  1. Not the gauge. Aftermarket cruise won't work when it does that, and that ties directly into the wire going from the tranny. And no, the first few times it did this I did not have cruise.
  2. I've got one...just never got too into it. I already have MySpace and jump around on 4 forums now...getting tired of fillin forms and profile info and stuff out.
  3. There's also www.myjeepspace.com
  4. Ok, it did it again. Definitly not the gear since this is a completely different transmission than the other three times and didn't even use the same gear style, so it's not the same gear. What I really, really don't get, regardless of what the cause is, is why does it kick back in on the EXACT same spot? And it has ONLY done it when I'm leaving directly from home to go to work. Just kinda creeping me out.
  5. ayup...... Jeff And bearing retainer.
  6. That is a very nice looking XJ you got there! I really like your signature pic. And that trailer is awesome. If I ever end up junking another XJ I'll consider something like that.

    4wd?

I did mine for fairly cheap. Trans I already had, stuff to turn the 4wd Ax-4 into an Ax-5 was free, D30 was $70 (spent $325 rebuilding it), linkages and front DS was $10 I think. Got ahold of a spare 2wd rear shaft that I had shortened, just over $100 for that. The donor trans was already an external, but got a new slave($47), and clutch kit($130) anyway. Rest was just time.
  8. And that trans would explode in about 4.3 seconds..

    4wd?

Do a search on it. I know there's at least 4 threads on it in the tech section. This should probably be there too. But yeah, it's pretty easy, especially if you can pick up a donor XJ for a couple bucks that has literally everything you need other than your rear driveshaft.
  10. But yeah, sellers can be incredibly stupid. I do seem to recall a post on here with a seller who would have taken his little delusion that 88 was the last year for the MJ to the grave. I dunno about you...but my 91s are not only 91 Model years, but were both actually manufactured in 91..
  11. My sport came with idiot lights. Pioneer still has them. I think they changed that in the later year XJs, my bro's 98 XJ sport has all the fun toys, including the incredibly annoying shift light.
  12. You can get a knocking noise when slowing down and braking from a bad U-joint too.
  13. Haven't had that problem since I moved out of my Dad's and got my own tools. My Toolbox is freakishly organized, so the point that some people feel it's "wrong".
  14. Yeah internal slaves suck.
  15. She might have been willing to pay the 500, but it was pretty beat up, and only 2wd. I just wasn't going to play their game, who knows what else they may have tried. And no, we didn't mean at her house, he drove out and we met in a store parking lot. As for getting her an XJ, she wants a pickup.
  16. So a friend of mine who just recently got off of house arrest was looking for a small truck, she liked mine and knew I could do work on it so she wanted one. I found one on Craigslist. Rusted up 86, 2.5, 2wd, 4 speed. She went and looked at it, liked it, and they agreed on $400. She gave him half up front. Since she can't drive, he agreed to deliver it this morning and she'd give him the other half. He called her, said when he tried to move it, he broke the rear axle. He said he'd drive out and give her her money back. We went and met him, and he said that someone else picked it up for $300, and was on their way to Janesville - driving it. He seemed to push that she could contact the other guy if she still wanted it. A couple hours later the other guy called her, claiming he'd fixed the truck already and she could have it for $500. WTF?
  17. :agree: :redX: Si es Bueno.......... Welcome :D NO ABLA SPANGLISH.
  18. thanks for the info. with the hood up the latch works fine. the drivers side latch, not on hood ,looked like it moved so i moved it where i thought it should be. it worked easier. i sprayed everything with pb blaster. going to use some cold temperature lithium based grease. its called ' lubriplate aero'. iso 9001. i wonder why they didn't use 6 or even ten more latches. i could have them across the whole front end. He!! I think two is overkill... they only needed one.. ,, but a jeep hood really locks down nice and tight though. Oh come on. There's nothing cooler than driving down the highway at 65 and having it pop up, then refusing to latch back down even when you sit on the damn hood. I, of course, would have no idea whatsoever what that would be like.
  19. Rode up the tire and knicked the gas tank. A good inch long scratch on it that was definitly from the eclipse.

    Yo

Drive it down here and we'll get the other 4x4 badge on it, and get you a new driver's running light and bezel. That'll definitly help.
  21. Only vehicle I sold was my 89 XJ, and it went to my brother, cause his 92 got hit. The oil stains on the bottom is where the XJ was parked. That street is a 30 MPH zone. &^*#ing Eclipse....Anyway. He then sold it after he got his 98 XJ, with the AX-15 and NP 231 from the 92 sitting in the back. Didn't even ask extra for it...just thought it was convienent way to get rid of the trans.

    Yo

still waiting for you to trade me your blue one You're not the only one. If you ask real nice, when you come through on your way to IL I might let you take it for the second leg of the trip, while I make yours somewhat safe.
  23. Geonovast

    Yo

lol that's what I told him when he bought it.
  24. I think mine came today. My dad left me a message saying I got a package at his house. Stupid post office.
  25. Another reason to fix the master ASAP...the fuse box is right under it. You DO NOT want that getting soaked in fluid.
