RynoMJ Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I have a pool of water on my passenger foot area. I've been looking for the past few weeks here. Thought it was a window seal. But i cannot for the life of me determine where the water is coming in from. Rained all last night and all the seals seem dry. Where do these things usually leak from?
Strokermjcomanche Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Pete M uses baby powder to locate where the leak is coming from . It could be around your windshield , where the inner fender and firewall meet in the engine compartment ( the seam seal cracks and lets water in ) or it could be coming from around the rear glass as well .
Minuit Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I've also experienced leaks in that area coming from where the heater box meets the firewall by the blower motor.
shelbyluvv Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Mine leaks from the... Windshield Rear window Antenna pass through Heater box Wiper cowl I think that's it.
Eagle Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Fuse panel ... but that would be the driver's side. Antenna?
SVPete Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Mine was rear window primarily. There was also evidence of water coming through the radio antenna cable through hole. The rubber grommet had shrunk over the years and it simply fell out. Add broken up fender liners in the front wheel wells to helping allow water in antenna cable passage.
Jess Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Fixing this right now. Mine is leaking from the antenna cable, where the HVAC/Heater box meets the firewall (or could be the blower motor seal on the engine side) and on the driver side at the fuse box. I originally thought my leak was coming from the fresh air intake under the cowl but it seems to be ok there.
Jackrabbit41 Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I like having a pool every morning lol. It's a jeep, let it leak!
gogmorgo Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I pulled my drain plugs out a little way and have the best of both worlds.
shelbyluvv Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I pulled my drain plugs out a little way and have the best of both worlds. :facepalm:I did the same thing!
Megadan Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Rear window and doors for me. Ging to look into getting new weather stripping and seals this summer and having my rear window re-installed/sealed. Hopefully that at least reduces my swimming pool problems.
RynoMJ Posted February 27, 2016 Author Posted February 27, 2016 I like having floors though... :( That's the thing I just re did the floors really not looking to do them again. Guess I should've found the leak first. Thanks for the reply's guess its going to be some trial and error here!
Marine1Texas Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 I must be one of the lucky ones, have only had water come in from window seal on drive side. fixed it 2 times in 28 years lasts about 10 years before it leaks again. no other leaks for me!
Jackrabbit41 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 I have my carpet out so it doesn't really rust all that bad
