MrSimon Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 I'm thinking about buying this truck. Here are the pics I've received so far. The owner says its an 86. Is there any way to confirm that from these pics? I was really hoping for an 87 or newer.
shelbyluvv Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 It is at least an 87. There was no 4.0 or short bed in 86.
neohic Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 I like this game... I'm going to say it's a '90. Still a RENIX, but it doesn't have the c101 connection on the firewall. :crossfingers:

MrSimon Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 Thanks guys! You rock. I'm going to look at it tomorrow afternoon. I'll post up the results tomorrow evening.
gogmorgo Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 The only way to know for sure is to check the vin. The door sticker could tell you build date, although they're often illegible and its possible the door got swapped at some point. Emissions stickers will give you model year. While it takes the fun out of the game, you should probably ask for the vin. Check digit 10. G=1986, H=1987, J=1988, K=1989, L=1990, M=1991, N=1992.
MrSimon Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 Thanks for the VIN codes ... that is helpful and I'll definitely check it. But as long as its not an 86, I'm happy.
onlyinajeep726 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 It is at least an 87. There was no 4.0 or short bed in 86. No 4.0L in an '86? :brows: I beg to differ... hahaha... Thanks for the VIN codes ... that is helpful and I'll definitely check it. But as long as its not an 86, I'm happy. What's wrong with an '86? lol :rotf:
MrSimon Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 Nobody asked so I will....How Much $$$ More than its worth probobly ... but then again, its a Comanche  But I was able to confirm via the title that it is indeed a 1990. You guys are GOOOOOD!
RochesterMJ Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 You should post up some details and asking price. Members here can confirm if its in range or not. My 2 cents: If the owner doesn't even know what year it is...then you should be paying less than its worth.
sinkrun Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 All the brown rust around the pressure bottle and under it is not a good sign.

onlyinajeep726 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I know! You have sweet build too. The damn thing gone wild!
MrSimon Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 I drove 1.5 hours to pick this up .... but it was a piece of crap. The kid lied to me about a lot of things. I was pissed.
RochesterMJ Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 That sucks. Glad to hear you were smart enough to walk away from it, it only cost you a car ride.

I think we're talking "from the factory" here. Just the same as "no shortbox" yet I had one on my '86 I was going to extend the cab on. :laughin:
