But it works alright, since the shed is mostly insulated.
  5. ..When I heat my shed with dryer exhaust. I'll put up pics as soon as Photobucket stops hating me and actually lets me upload.
  6. Yup, just a bad splice into the main power wire under the dash..got it all fixed now.
  7. Prolly about 300-400 at the most. Given the high miles and the lack of driveline options. Pics would help if you can get any.
  8. Easiest way to do the rear is just do an SOA setup, which will give you(from what I understand) 4-4.5 inches. I'm sure someone will chime in for a front lift, I haven't done one... ...yet.
  9. lol i actually dug out the bulb tester and figured it out. I got the cruise setup in the truck...but it doesnt work. I think it's just a bad connected for the power supply. That and instead of tying the backlight for the controls into the dash lights I spliced it in with the right blinker light dash arrow. I'm a genius!
  10. Which wire on the coil is the negative? grey or green? 91 2.5 MPI
  11. 4.0 HO in the '05 Wrangler sports.
  12. Just out of curiosity, has anyone put an NSG 370 6 speed in an MJ or XJ? For my stroker I'm planning to go with the standard AX-15, but I was thinking down the road going with an NSG 370, if it's possible.
  13. 2.5 and 2.8 have the same engine to tranny bolt pattern, so it wouldnt matter anyway. But yes, an AMC V8 will definitly have a different pattern.
  14. I can plug my MJ in overnight? lol. The only one I've seen with a plug is Jeepcomj's Dad's Turbo Diesel.
  15. I usually get mine at F&F, and just take in the old one for comparison, to make sure I get the right one. Once the stroker goes in, I'll have to make sure I get better ones though..
  16. She needs a name, eh? Looks like a...Betsy. :brows:
  17. Staying stock height for now, and I had all the tools I needed when I pulled the front end from my XJ, and I've had this trans out before. And Sears has gotten a lot more of my money since. Everything is getting good and prepped this weekend. Prolly gonna go through a can of PB on my truck this next week. Jeepcomj's coming out for at least one day, and hopefully at least my dad or brother will be around to help. My bro doesn't know much about this stuff, but if I point at bolts and say "get it out" he can understand that much. lol, the 2.5 to 4.0 swap isn't going to happen until next summer at the earliest. At that point I plan on my truck being down for a couple of months, since it's a stroker, getting SOA in the rear and an equivelant lift in the front, all rust spots will be fixed and a new paint job, getting bucket seats and a center console, no more bench But I got ahold of a guy yesterday who has the HO wiring harness for me, and possibly a 3.55 D44 rear!
  18. Well luckily the donor trans is already out of the vehicle (years ago) and just needs to be done getting put together, which will be done this weekend. The axle is also out of the donor, and has the complete steering attached, so the only connection that I'll need to mess with is the tierod to pitman. I've done transmissions before, but not going from 2wd to 4wd. And since the axle is non-disco, I won't have to worry about any vaccuum crap or any of that. I'm not forseeing any problems, other than I'm still trying to find a machine shop in the area that can balance a DS. I put up a post in the classifieds...but does anyone want the 2wd front axle?
  19. I don't have a speedo cable, it's electronic. As for the RMS, this is the first truck I've owned that does not leak a drop of anything, and since the motor shouldn't be in the truck for much more than a year yet, possibly two, I'm not going to worry about it. Same for the freeze plug. I do have an extra clutch sitting around...somewhere. Which will possibly be going in since I'm fairly certain it's in better condition than the one that's in the truck now. As for the slave, yes, currently I have a shotty internal that's giving me problems, but the 86 trans is external and I have a brand new slave for it. Sorry, forgot to list that lol.
  20. I always got Buss fuses from wal-mart. Or we have a decent amount sitting around since my familiy's junked 3 Xj's
  21. I could have sworn I saw another post in here saying he meant the 4.0 instead of the 4.2... Well, yeah, a GM v6 would be a lot easier, Especially since you should be able to keep your tranny. If you decide not to use the 258(if you have one), I wouldn't mind snagging the Crankshaft. :brows:
  22. I'm converting my truck to 4wd on the 20th-21st and I was wondering if there's anything I should look out for? It seems like it should be a simple bolt-in swap. I have.. No-disco D30 from 94 XJ 4wd Ax-4 converted to Ax-5 from 86 XJ, with NP 207 Pulled the CV yoke for the front, and I have the yoke from the sheared T-case that Jeepcomj posted up. Proper shift linkages Front driveshaft Spare 2wd rear DS that will be cut down.
  23. There should be a sticker on the inside of the drivers door, that will tell you the month of manufactur, I don't know the exact switchover time, but I'm guessing if it was made in 85 you'll need some modification.
  24. There's a couple other things to consider... Since they didn't put the 4.0 into the 86's, the firewall is different, and if yours is an earlier 86, you may have to modify your firewall. No, you won't be able to use your tranny, you'll need either an Ax-15, Ba 10/5, or Aw4. Yes, you'll need to replace the entire harness, engine bay and dash. New motor mounts, new exhaust.
  25. That's not entirely true....I saw an Intrepid oveshoot some ramps..much faster than any jack.. lol
