gear ratio questions

what gear ratio is everybody running in their MJ? I am thinking about changing mine. i'm talking everyday drivers and toys

I'm using 4.10.

 

4.0 Ho & 33x12.5" tires.

 

Works fine, don't really feel the need to go higher gears atm, Use it around town & wheeling.

I'm running 4.56's and 315/75 16's (34's). It's my daily driver. 5spd also. I love it.

'87 4.0L 5-speed on stock tires: 3.07

 

'88 4.0L 5-speed on 31s: 3.73

Ive got 5.38s which sounds crazy without knowing the rest of my set up.

i meant to fix my signature last night but forgot. I just bought a 90 Pioneer with a 3'' pro comp lift. 5 speed. 31's. i will try and remember to take some pictures tomorrow

If you're going to stick with 31's get 4.10's.

They work great with 31-32" tires.

4.0/aw4 4.88 on 33", looking for some 35"

2.8L/AX-5 4.10 ratio with 33x12.50r15 works great for me with the manual but once I get 35s I will need to upgrade to 4.88 or higher

I'm running 4.10's and 31's.  It's a good highway/trail ratio with a 4.0 and 5-speed.  Here in the Colorado mountains at 8K ft. elevation where I live, the 4.0 runs out of wind so I think I'd regear for larger tires.  It's a hot rod at sea level though.
