Dirtbound bed racks, practically new. Universal fit

I definitely noticed when I made the jump to Epic that the activity slowed. Don’t know if it’s a lack of interest in extreme builds or a lack of knowing this section exists. Lol

I can still post in her periodically, I mostly meant I will primarily be on that new thread as there is a larger crowd of those with the Full Chassis know-how and nitty gritty details there. CC is a great resource for everything Jeep/Mopar, mine will be almost nothing Jeep/Mopar any longer lol. Agreed! I just need a larger “hardcore” crowd to get this build to that next level properly

Alright well, noone came along with a reasonable offer. So going to keep it, but taking it to the next level. With that said, I won't be using this thread much anymore for it. It will no longer be much of a Comanche. With the exception of title, cab, dashboard, and some emblems it will be a completely ground up full tube chassis build. I have started to document the future of this truck on the forum below that is more suited to full chassis builds. https://irate4x4.com/threads/comanche-fun-runner-phase-3.412529/ Ill still be around for nostalgic reasons, but the next phase of this build doesnt apply to comanche's much anymore. Ill be posting not needed parts in the classifieds.

It has to be fixed one way or the other, I don't want to sell it, but if someone comes by with a wad of cash I could use that more than I can use a Jeep that sits and cost money lol

Alright so current damage report and things to finish: -Rear Axle shaft -Front Coilover needs a rebuild & new shaft -Front Differential re-gear Also slowly aqcuiruing parts to go back to a 4L80E...In my turbo truck I have one and really figured out how to tune it better and really enjoy how it drives, plus I can't do clutch drops which will save me from breaking axle shafts on the street some more lol. In doing so though, I will likely put a smaller cam in the LS3, so that I don't have to run a crazy torque converter, as that won't be ideal for an off road rig.

Gotcha, rubber hose works as a bushing and for much less usually. I'm too cheap lol -

Looks great! What's the story on the winch hook? (or lack of one) -

totally agree, I have seen use of OBD port splitters before. I know its not an uncommon thing. -
Thanks! In other news, the comanche is back on the backburner, couple reasons, One being winter. But on a more serious note, after the initial test drives with the new front end some issues arose. First big one is the shock mounts, they are too far back, and cause a binding scenario that I could compensate with running a crazy caster angle, but it really just needs to be fixed. The fix is to get shorter shocks and mount the lower shock mount on top of each beam. This is just a problem of using the shock towers I previously installed, placing the shocks where they are, and it not playing nicely with the new front end. This is the costly repair, as the shocks I want to get are about $2k. Other odd issue, is the 9'' rear axle keeps unseating the axle shafts. This is a new one and I am not sure of the source of this issue. The shafts are full floating, and never needed a retainer in the past, but the last few times I've taken the rig on a drive, the driver side rear shaft will slide out of the splines in the hub, resulting in one wheel drive lol. I think I need to add a spacer in-between both shafts, so that they physically cannot slide out of the splines in the hub or diff, or I can thread a bolt thru the hub cap into the axle shaft. I much prefer the first option as it makes for less failure points and leak points. All that to say, the jeep is put away until after winter most likely. I got my hands full with my Turbo Silverado project in the workshop that's realistically got another month or two before its out of the workshop.

Maybe I missed it, where are you connecting the new cluster? Will it be OBDII based or run directly off of the ECU? -
LS Drag Comanche!

Liking this build, I am currently doing a RCSB Silverado with a very similar engine/trans combo. can't imagine how it feels in a Comanche lol. My Comanche with right around 500HP is plenty enough as it is. -
Took a nice long break from all of my projects. For good reason, got married. The Comanche of course was part of the wedding as it was the only vehicle we have had since day 1, all of our first dates were in it, and all of our first memories.

Been sick this last week, got behind schedule. Should be a runner this weekend, just in the assembly stage now

Spent a few hours this weekend welding and another few hours sanding, painting and preparing. Hoping to get all this back under the jeep this week, my sinuses are really feeling all the fumes I was breathing this weekend lol

Y link steering introduces bump steer, when the inner steering pivot is not in plane with the beam pivot it travels a different arc….same concept with wanting a track bar to be the same length, angle, and plane as your steering in solid axle setups

Some Glamor shots…so relieved this is working, now it’s just a matter of pulling it all apart, welding, painting, and assembling. This has been my biggest design and fabrication challenge to date. Definitely learned a lot along the way.
