installed those interior lights from ebay. they look good. work good too. bought a new dewalt grinder to finish cleaning off those old lower control arm pieces. just need longer bump stops, bar pin eliminators and longer down travel shocks, then those long arms will be put to good use

Finished my spare tire mount...

Still need to figure out a way to lock it. What do you guys think?

Thanks comanche.gif

Chad

First, I would take the threaded rod back out and thread on another nut jammed against the nut you have already welded on, so I would have enough meat to cross drill it for a lock.

Then I would weld a 1/8 X 1" X 3" plate at 90 degrees onto the end of a 7/16" X 5" rod. Drill the end of the plate for access for the lock. Drop the 7/16" rod down through one of the wheel's lug holes and lock the fixture to the double nutted threaded rod.

Or, rather than double nutting the threaded rod, weld a 1/4" X 1" X 1" flat (drilled for the lock) vertical onto the nut you have welded onto the threaded rod to lock them together. Use an adjustable wrench to screw the bolt in and out of the spare wheel.

Yesterday, I had front rotors machined, repacked the bearings, bought a full tank of gas, and put 160 miles on her picking up four 235/70-16s and a bass guitar via local craigslist.

What kind of bass did you get? Been playing a schecter 5 string myself.

Its a cheap starter First Act 4 string bass in sparkly black that I picked up for $30. It has fresh strings on it and has a nice strap and collapsable stand. My 16 year old daughter has had a wild hair of trying to learn guitar for the past year off and on, so to compliment her cheap acoustic 6 string at her mother's, I picked up a bass for her to play with while at my place. She's getting it, but has a loooong way to go.

Awesome! I've been trying to get my two sons into music as well. Older one has a cheepie acoustic six string and the younger one has an electric 4 string.

I told her she can learn any song she wants on the guitars... country, rock, blues, metal, jazz, whatever... as long as it isn't Judas Priest's Living After Midnight... that song is soooooo repetitive to listen to someone practice. The song drives me nuts, and I like Priest!

I had to get Red October smog inspected in order to register. She passed with flying colors. Went to AAA and registered and then drove up to meet Jake/Gogetemturbo to buy his MJ leaf springs for future installation on Red.

Earlier this morning I removed both bucket seats and gave the carpet a thorough vacuuming. It baffles me how people can let their interiors collect debris and clutter for years.

I had to leave work early so I could instruct my mechanic how to properly attach a crossmember to an MJ.... guess what! the rubber mount was on backward! moron...

on dad's mj things went better, i replaced the the drivers side front quarter panel, painted the front of the MJ, painted the grille, polished the Jeep letters and the Comanche emblem.

Today did a little painting under the truck.

Bought a K+N air filter.

Cleaned and gapped the the spark plugs.

On the way home from work, dropped her into 4th and matted the comanche for a little bit, broke the all time speed record for the beast at 138 kph (86 mph). The comanche started rattling/shaking at about 118 kph. I was getting concerned the whole rig make dynamite at any moment, I think the comanche would of climbed more up the speedo but I didn't want to push my luck.

Must of insulted a lot of other cars on highway with my old beater, a pile of them passed me as I slowed down.

The engine felt like it had more pep than usual, not sure if it was doing the plugs or the K+N filter, or both. Whatever, the comanche running better than I ever remember.

Today i pulled out the 9 inch rear end with the lunchbox locker and put a regular 9 inch in. i don't like the gears gonna have to change them out soon. i had 4.10 this one has 3.55's lost a ton of power.i also replaced the tie rod ends up front today. all and all the truck rides a lot better with the new front end parts and unlocked rear.i bought some aluminum rims last weekend i'm looking for some tires to put on them see if that helps with the power loss any for time being.

washed, and waxed blue. apparently when a MJ sits in the sun for 10 months with out being washed and waxed when you get around to doing it, it turns your waxing rags blue?

wired in fog lamp harness and hooked in the "city" lights till i get some fogs.

locked the cad over. checked all the u joints, and still can't find that grinding sound when i turn.
