Dog Tax.... Do You Pay It?

Do you guys register your dogs?

 

I just got a letter from the city saying

"It has come to our attention that you have a dog"

bla bla bla

we want our dog tax, or you will be fined.

 

I think maybe the vet submitted the rabies vaccine paperwork to them.

 

Funny part is the dog spends less than one day a month at the house in that city,

but that's the address the vet has.

Ask them if theres a cat tax if no (most likely no)ask them why you should have to pay a dog tax. Oh no dog tax here just a license.

A dog license IS a dog tax. It helps the city/county pay for animal control...the guys that scrape squashed, mutilated, stinking dead animals off the road. Dog catchers, animal shelters etc.

 

Just establish the dog's "residence" and go at it that way. Otherwise pay it to avoid the fine...it'll also show up on court records. It showed up on my buddy's police record...the ONLY thing on his police record, twice!!!

 

And no, there's no cat, ferret, rat, turtle, fish, snake or racoon license either. Dogs are victims of discrimination

Yeah, dog license is what I meant by dog tax.

 

Unless it means my dog has the city's permission to drive a car,

its just another tax,

no matter what they call it.

 

City hall is closed Fridays,

the fines start if its not paid by Tuesday (also closed that day).

 

I guess I'll have to pay them a visit for the 1/2 day they're open Monday.

Tell them that your dog is currently unemployed and is not earning any income.

 

Also, that he in not eligable to receive unemployment.

 

That as soon as he finds a job he file and pay any taxes owed.

all i had to pay was like $90 when i get my dog from the pound, guess that is a tax, The dog is supposed to be "free"

We pay ours. When one of my dogs bit the neighbor I'm sure the fine would have been worse if she was not licensed.

Its five dollars here. When the village police visited me over that, I asked would they prefer I bring all the stray cats to village hall alive or dead?? If they want me to liscense my dog, then they need to control the stray cat colony down the alley from me. They said they didn't want the cats.. I told them I didn't think I should pay the fee until they kept their end of the bargain.

 

Needless to say, I didn't pay the 5 bucks. The cats are still there. Albeit with more BBs in their rumps.

So I explained to her that my Dog is unemployed, lazy, can't speak English and has no clue who his Daddy is. So she looked in her policy book to see what it takes to qualify. My Dog gets his first check Friday. What a great country this is.

License here is $12 per year. Not paying it causes a headache worth more than that so I pay it.

I haven't paid my registration yet, but I'm going to. The animal shelter by us is great and I have no problem giving them my money for what they do.

Its just so they can track you down with a Dog at Large citation if your dog escapes and is caught while wandering around. With that said, yes our 3x taxes have been paid.
