mfpdm Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Found a 88 lwb 2wd MJ at the JY today and noticed this on the rear packs. Would those be considered helper springs? Also had some odd mirrors on it. These can't be factory can they?
Geonovast Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Those look like helper springs. And yeah, those are factory. Mine had them too, but I took that crap off and put my 88 XJ mirrors on, where they belong.
89eliminator Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 yeah that is a helper spring and those are factory mirrors. i had those mirrors on my 88 Sportruck.
mfpdm Posted December 10, 2007 Author Posted December 10, 2007 Those mirrors look like they were an afterthought. "hey george, we forgot the mirrors. Oh well lets just use these." :shake:
Oizarod115 Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Those mirrors look like they were an afterthought. "hey george, we forgot the mirrors. Oh well lets just use these." :shake: yeah they look/work like pure buttocks. i too replaced mine with XJ mirrors, but how did yall get rid of the ugly rivet/mounting plate thingy for them?
Rokhound Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 yeah those have to be stock mine was on my truck until a tree took them off.
CEThomas Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Yes, we had / have them on our MJ. Moved them up so you can use them ;) The guy that put them in that location had to know you could not use them
500 MJ Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I didnt mind them when I had them on mine... I've also saw them used on YJ's.
MF Steve! Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I didnt mind them when I had them on mine... I've also saw them used on YJ's. Yes, those are infact the same mirrors used on YJ full doors. I have two pairs laying around if anyone ever needs them. Totally freebies.
ComancheKid45 Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I have the same mirrors on mine as well
CEThomas Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 The mirors are OK, just where they placed them for a fat guy to see them :D
carnuck Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I have West COast mirrors to put on mine. My old truck had a swing away set that worked nice except for trails and narrow garages (and anyone driving it but me would smack them on stuff going forwards or backwards!)
bhorocks Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 i have that same crappy mirror ony my drivers side. i have to lean way back to use it.. I hate it... put a xj mirror on pass side just need to replace that driver side.....
pingpong Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 I was wondering if the coils I had above my springs were stock.. or some booty fab crap... guess they are stock  My truck has the same mirrors as well
JeepcoMJ Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 I'd like to get the helper spring assembly if you could get them Paul..
mfpdm Posted December 11, 2007 Author Posted December 11, 2007 I'd like to get the helper spring assembly if you could get them Paul.. No way, I've sent you too much stuff already and you need the money for school. J/K :D I couldn't resist. I'll see if their still there tomorrow. I'm going to play hooky from work in the afternoon to head out to the JY. :brows:
HOrnbrod Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 I was wondering if the coils I had above my springs were stock.. or some booty fab crap... guess they are stock  My truck has the same mirrors as well Never have seen them in any of the regulation parts manuals. Maybe the coils were an accessory or dealer installed item.
