  1. i would check the CPS especially the wire that leads to it mine was rubbing the manifold and wore the coating off and shorting out and i had same issues. i found that taped it up with electrical tape and it was good until i bought a new cps worth a try :)

i have had a subscription to JP mag for years from time to time i'll pickup a petersons or offroad when I'm in the parts store too never heard of the jeep junkie one i'd probably have subscribed to it also
  5. mine did that a few times i found the wires on the cps had contacted the exhaust manifold and burnt the coating off, as it went down the road it would rub on the manifold more and ground out sending faulty signals i guess. i taped it up and moved it away from the manifold and ran it like that a few months till i remembered it needed replaced never happened again after i taped it up though.

    GPS?

I have a tomtom does the job for me. i usually turn the volume down and just look at the road map part.i like it because it tells you how far your next turn is and which way you'll be turning so you can get in the correct lane ahead of time.i've had it several years and you can hook it to the computer and download any voice you want in almost any language.i think with tomtom you get free map updates for a year then its like 80$ a year to update and the updates are every 4 months.i still get free tech updates.mine shows forest roads too. i've never had a garmin or the other so i can't comment on them. i like the tomtom though, i will definately buy another one if this on crashes.hope this helps :)
  8. Sometimes theres a bracket/brace that is bolted on also. you didnt say what engine so I'm not sure.ive only messed with the 258 or 242 once you get the 2 or 3 bolts out if you grab the oil pump and spin/twist it around some it will usually slide out. they get alot of tarnish/ crude in there that sticks them. when it does come out more oil will pour out so don't get directly under it.
  9. Military Contractor at present i reset Hwmmv's at Ft Bragg last year i repaired generators in Iraq next year no idea :)
  10. i left Mt Dora when i was 17 that was 30 years ago.lake county is nice to visit but the work situation there sucks.Marion county is probably worse.i was making 13.50 an hour as a diesel tech with 12 years exp and a 2 year Certificate.and those where the good days before the economy went to $#!&.call Dora landscaping in Apopka see if they hiring.they paid pretty decent for a Landscape company back in the day.Hope things get better for ya Bro.
  11. i set the backlash and checked the gear tooth pattern.first gear setup i've done really. i watched a few videos on youtube before i started. everything seemed to work out ok i drove it several times and everything seems ok. time will tell i guess.
  12. Several weeks ago i went and got another ford 9 inch chunk from an old 70's model ford pickup 2wd.i put it in the truck but couldnt use the 4wd cause the gears were wrong, today i pulled the chunk and put my old gears on.when i had it apart i found it had the ford limited slip unit on it. so basically i got a complete 9 inch rear with lsd for 50$ , i normally run detroits or lokrite lockers which don't require any special oils or additives etc. what additive do i put in this and how much. i've alrady put gear oil in it as i bought regular gear oil not knowing it had the limited slip unit in it. and the 9 inch doesnt have a drain plug. Thanks John
  13. /that guy has alot of self discipline, about the time she said ignorant i would have punched her in the face. reminds me of the smug episode of south park lol
  14. check the CPS wires didnt get scratched and may be shorting out. mine did that a few times got burnt on the exhaust and would sometimes short out it never really died but would run like crap for a few seconds or so. i taped it up nd ran it for a few months till i remembered i needed a new one :)
  15. When i switched my YJ over to new axles they didnt come with locking hubs so the front end was always turning. driving the front ds back thru the transfer.the new front axle was a 44 so it was a little longer in the yoke. i just took the ds out and uct about an inch off of it at the splines. this loosened the blue plastic that is there so i just pulled it off. it worked great until i drove it on the road.where it vibrated really bad.once we figured out what was happening i had a new one made and it drove smooth as could be after that.
