squatted trucks?

Ok youngins' you need to fill me in on why this is becoming a trend? It is the stupidest thing you could possibly do to a truck. On top of that it is just plain dangerous. You can't see a small car over your hood and the headlights are pointed straight to the sky. Totally ruins a truck.

If a member here ever does this to their truck I will delete their post over and over and over and...

They just think it look cool but there is not really that many people down here in lower Alabama.

They are also called mall crawlers.

Mall Crawler is typically a term used for a lifted full size truck with oversized tires / Chrome everything / Etc. That has never seen a work day / offroad trail in its life.

25 year old here.

can't say i've seen a truck like that, Have seen a few cars with the front jacked up though. Not sure why they do it.

What really bugs me is when they take a truck & Lower the $#!& out of it, to the point you can't even go over a speedbump.

Drove by this last summer... If you look closely, You can see that they had to cut the wheel wells in the bed out, to fit the tires. And completely removed the gas tank & put one in the bed

Don't consider myself a kid anymore, but I am moderately involved in the diesel truck world as well. There are all sorts of trends anymore when it comes to trucks. Squatted @$$ end, stretched tires, light bars, color changing led's, and so many more. It's all the kids who drove all the ricer cars, now it's cool to have a truck and do all the same bs to them. My Sierra is mostly stock, and lives with my trailer behind it. A truck getting used as a truck...

Rich kids around here do it to their obnoxiously loud GMC's and Chevys all the time. I hate the truck trends now a days and I'm glad I haven't seen someone transfer the trend to an MJ. I cannot stand any of it. Stretched tires especially. Since when were 20" rims considered attractive on a lifted truck?

20's are actually standard on a lot of 3/4 and 1 ton trucks anymore. Most of the bigger lifted rigs are running on 20's or 24's

Nothing extreme though. The tires just look dangerous and ugly to me lol. Personal preference. Same with the 20's, I just hate how they look.

Completely Agree.  there is a high school across from my office, half the trucks are squatted, pointlessly lifted, and unreasonably loud...  I hate it.  makes the truck less usefull if you need a ladder to get in the bed or need a 12 inch hitch drop

Censorship?

When I was young, it was all about how high off the ground your trunk lid was and it was even more bad @$$ if it could smoke the tires three straight blocks....

Never mind about hooking up (traction).

Then there was metal flake and those tires that stuck waaayyyy out. My mom told me when she was young, @$$ draggin cars were a fad, goes to show that bellbottoms are coming back around, but I doubt  I'll be able to fit any of my old ones...

My point is roddin, wheeling, (general term) IS about being different, most of us have modded our trucks in ways that make US happy. As far as the tail draggers,

well this is America. Some might think it is stupid, but I was young once and I can guarantee an @$$ draggin truck wouldn't be one of the stupider things I've done.

Far as this post goes, makes me want to turn the 87 into an @$$ dragger just to piss opinionated people off and because I can.

BTW my DD is a dropped S-10, it's still a truck, still hauls, just low. Hopefully I'll get the 350/T350 installed this winter. My point is why be knockin for being different or are we being judgmental?

I hear you Ed. Every generation has their stupid automotive fads. A popular one when I was a kid was reversing the rear shackles. It was accomplished by jacking the rear end up and inserting a crowbar through the leaf spring shackle and pushing the spring down until the shackle flipped down. This effectively jacked the rear end up 3"-4" giving it a hella rake. It was free and we thought it looked cool. It also ruined the handling, made it ride like a buckboard, and sometimes stretched the rear brake lines to the point of breaking the brakes.

Looking back it was stupid doing that, and the kids today will look back one day at the crazy things they are doing to their rigs and realize these were stupid things to do also. But when you're a kid you do stupid things and don't give a damn - we all did.

True. I don't know how old your mother is, but I went to high school in the early 1950s and the "cool" cars then had the rear suspension dropped (to the point that some actually put small wheels under the rear bumper to protect it when entering driveways and such), with fender skirts for the rear wheel cutouts and continental spare tire carriers. There were some cars like that in the student lot at my high school that would easily win first prize if they showed up at any hot rod show today -- and they were the kids' daily drivers.

What goes around, comes around.

I need to get in on this rant.  I don't understand it either.  I recently bought an old Datsun car.  It seems the "in" thing on those poor cars is to lower them by a inch or so.  Why anyone would cut the factory springs on a 45 year old classic car is beyond me.  Then they put rubber band tires on the poor thing.

My truck was Comanche of the month a few years ago.  I am ashamed of my Comanche of the month photos because I didn't fix the rake in my springs yet.  It looks like I lowered it in the front.  How embarrassing.

I guess I'm odd. I like lots of stuff. Lowered, lifted, modified, stock. To me it depends on the vehicle and what was done, or not done. I remember getting sick to my stomach watching Boyd Codington on TV buy a running, driving, nice model T from an older gentleman. Then they proceeded to cut it up and throw away 95% of it to build a custom street rod. While I like street rods it was a sin to cut up a nice original vehicle like that when there are lots of crap or aftermarket options to build off of.

This, I hope to never understand. :ack:
