The Wife

How many others out here have a wife that has and wants NOTHING to do with their manche?

With my schedule it is hard for me to get to the City Clerks office to get the title switched to my name and the new tags for the truck. I signed all I needed to, as far as the title was concerned, but when it came to the registration the woman at the clerks office told my wife that in order for her to sign the registration then she would haev to sign the title and become part owner of the truck.

This wouldn't have bothered me if she had signed it so I can get up to date tags, but my wife refused to do so saying that she wanted nothing to do with 'that truck'

I am holding out that once I get the truck lifted and take her out for a day of playing in some mud, that she will come around.

If she doesnt want to do it any more after that, then she can just sit her happy @$$ at home while me and our boys go play without her. :-D

But I was just curious as to how many others out there deal with this same situation?

Oh man.....I feel your pain. She's never liked my MJ from the day I got it. Neither has my mother in fact (she actually GAVE me the ford escort I'm driving now, as an attempt to make me want to get rid of the MJ)

Didn't work.

(and for the record, Missi hates when I refer to her as "the wife"..."I DO have a name, you know?!?!?!?" she says

Good luck,

Jeff

My wife likes my heeps she's not as fond of the MJ as she is the YJ though.

She doesnt drive long vehicles well, and since the MJ lwb is as long as a football field when compared to the YJ  .the shorty is the one that gets the nod :)

You al think your wife hates your rig  My wife makes me spend whatever I spend on my truggy doing a mod back on the house. So if I do a 1000 dollar mod to my rig... she gets a 1000 dollars to spend on the house  Talk about mods getting expensive. The worst part about it is.. she won't even go with me :(

my girlgriend (fiance) of six years. I keep telling her my Jeeps are going on a pre-nup. Every time I see a female driving a built up Jeep. It makes me wonder if she likes off roading or she got it in a divorce. Roseann likes the fact that I have a hobby. She doesn't like me talking about it all the time. We recently went to Florida for a few days and she made me promise not to speak about Jeeps the entire time there. Okay, so I lied :D

My club holds a 'Girls run' every year. Yep, the ladies have to drive. Realistically, they spend more time laughing and cackling than wheeling. My wife is the undisputed Queen of carnage every year. I originally took her so that she could see what we were doing. She grew up in a very redneck town, and the fools around her thought 'four-wheeling' was getting drunk and fooling around in a farm field.

Now she loves going, and we take our kids. The main problem is she now whines about wanted her own Jeep to wheel.(On top of the 4 we own now). But she now will call parts orders in for me, and doesn't complain about it. She is getting prices on getting my EZ-locker installed while I am on this business trip(My V-day present)

The first year, she flatted a tire and almost flipped the Jeep, when noone had any damage. The second year, she ripped off the custom roof rack I had finished building 4 days before. Then after lunch she shattered a axle shaft yoke, and flatted a tire on the same obsticle.

Last fall she hit a tree so hard that it smashed in the ARB bumper bad enough that a winch no longer fits behind it, and broke three of the seat mounts. A week after I finished mounting the bumper.

YO!

x 1000

My wife not only hates my Comanches, she's driving what WAS a pristine 2000 XJ Classic, and she also hates that. (And has demonstrated her dislike by trashing the interior and getting the doors banged in in every parking lot she can find).

Dunno about you, but I owned the Jeeps before I met the woman who is now my wife. If she makes an issue of it -- she loses.

I'm looking for a girl who's already into wheelin'. :D Or at least camping and hiking, cause I want to do a LOT of that in my lifetime. Jeepin' should be a natural extension of the desire to be out in nature (at least in my head it is), or at the very least, the means to and end. The Jeep can travel a lot further out into the wilderness than I can on my two feet (and carry more stuff so we can maintain a certain level of comfort).

Jeep on!

That's precisely my reasoning. She loves to be out hiking and such, due to joint issues I just can't walk far into the wilderness anymore. After about a mile it just plain hurts to take steps. So the Jeep is my compromise, we can go and do all sorts of things we used to do, only I don't have to walk to get there.

  • 2 weeks later...

My wife doesn't really want much to do with my Comanche( it's my work truck), but she was more than happy to get rid of her minivan for a '94 Grand Cherokee to haul kids and groceries with.

That's exactly what I did.

Possibly the best or worst move I ever made, depending on how you look at it. Now 'my' Jeep budget is 'Our' Jeep budget.
