what did you do to your MJ today?

As I was installing my 4x4 front axle for the conversion, I noticed that my front brake hoses were in terrible shape, so I replaced them today with some YJ stainless hoses I bought a while back. I can't beleive that between the new hoses, new pads, and new rotors how much better my brakes feel! Its great.... I wonder how good the brakes would be if the rear valve was disconnected? Or if I had the WJ master that I want to do! How much better can it get?!?! And my DW problem is still there, it happened to me twice today, so up on the lift it went with a guy inside... the TJ trackbar I installed when I put the front axle in will move 1/4-3/8" each direction at the axle connection...like the rubber bushing is way too soft or something. And I couldnt notice it by looking, but my outer tie rod ends are slightly loose, I can feel it moving by putting my hand on it when I try to push the wheel back and forth. I'm sure thats not helping things either, but the trac bar bothers me, so I went and bought a 5/8" drill bit so I can install my new Pro comp adjustable trac bar. I ran out of time to install it today, but Ill get it tommorow. And I guess its time to keep an eye out for better, or new tie rod ends! Oh also found out that my new parts XJ is actually a Wagoneer XJ, not that it matters, but I found out that the front axle is a non disco! Still can't read the tags on it, maybe Ill take some sandpaper, a flashlight, and a piece of cardboard to lay on to look at it tommorow to try to figure out what gears it has.... COME ON 4:10's!!!

Today I adjusted the headlights a bit.

That's a nice looking topper!!

Make sure you have a good ground on that antenna. The ground plane will suk with mounting it that lo to the ground, but the 102" of ariel will help some. Side of the bed is better if you don't mind drilling holes. You get at least a 2" SQ ground plane.

I'd like to redo the "topper" with some black nylon material, don't care for the faded blue.

The antenna worked pretty good on top of the cab, but being so high it was hitting trees and other low stuff.

It's a bit of a bell ringer when the antenna makes a strike. Plus the sheet metal on the cab was kind of weak and tended to flex a bit. Most of the time the antenna laid flat on the "topper" which is this side of useless. I figured at the back with the option of tying it lower would be better. Not that it matters, CB's have pretty much gone the way of 8 tracks.

I didnt know it was a waggy because the front end and fenders are gone, and the rear hatch, bumper, and lights are gone,,,,like I said... not that it matters. Would have been nice to have spares for my front end on the 87!

Thanks CW. Yes I have a thread it's "87 diamond in the rough" and there is better pics and explanations there. The tire that is on the spare is a 35" but I run 33" tires so I need to get it swapped this week.

And about the Rubi wheels. No I don't run any spacers.

Hubbell,

Looks GREAT!! I like it allot and commented in your thread! GOOD JOB!!

Yesterday, I took it fishing!!

Only caught two small 14" bass and a nice 12" perch... but it was nice day so well worth the trip!

Today I added a piece of 1/2" round stock for a safety chain mount.

First I bent up a piece of stock.

Than I tried a couple positions. Cleaned off all the paint and re clamped for welding..

MAN it was NO FUN welding upside down with slag dropping down your shirt, shorts and up your sleeves...

Then I painted everything up...

Its on and will suite my needs just fine!

Installed my Wagoneer doors with all the power acessories and vent wings, and researched what will be needed to wire them up, then I got some Krylon plastic paint and am in the process of "dyeing" the door panels black to match my interior. Looks good so far. Sorry, no pics, forgot the camera.
