Lenard
Checked the oil, as always low, filled it up. Took FL tire to town, got it patched. And wiped the VC down. I think the engine looks BA with the VC always clean
deziped
Put a pint of 80-90- in front diff. Thought about going to JY & picking up 93-98 VC. Question - are 93 to 98 VC steel or plastic?
comanche12
fighted with cluster guages wires. someone idiot cutted the wires and leave it in electric tapes which my cluster gauges won't light up, rpm, mph, battery, etc won't functional at all so i hooked some back together so now finally the light was lit up well :) havent test those gauges cause my key was snapped off :( blame on brass metal dense quality
2360
Today I pulled the front wheels, hoping to find why I got a vibration going down the freeway. And I pulled the drum off the right rear cause when I back up there's growl/squeal noise. Thought maybe some of the brake components fell apart, again. Everything was good. Then I pulled the rear bumper off to put some POR15 on some rusty spots under there. Yesterday I put a grey Cherokee carpet in the cab. Had do some cutting to fit it in. Day before that, went to pick and pull and put in another starter. 20 bucks, I love it. Stopped at a car wash just before going to work. Washed the comanche, started it, then shut it off cause the rev's wouldn't go down. Tried to start it, nothing. Just the clicking sputtering of the fuel pump. Great! Push the comanche out of the stall and then had brain wave. Grabbed a cresent wrench crawled under and smacked the starter a few times. Much to my delight the comanche started right up. That was close, the comanche almost left me high and dry for I think the first time, save having an accident back in 93. More to follow in the days ahead. Chow. Lloyd
What haven't I done?? Haven't been able to get on the computer lately because I have been hard at it for awhile every evening. Trying to find my easiest route to post the pictures (not trying all that hard, but trying.). There won't be as many as I'd like, and I only have the camera phone to use. I got the automatic transmission in and working. I was so excited to have it moving the first time in almost 3 years I drove it around the block by reaching with a metal bar through the floor to shift into gear. Had a friend who works at a Jeep dealership in Ft. Worth bring me a floor shifter and cable. Well, he brought the right shifter anyway, and a throttle cable. LOL. So went back to the JY(U-Pull-It, Elm Mott, TX) Got the shifter right cable, and the mount for the shifter I didn't know I was going to need. Also got the Upgrade cluster with Guages instead of "idiot lights". Saw much more that I wanted. A cherry of an 86' Comanche. Had a camper shell I'd love to have, and a pristine interior. Absolutely beautiful to a fan, red interior w/bucket seats. But I took out my carpet and sanded out the rust, covered the floor with undercoating. Took the carpet to the carwash and powered out as much of the dirt and grime as I could. (I'm a poor boy on a budget, love my daughters but child support takes a good bite of the weekly pay) Put it all together and the instrument cluster changed. Snagged a digital clock insert. Now looking for the easiest and cheapest insurer, then tags and inspection and she'll be my only transpo for awhile. One of my first other than work destinations is the scrap metal yard to sell some old radiators and catalytict converters that have been accumilating, and other odds and ends to try and get enough money to get the Buick fixed so I can have 2 vehicles going. When I get the patience to sit here and do it, I'll be posting the pics I have so far.. Thanks to all who have helped me with advice and instructions. I'm going to go through all my bolts now with a bit of locktite. Now that I'm sure of the assembly working. I really can't explain how grateful I am to this site and the people on here who give freely of their knowledge and experience. Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!

dasbulliwagen
got the 86 truck in the shop after sweating my buttocks off bolting the rear axle back in, and re attaching the steering assy so it could be dragged in easier. Pulle d the 87 in at 10 this morning an put them both on lifts and to work I went with swapping the front axles for my next step in my 4x4 conversion. Worked on it till 4 PM nonstop just to drive it out of the shop and 1/4 mile up the road to realize that I didnt put any oil in my "new" front diff, so I turned around pulled back in and filled er up. Sorry to those looking for a locked up diff....NOT THIS TIME!!!! I have put a few miles on it around town so far, no problems, and its loaded up now to make a 45 minute trip to a VW swap meet, drag race, and car show tommorow morning first thing..... I hope my front brake lines hold out as they look horrible. That should be my next update, and maybe a pic for MJ's earing their keep!

dasbulliwagen
All went well driving to the VW swap meet, and I sold almost everything, making almost $400!, On the drive back, much lighter, in the middle lane of a 3 lane interstate... brand new smooth road, and out of nowhere.... DEATH WOBBLE!!!! I cut a guy off in the slow lane trying to make it to the shoulder. The wobble stopped, and I slowed down the rest of the way home. I had replaced the track bar while swapping in the front axle with an almost new one I had laying around but was unable to get a cotter pin into it, so I'm hoping maybe it just came loose and it will be an easy fix. I also have an adjustable track bar from Pro-Comp, but couldnt install it because it looks like Ill need to drill out the tapered hole for its new bolt for the heim joint. I'm hoping I don't need new ball joints yet. Time will tell.

aemsee
Well, sunday I changed the oil and found a hole in the front pipe. So ordered one of those. Will do a full exhaust and fix broken manifold studs at the same time. Always something!
CWLONGSHOT
Dusted off the HF Bender and bent up two pipes for my bed side protection!!! I think they came out purdy good for the third and fourth bends ever with it!! I do have two depressions in each pipe, but they are minor andf the pipe is completely useable for my needs.
