My Brother’s J10

My brother and I went to an auction today and he bought this for $275. It is super rusty, even the frame. He is 13 years old and plans in buying a nicer truck with less rust and this will be his parts rig. 

He brought it home, threw a booster pack on it, poured some starting fluid in the carb and it started!

79 J10, 360, 4 speed, LWB

Oh it’s bad. The frame is rusty, it has no floors, rockers, cab corners, the bedsides are junk, the bed floor is junk, and the front fenders are super rusty.

looks like a vapor return line off of the fuel filter

He bought home the truck he fill be fixing now. We believe it’s an 83. It’s a short bed, 360, Auto, with a factory sliding rear window and roll bar and 64,000 original miles. 

We rescued it from the local junkyard. 

It also appears to have a small lift. Maybe 3 inches.

We also got some rust free doors for it too. He got the truck and the doors for $550.

Aw hell yess a muscle grill J-truck! If ever in the OEM bumper market(But that front bumper looks to be in great shape), apparently old square body chevy trucks flipped upside down fits really well with those SJ's(at least the front does). That off-road/weekend warrior Wagoneer on Jay Lenos garage taught me that one. 

 

But nice fricken score!! Need more pics and a good cleaning.

You may be sad to hear that the grill is probably getting replaced with the old pig nose style. It is a nice truck!

Yes. I’ll probably hang it in my bedroom along with my 96 XJ hearder panel, 85 AMC Eagle grill and headlight bezels, and 64 Mercury Comet grill.

I did a little bit of scrubbing while the rest of the fam wasn’t home.

Completely pressure washed the outside. He is taking the carpet out today too to look at the floors. Pics of the floors to come.
