  1. Jeep has been sold. The person buying it is replacing the engine with a rebuilt. It will live to see another trail.
  2. tpjrA9FDRzs Works nicely. Thanks!
  3. ...and why I own a gun. Armed robbers try to force their way into west Sparks home on Thursday night Try that $#!& at my house and you'll be leaving feet first.
  4. That's what I want to do to my Comanche! Is there a write up out there for this?
  5. GL Mine has an AMC20 so they are out there.
  6. Since I spun a rod bearing I've been looking to rebuild or replace the engine. I found this engine: http://www.reno4x4.com/forum/showthread ... M-lift-etc. and was wondering if it would work for the MJ?
  7. Just an update. I spun a rod bearing on the first day of summer and I'm planning on either rebuilding the engine or getting my hands on a running engine to swap in this winter. A friend of mine is thinking about swapping out his '91 2.5L from his YJ for a small block 350. As far as I can figure it would swap in, I just need to get the wiring harness and computer also.
  8. I know I shouldn't go to the DMV (Nevada) on a Monday but it was the only day this week I could make it. They've really gone down hill since they closed the satellite offices. It took me 3 hours and 10 minutes to renew my DL today. 10 minutes of circling the lot to get a parking space, an hour and 10 minutes in line to get my number, another hour and 15 minutes for them to call my number and another 35 minutes for the clerk to get me my new license. :wall: One thing did occur to me while waiting around. Veterans (I'm not one BTW) should get to go to the front of the line at the DMV. Even with all that waiting I'd still give up my place in line for a vet.
  9. So your saying you drove past my house without stopping by!? Rob L. Can you blame him?
  10.
  11. I don't go to the fair to get my daily dose of vegetables. But at least they look like there were beer battered. +1 Again -1 to vegetables. Those sound good! If its walking how do you eat it? You can get that at Wal-Mart. I counter with Pork Chop on a Stick! (I didn't get a pic of mine, it was too delicious)
  12. Do not be afraid to see another doctor about this. Your health is paramount. If you feel you've been given less than the consideration you need, get a second opinion. My step dad is alive today because he got a second opinion instead of going with what the first doctor said. Check with your insurance for other doctors/clinics you can go to.
  13. Just got back from a trip to Minnesota which included a full day at the Minnesota State Fair and I reconnected with my favorite Minnesota fare, Deep Fried Battered Cheese Curds. A taste of home if there ever was one. The best $7 I've spent in a long time. I just wish I could get these here in Nevada.
  14. Hernia operations these days are a very simple procedure. Same day surgery. My brother had one and three days later he was out doing some light hiking. Best of luck!
  15. I don't think embedding YouTube should affect bandwidth as the videos stream from YouTube not CC. You can eaisly block hotlinking to mitigate other sites using your bandwidth. But with the record number of users online being 54 three years ago the overages have to be coming from outside the site. You should be able to find out which files are using the most bandwidth and where that bandwidth is going somewhere in the site's stat tracking.
  16. Is there any way to embed YouTube videos? Rather than just posting links.
  17. I like the DIY mount. A friend of mine did something similar. Yes, those are spring loaded shocks. From the driver's side From the passenger side Close up of the mount and stabilizer bracket. Close up of the shocks...HAHAHAHA View with Google Earth on the screen.
  18. One attraction many may not know about are the pertoglyphs. They are just past the Lakes Basin campgrounds. Also there is Frazier Falls nearby. A spectacular falls to visit in the early spring and a very easy hike to reach (1/2 mile of paved walkway to the falls). That's about it for our visit to Gold Lake.
  19. We also did some exploring and hiking. One easy hike was to Little Gold Lake. It was right behind the campground against a basalt cliff. We also visited Grey-Eagle Creek. And Lilly Lake.
  20. We took a short easy ride up to the Mills Peak Lookout. On the way up we ran across a dog in the middle of the woods and were going WTF? Turns out it was a sheep dog. There were about 5 dogs and a shepherd leading a flock around the moutain to feed. We soon reached the lookout. And what a view!
  21. We hit up the lake for some fishing but were stimied the first two days. It got really windy and made it very difficult to do any trolling at all. Only caught one fish by the second day. But on the third day luck was with us and the wind died down and we found the fish. They were some of the most active fighters I've landed in quite a while.
  22. Its not camping if you don't have a good campfire. A firewood massacre. We took a trip up to Deer Lake from the campground. It was a bit more rough than we planned but well worth the trip. I was sorely dissapointed to see that the fallen tree "underpass" was no more. The old "underpass." But the view at Deer lake was definetly worth the trouble. The Sierra Buttes. Deer Lake.
  23. I thought I'd share a past trip I took to Gold Lake just outside of Graeagle, CA last year. Here's a few videos of the trail to the 4x4 campground (taken on the way out). The trail isn't a techinical one but it's got enough bumps and dips to challenge a stocker. High clearance with 4 low is recomended and street tires are not. We made it through at dusk only using 4 high with some difficulty but it was much eaiser to run in the day. We did see a variety of vehicles on the trail. We ran accross a lifted and built truck that broke a tie rod and a stock Eddie Bauer Explorer on street tires mashing the skiny pedal (we found out they were stacking rocks to get thru afterwards). A couple pics of the trail to the campsite. A little rock rash. The campsites along the water were great. It was nice to camp on a lake where you were next to the water rather than 50'-100' away like some others with the drought. The campground was suprisingly busy for the weekdays. 70-80% of the sites were occupied with lots of campers coming and going. Plenty of shade on our site. We were right on the water. It made for a great campsite (#4). The local camp bums. They stoped by at least twice a day begging for food. Trout and corn on the cob over the campfire.
  24. Bump. This happening? I want one.
  25. OK now were getting into information overload. I just want to replace my 1986 2.5L with an engine that I can basically overhaul and bolt in. This is my winter project, but I'd like to get the right engine at the start.
