i wish i would find some of those on a shelf somewhere.

Wishing doesn't get it done. Calling people stupid for someone overpaying for an item in your opinion for something they want is also stupid. Describing a buyer's purchase price as ridiculous for very rare NOS parts is also ridiculous. Some people want NOS parts because they really are NEW OLD STOCK and might never be available again. Plus they can afford it. If you can't, no need for negative comments.

I have to agree with hornbrod here. There was more than just one person bidding to get it that high. So obviously the value of NOS tail lights was set at the end of the auction. I personally don't have a comanche worthy of such nice things, however if someone was doing a perfect restore... What's also nice about auctions like this is everyone needs to print a copy for insurance purposes, just incase you get rear ended you have proof that your tail lights are very expensive.

I too agree with hornbrod. Same arguement can be said for pretty much anything people are willing to pay for. No reason to be angry with the gorgeous 20-something female stripper........ makin' big bank for something she has that lots of people want to see.

Although I'm not sure using this auction as an example for an insurance claim is gonna work well......... it'll just get your junk totalled that much quicker I'm thinking. :dunno:

Sadly, if we see any more of this, it may just do that...I don't like changing the stock look of the jeeps, but because the tailights are so rare, I'm thinking about making boxes to house LED tail lights in the future

i can agree with you on the NOS thing. i was that way when i was into kramer guitars. however half a grand for tail lights is a bit much. like you said though if they want it bad enough who cares the price. i still think its pretty ridiculous though even for NOS lights. then again my MJ is a trail rig not a beauty queen. oh and i can afford it if i wanted to, so my negative comment sticks

ended at 560

that is so high its ridiculous, i wish i would find some of those on a shelf somewhere.

So that's where those tail lights went from the NOS cache in New York. :D

I think we'll see some NOS tailgates, NOS doors, and quite possibly NOS outer bed panels for sale on Ebay before long. :clapping:

Your comment sticks? Give me a break. And jello nails to a wall too right? We are talking about an auction on new parts for a limited production truck. There won't be too many remaining oportunities.

I didnt buy the lights because I already had a NOS set but you can bet if I needed them, I would have bought them myself. I wouldnt have cared how much they cost. I can't understand how anyone can make a broad statement on the value of something.

People on this forum will spend thousands on hacking their trucks. I wouldnt spend $20 to do that. On the other hand, I spent quite a bit to restore mine. Many people wouldnt have done that either. Does that make me "Stupid"? The value of anything is measured by what someone is willing to pay for it.

I spent $130 on a NOS cargo light and switch that I will never install..but just in case.

yup sticks because i can afford them if i wanted is what i was referring too. he said if you can't, don't say anything. plus people can make broad statements like that because they are opinions. just like a$$holes, everybody has one. just seems mine arent what most think. so be it. paying that much for lights, even though they are "rare" still isnt worth it to me. sure maybe if i bought an MJ to baby it but i didnt. so i wouldnt pay that. so i still say its stupid ridiculous.

i completely agreed earlier about NOS parts and people paying for them because its what they want no matter the price. i can understand that. so it just boils down to my opinion vs. yours, his and whoever else would pay that amount. we'll never agree on those lights at this point in time. i mean with that 560 dollars you could buy a lot more used lights, polish, buff, clean, shine and have exactly the same thing but multiple. sure its not NOS but they'll look pretty freaking close.

NOS parts are the same as new stock dealer parts there pricey but if you want the best thats what you buy plus there are no Chinese copys to to be had. I bet a set a set of new jeep grand Cherokee lights from the dealer would be over $500.00. These lights have brought over $500.00 in the past and some nice used ones have came quite close.

I never said someone paying that much is ridiculous, you can spend your money how ever you want, but I think the price is ridiculously high; in my opinion its way too much to pay for taillights on any vehicle.

:dunno: I don't think that opinion is unreasonable or that it is negative to offer that opinion.

:fs2: Don't smash my dreams!!

either way

This thread.... :shake: :shake:

That truck. :dunno: Good looking for what it is, and kudos for the guy spending bucks on NOS gear for it and modding it out; definitely not my cup of tea though. I would say something else, but I've alredy read enough bickering posts for one day.

This also makes me think about cleaning up the spare pair I have and putting them up for auction. They're about the nicest, dirtiest tailights I've ever seen.
