  1. I have a 92 XJ cluster in a 91 MJ. Oil and water senors are actually from an 88 XJ and everything works fine.
  2. If you could post up some pics that would help quite a bit. With a 4.0, stock gearing should be: 5 speed - 3.07 Auto - 3.55 Your front is going to be a Dana 30, the Dana 35 is a rear axle only This should help you ID your axles.
  3. I always thought a small engine piston would make a neat shifter.
  4. The gauge and light use different sensors. With swapping in a full cluster, the oil pressure sender and temp sender would have to be replaced.
  5. I believe those were a factory option.
  6. Xj computer is identical.
  7. Are you sure you don't live in WI?
  8. I've got three renix ones sitting around... 87 4.0/4x4/5 speed 88 4.0/4x4/5 speed 86 2.5/4x4/4 speed I know the two 4.0 ones are good, no idea about the 2.5, never ran the truck.
  9. So there's no difference between the 2.5 and 4.0 sensors?
  10. Probably grabbed a cherokee fender. If it had been a factory screw-up, they should have been fixed before leaving the Dealership.
  11. My red one has been running pretty bad lately, and just the way it's acting and from reading several threads on here I'm fairly certain my O2 sensor is shot. I have one from my 88 4.0 XJ in the shed, I can get at one from a 92 4.0 XJ. I'm also going to be stripping a 92 Cavalier over this weekend so that one's there too. Can I use any of those? I know it's best to replace with a new one, but money's really tight right now and if it can get me by until I can afford a new one I'm good.
  12. Actually the 1986 MJ is not identical to the 87-92 MJs. The firewall is different, and I believe the radiator mount is different too. ;) Yes, but the 86 MJ is identical to the 86 XJ.
  13. There's a nice little freeware program called UnFreeZe that you can do it with. That's how I made mine. http://www.whitsoftdev.com/unfreez/
  14. Yeah mine's still around too. I've elimated pretty much everything except the tires. Replaced all 4 ball joints, both bearings, both shocks, drivers side U-joint, and there is no play whatsoever in the tierods or pass U-joint, which I'm gonna replace anyway this weekend if I get time. Pretty sure my tires are completely screwed from the driving around with a 2 inch toe-in for so long.
  15. Yup, front 4 door XJ doors are identical. 2 door ones won't fit because they're longer. Engine bay/suspension-wise, they're also identical. The front axle in my red MJ is from a 94 XJ and my transmission is out of an 86 XJ.
  16. A 1/2 in drive ratchet that's not even an inch shorter than a breaker bar is a good thing to have :D $32 and I'm soooo glad I got it.
  17. Did you overfill it at all? They'll spill until they have the proper level in them.
  18. You do realize that there is nothing whatsoever inside the shifter that determins the |-|-| Pattern right? That's all inside the transmission itself.
  19. Gebus...what did she do to deserve that?
  20. And the floors and roofs are slightly different. Other than that it's just the bench seat in the MJs and earlier auto MJs had a column shifter.
  21. There are no wires for the transmission cooler. There are lines that connect to the radiator. Willy He said controller not cooler. Yes, the wiring for the controller should be there, under the dash. Try to get one for a Renix era AW4, I believe the Renix and Chrystler controllers are different. But what he said about the radiator is true. You may have to swap in the radiator from an auto. I can't remember off the top of my head if there's blocked off connections on the bottom of the manual ones or not.
  22. UGH,... I love how they blacked out the gauge cluster in the pic.
  23. Bleed the hell out of it, and check for leaks from the master. Look for any fluid above your fuse box. My 88 XJ did the same thing when the master died.
  24. Remember that the Cherokee is an Spring over axle for the rear and your Comanche is spring under. New perches will need to be welded to the cherokee axle. Front is literally a bolt on. Worst part about it is you'll need to use the 4wd calipers, so therefore a bleeding is in order.
