snakedoc67
I'm looking to do a tune up and looking for opinions on the best spark plugs, wires, etc to use with the Manche.
ComancheKid45
Good old Champion Copper plugs pn: RC9YC
onlyinajeep726
I concur with the above. Champion Coppers all the way, everyday. Make sure you check the gapping before you install and some antiseize on the threads never hurts.
Eagle
IMHO for a Renix engine NGK plugs are best -- the standard ones, not platinum. Close second are the Champion truck plugs.
Oyaji
IMHO for a Renix engine NGK plugs are best -- the standard ones, not platinum. Close second are the Champion truck plugs. :agree: . (For HO - never had a Renix). Personal preference only; I prefer the cadmium(?) plating on the NGKs (and Bosches too) to the zinc plating on Champions because it is more durable. Probably makes no difference to most people, but I am both meticulous and cheap when it comes to spark plugs (and a lot of other stuff too). What most folks would toss in the trash, I refurbish with a file (to re-flatten the center electrode once worn rounded to enhance/rejuvenate spark generation capability). GirsMJ86
I agree with Eagle on NGK plugs as well. Ran great in my old Talon and BMW, the '88 I just got will be getting some swapped in soon enough.
RamblinRingo
I work at O'Riellys and ALWAYS suggest Champion Coppers for jeeps and dodge trucks, a spark is a spark. I run NGKs in my brothers civic and in my pit bike but dodge and jeep if say stick with what dodge put in there

cruiser54
In my 2.5 I run bosh iridiums and I love them it smoothed acceleration a bit to Probably because you needed new plugs anyway. I will never use Bosch again as I have done back to back tests with them versus NGKs. Both times I was fighting a driveability problem for someone else. Out with bosch, in with NGKs. Problem solved. carnuck
Bosch Platinums don't live as long with CDI or HEI ignition. The old racers story is Champions are sold in boxes of 10 so you have a good chance of getting 8 good ones in a box. (I think that was more how the warehouse handled them and dropped so many things that caused it) If you have a ping issue, NGK BKR6EK plugs tend to fix it. (EGR is disconnected on mine with no ping) Plain old factory Autolites are good but not to fight ping.

Dzimm
Champion copper. Tried NGK in my 97+ truck when I first built it and they didn't last long (biased due to an issue causing excessive fuel). My 95XJ had a super old Champion plug in cylinder 6 because someone apparently didn't know how to change it so they left it. Looked like it had been in it since 95 but it still worked. Never had an issue with Champions and will always use them in a 4.0L. As far as wires, I get the middle of the road of whatever the auto parts store has. 13 Legion
Ended up going with Autolite Platinums. Had NGKs in there and well let’s just say they were long overdue to be changed. One plug was pretty bad. The other 3 looked rough. Sounded great on startup. Not much of a choice on wires at Autozone. Duralast or Denso. I went with Duralast. localyocal
Hello all. What are the correct spark plugs for a 1986 Comanche with the GM V-6? Edited October 27, 2021 by localyocal stated wrong year
75sv1
I used NGK on my '98 and 2000 XJs. I did have Champion Truck Plugs in the '98. I think the insulators break very easy. I think they have obsoleted them or NAPA stopped carrying them. For wire: Magnecor USA – Spark Plug Wires Still, Some of the Performance wires, Taylor, Morso etc. would be good. Also, get cap and rotor with brass.
