Irrational (Automotive) Desires?

Irrational,

Like Deuce & a half axles on anything but a Deuce,

tunnel ram on a street car,

or daily driving an M715 :)

Mine is,

I want to build something with a Jeep Vigilante 327 engine;

http://jubileejeeps.org/327/

AMC's first gen V8 'bigblock'.

I don't know why I want one,

I just REALLY do.

Almost any build with one would work,

I thought a stock 1960's FSJ would be perfect,

Now I'm thinking what I REALLY want is a flatty Jeep pickup with a Vigilante swapped in.

Points distributor, mechanical voltage regulator, and daily driven :D

Tall skinny bias ply tires on 16" steel wheels & a granny 4 speed

What do you think?

Irrational?

Anyone have an AMC 327 to donate to the cause :D

& what is your irrational (automotive) desire?

Hey now. Its gotta be good cause they started building it in '77 and didn't stop until this September. :rotf:

But yes, irrational's the operating word.

Yep. They only built one back in '77 and didn't get it sold until this Sep. :rotf:

:peek: You didn't hear it from me, but... I like rusty MJs, As much as everyone in the rust belt goes crazy over a clean truck, I'm no different. The problem comes in that as long as I live in Minnesota I don't see the point in driving anything nice during the winter just because it won't last. Don't get me wrong! I love my rust free trucks and I wouldn't trade them for anything! Then on the other hand, what about the majority of availability in my area? Think of it like this... what happens at the animal shelter to all the old and tired dogs and cats who nobody wants? Yeah, it's kind of like that. I don't mind being a nursing home for "elderly animals". Such as...

Okay... so that last one is mine. That's only because I can't save them all! Rusty MJs need lovin' too.

There's a J2000 Gladiator in a fella's yard about 500 meters from me, it's windows are covered in green pine tree sap, hasn't moved in a while...and I want it so bad...it would be my daily driver in a heart beat.

Then there's this FC150 which if I had the money to buy would be my daily too...only because of its "CDI" factor. I'll have it one day, and I will not be talked out of it! :fs1:

I'm not sure how irrational this really is. Impractical maybe, but not necessarilly irrational.

Mine would be an M715 mildly built. A rat rod from the '20's or '30's with an odd or wild engine... maybe even a Jeep Tornado 6. A well built air cooled VW sandrail... street legal of course. And my ultimate.... a replica 1955 Porsche 550 spyder.

Chico: Why a duck? Why not a chicken?

Groucho: Well, I don’t know why not a chicken. I’m a stranger here myself. I know that’s a viaduct. You try to cross over there on a chicken and you’ll find out why a duck.

Chico: But why-

Groucho: It’s deep water, that’s why a duck. Look here, suppose you were out horseback riding and you came to that stream and you wanted to ford over. But you can’t. It’s too deep.

Chico: What would you want with a Ford when you got a horse?

Groucho: Well, I’m sorry the matter came up. I just know that that’s a viaduct.

Chico: Listen. I catch on to why a horse, why a chicken, why a this, why a that, but I don’t catch on to why a duck.

Groucho: I was only fooling. They’re going to build a tunnel there in the morning. Is that clear to you?

Chico: Yes, everything except for why a duck.

M677

IIRC there were less than 400 M6XX variants made, last number I read was only 35 or so of these survive. I just can't see why so many gearheads cream their pants over a chevelle or a corvette when hundred of thousands of those were made. M677s were the creme de la creme of FCs. I've seen two on ebay in the last two years and neither went for the ridiculous amounts that stupid mustangs and camaros go for, and there were millions of them made. I'd like to take an FC and crush one of those pretty painted girly muscle cars.
