Strokermjcomanche
Well I woke up and figured I'd get some breakfast from dunkin donuts today , turned out to be a bad decision . I was driving my 99XJ in the right lane of a 4 lane road and there was a green Ford explorer (liscense # gyy5233 ) in the left lane heading the same direction I was , he decided to make a quick turn into my lane striking the left front of my jeep . The guy never stopped until I caught up to him motioning for him to pull over , we both got out and he asked if I was ok ( he knew he hit me ) i said I was fine . He said we're all ok then right ? I said no we are going to have a report made . I got back in my vehicle to call the police and a white equinox pulled up next to me asking if I was ok and that he seen what had happened . As I told him I was calling the cops and everything was ok the guy in the explorer sped off and I gave him chase , I called 911 and explained what happened , 911 said that the cops were in route and if I had the plate number to just let him go so I did . I gave the operator the last direction he was headed and returned back to the scene of the accident to meet the cop for a report and so did the eye witness . They know the adress of the explorer and sent a cruiser over and the ford wasn't there , I was told by the description I gave of the driver that he doesn't have insurance , and a suspended liscense . Time to call my insurance company .. This sucks
HOrnbrod
Glad you're okay - that's always #1. It's great there was a witness and he was willing to come forth. Most folks won't do that anymore.

johnj92131
Nobody hurt, that is important. The XJ will get fixed. Too bad you have to deal with it. BUT, if that is the worst thing that happens to any of us - Well then - we are lucky. The chump in the Explorer made another stupid decision. And he knows it was stupid, but acted like a 12 year old anyway. Maybe there is some hope for him.

I hope you're right bout the 20 something year old kid that was driving , but he has no insurance , no liscense , didn't use a turn signal , was on the phone ( distracted ) , ran red lights and blew through no turn on reds running away . I doubt there's any hope for him ... I just want him to pay for damages done to my vehicle which won't happen . I think it's funny how when I was on unemployment, and when my health insurance ran out, that I was penalized for not having health insurance but nothing will happen to him because he didn't have car insurance and he will continue to drive uninsured and with no liscense . Keyav8r
Adam - Glad you're okay and sorry about the XJ. I feel your pain (as Slick Willy used to say) about uninsured drivers. I had a guy rear-end me who had an expired drivers license, no insurance and was driving a friend's car that was uninsured. The officer who investigated the accident wrote the other guy a ticket but refused to follow-up with the vehicle owner who was a block away. End result, my truck was repaired by my insurance. The insurance companies claim they don't count points against you if you're hit by an uninsured motorist, but my agent tells they actually do consider every dollar that's been paid out when renewal time comes around. So, those of us who pay for insurance end up paying for those who don't.Maybe the clown who hit you will develop a conscience and pay up. And, maybe pigs will fly. Call me a cynic. NHMJXJ
Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Glad you're OK and it wasn't an MJ. No excuse for running off ... hope they nail the guy. I've lost two XJ's to idiots. One was insured driver, one not. NH does not require you to provide proof of insurance when registering your vehicle. My insurance Co. assumes there are uninsured drivers, which sadly is true, so I carry an uninsured driver policy.
Minuit
$#!& like this is what sometimes makes me want to leave the 91 in the garage and just drive boring, replaceable cars. Seems like so many CCers are getting hit in their other vehicles these days. I'm dreading the day when we lose a nice MJ to something like this. Very glad you're alright Adam. Hope they nail the guy to the wall.
desbennett004
That sucks, hope it all turns out ok. I come from Australia, and now live in Canada. Insurance isn't compulsory in Australia, so in the same situation, you get a "sorry" and that's it. Unless you want to take him to court, and if he's found guilty, the government will fix your car, and garnish his wages until it's paid back. Most people don't want to deal with the court system, so they end up fixing it themselves, or get there own insurance to fix it. dasbulliwagen
Similar thing happened to my wife. It was a three lane road, one each way and a turn lane. This guy swings left into the turn lane as my wife is behind him, then swings right to make a right turn into his driveway thus forcing my wife to clip him. And who gets a ticket??? My wife. People are stupid!
Strokermjcomanche
Talked to my insurance company and they are waiting on the police report to see if the lady that actually owns the explorer has insurance . If she has insurance they'll go after her , if no insurance my uninsured will cover it with no raising of my rates . Of course no legal action will happen to the person that was driving ........ But it's better than nothing .
