MJs at the 2017 All Breeds Jeep Show

Just dug these pics up from the 2017 All Breeds Jeep Show held in York, PA in July of this year.  There were around 8 or 9 MJs there.  Most were new builds done on 17" JK wheels, etc.  I think 87MJTIM had one of the nicest trucks there, it's the one behind the Walker clone here:

For sale, I think it was around $11k:

This eliminator was clean...

Why?

Theres a topic in the NE forum about the show where Tim said they don't favor stock jeeps.  It's a lot of modded JKs and XJs.

He's right.  His Laredo didn't get nearly as many looks as the monster MJ down the row with an 8" neon green lift.  It hurt my head to look at it so I didn't grab a pic of it.  Sorry.

Yeah, I get it.

Jeep Invasion is here in Pigeon Forge. Several years ago now I read someone's account of how he was told to get himself and his XJ out of the JK parking lot. Opened my eyes.

I have yet to attend for that very reason.

I despise two types of people, stupid people and haughty people, the extremes of the spectrum. I promised to be nice here.......I keep promises.

One of these days...............

BTW, I'd much rather see a clean solid stock truck/car that some hacked up POS.

Don't let them look down their noses at you.

I love a stock Jeep, also.  Although, lightly modified Jeeps aren't bad either.

Most of the XJ there are heavily modified.  Too much for my taste.

The All Breeds Jeep Show is located on the in-field of a horse racing track.  A lane cuts through the middle.  One half of the in-field has all breeds of Jeep - EXCEPT for JKs.  Those have the other half of the field.  It is getting to be a JK Jeep Show.

Stock and well kept old Jeeps impress me far more than someone throwing a Quadratec catalog at their JK.

You can't restore an old MJ/XJ/CJ/TJ, ect. Jeep with a Quadratec catalog; but it's easy to "build" a JK with the plethora of JK bolt-on parts available. Takes a whole lot less talent too. Plus JK's outnumber old Jeeps like an MJ 1000 : 1.

I much rather see restored-to-stock or tastefully modified old Jeeps, especially MJs since they are my favorite, than any JK monstrosity. But that's how it is now. If you don't like looking at JKs that dominate at an "All Breeds" show, ignore them, or don't go.

We go every year, since my older kids were young.  It's a good time, but lately we've stayed in the all breeds section and vendor alley.  I've got a JK, but I go to the show to see the unique stuff.  It's a great show in that you'll see old MBs, CJs, YJs, Honchos, MJs and more.  I have pics of all my kids over the years in front of the same CJ7 Golden Eagle that's there every year.  I always see something I never knew Jeep made.  It really is a good time, and you don't really have to spend time looking at modded XJs or JKs if you don't want to.

I'd like to go next year and possibly take the MJ.  Would be nice if we could get a CC contingent together and set up in the same row/area.  Our stock and lightly modified MJs wouldn't look out of place next to each other...

yup.  happens with each passing model year.  the new Jeeps outnumber the old in shows because they greatly outnumber the old in real life.  I bet someone was worried about all those newfangled YJs stealing the limelight at one point in time.  :D

That would be a good time! I only managed to bring one MJ over this year after missing 2016, which is my Walker Evans tribute truck. I usually like to bring another one of my trucks to play around on the course with. Yeah there's lots of JKs but I just stay away from the section and enjoy checking out the old stuff that people keep alive and chatting with them.

100%, and they had "square headlights" so they weren't real Jeeps, were a disgrace to the brand, and everything about them sucked and their owners were a bunch of [insert derogatory stereotypes].

I plan on going.  I love the old Jeeps - CJ8s and CJ10s, old Commandos, FCs, etc.

I love to meet other MJ owners as well.

My nephew came with in '16.  He loved it.  He has a '15 (?) JKU.  The only dirt is sees is possibly a construction site.

YJs are absolutely awesome because you can use the tubs to replace rusted out tubs on CJ7s (which have the proper round headlights :peep:)

I've experienced a little JKU haughtiness, but not much.  Funny how a day of wheeling begins with the guy driving the CJ being the odd man out, and ends with people making comments like "I think he could point that thing anywhere on this mountain and it would just go", and asking advice on building their JK/JKU (of which I have no clue, other than add lower gears, skidplates, lockers, some lift and bigger tires...:dunno:)
