Spring Fever

Well since we haven't see a whole week above 50* since Thanksgiving, I'll really been itching for the warm weather again.

I thought it might be fun to post up pics of what non-jeep activities you guys are looking forward this spring/summer.

I can't wait to get back out fishing, and drag the camper around.

Not me in the picture. Full composite airframe, which I would not recommend as it flew maybe 40 times then a pushrod came loose and it slammed into the top of a tree then came crashing down to earth. Flew really nice though. Really hard to repair and rebalance unlike balsa. Scrapped the body and started over.

And the Raptor 30 and a Dept. of Defense Chopper.

wow, you guys build the big pretty ones.

I used to just make variations on an ugly stick or joy stick, ones that don't make you cry when you lose it to an aero competion. Then put the beefiest landing gear and the best motor I had available in. I never really just loved the building process, just the touch and go and dixie death competitions. Combat was fun too. I got into profile models, thinking about getting back into it actually.

my next 6 months will be nothing but ground school and Nav school. I start in 2 weeks hopefully, will fly the T-6 texan2 for around 40 flights this go around.

close...

the new ones are a turbo prop. glass cockpit, martin baker ejection seat. Outperforms the older tweet jet trainer in every aspect. Fully Aerobatic, thing is almost as fast as our t-1 jet trainer. I do not have a good picture in photobucket, so I just linked to the AF fact sheet.

those originals look great though.

These T6s stayed the night on the way to Oshkosh. Put on a hell of a show when they left. Nothing like the sound of a big radial engine, let alone 5 in one spot.

Been around T6's and warbirds all my life. Have a lot of time behind one actually. We at one point had over 50 of them on the field as all the South African imported ones (you'll see them with the bright orange cowls and yellow numbers on the side) were restored here.

Got quite a few neat warbirds locally. Field was home to Scat VII (P51 Mustang) which was at one point claimed to be the "nicest" P51 flying and was the only flying Mustang that the Ace was still alive, but unfortunately we lost a good friend when he crashed it due to engine problems. RIP Jim!

This was the last "cool" one we had.

Been going to Oshkosh about every year of my entire life. Haven't been back since a good friend did this a few years ago. If you look close you can see my father in the pic. Sad thing is that the Avenger spend the night in our hanger 2 days prior.

I just want it to warm up so me the the little one can go putz around again in "her" plane.

Looks like we all have some great hobbies!!! Never knew how many on here are into flying

Love the B-25  If things go well this year, and money for the hobby is not cut off we are going to build a large B-25 next winter :clapping:
