johnj92131
Sent an email to Jeep Customer service asking for a build sheet for the 1986 diesel Comanche last week. They wrote back telling me the Comanche was too old for their system. Not really a surprise. But does anyone know of an alternative way to get a copy of factory build sheet or where in the truck a copy might have been stashed during the production process? Comanche SS
Have you used a Vin decoding tool? Carfax, or an informational Vin tool. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
johnj92131
VIN # was the first thing I checked before buying the truck. Needed to make sure it was a real factory diesel that I could register in California. Used both online sources and the factory service manuals to verify much of the OEM configuration. Have not tried a Carfax.
Strokermjcomanche
Ive seen them under the seat , behind the door panels , and even under the carpet .I'm sure you already checked the owners manual pouch ( if it has one )
schardein
Mine was tucked in the springs under the pass side of the bench seat. I've found one from an 86 there also.
johnj92131
Gentlemen, Thanks for that information. When I get the truck back to California later in the Spring, I will be sure to check those locations. Especially under the bench seat.
DirtyComanche
Mine was in the driver's door on my 89, and I've found a few there.
HOrnbrod
Especially under the bench seat. Mine was inside the bench seat tucked way up in the springs. When I had the seat recovered the upholsterer found it.
johnj92131
For the 91 Comanche, I have the original window sticker and it prices out all the factory options installed on the truck. Dealer items, like the shell, bed liner, bed mat, trailer hitch are naturally not included. Is the build sheet simply a list of the same factory installed options that would have been on the original window sticker? Naturally, without the pricing data. Would anyone care to post their build sheet? Thanks, JJ
HOrnbrod
I got this printout from Daimler Chrysler for my 91 awhile back. It matches the paper build sheet found in the vehicle. buxmj
I went to a brand new Jeep dealership a few years ago and I don't know if the guy at the parts counter was bored or not but he printed up my build sheet free of charge. Buck.

Minuit
Here's mine. Sadly I think it was lost in a move, but I scanned it and clarified the faded ink on some of the spots. I have a full size PSD of it somewhere.
johnj92131
Cool pictures gentlemen. I tossed the bench seat years ago without even looking under it. The original doors went away in 2009 after my parked truck got sideswiped. All the original documents from the truck are in one large envelope in the files. When I get/need a break from doing income taxes, I will pull it out, then scan and post the image. Another question: Where is the best place to find a list of the options available for the 1986 Comanche? Or what should I look for on Ebay to put it another way. Minuit
Thanks for the window sticker pic. Looks like my truck was around $12k sticker price. Metallic paint and "Jamaica fabric" interior would've added a little to the price where the short wheelbase would've taken away some. Get yourself an '86 Comanche brochure. It'll have option listings, but sadly not their prices. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-Jeep-Comanche-pickup-new-vehicle-brochure-/350132710214?hash=item5185892b46:m:mT81Xr2jbBNN6PmLkdy4Ogw
DesertRat1991
Here is the window sticker for my 1991 Comanche: -pic- This is very cool. Thank you! I'm kind of curious about the "full vinyl bench seat" option though. Is your entire bench made of vinyl, with no cloth on the seating area?
Minuit
Yup. Whole thing would be vinyl. Having cloth seating areas was an option, believe it or not. The cloth bench for this year would've been called "Jamaica Fabric". The previous years would've been "Canyon Fabric"
RustyRodder
Interesting. Mine is full vinyl, always wondered about that
