  1. That is the one I was thinking about, too. It is in a metal case over by the battery. It's the one I had to replace when it stuck and drove my Comanche off the lift. -Tom
  2. Hi, MiNi, We will be placing an order with our supplier today, if you want a set. The Comanche Club price will be $24.83 for the shackle bushing and $16.22 for the anchor bushing, plus shipping. (Price has nothing to do with size where spring bushings are concerned.) You may be able to find them cheaper elsewhere. Send me a PM, if you want them. -Tom
  3. I got mine at NAPA. I don't remember the part number. If they can't find it under "Comanche", have them look under "Cherokee". -Tom
  4. Pete and Eagle are correct. The bushings are identical on the 2WD and 4WD models, and all except the Metric Tonne springs have the same main leaves. The larger (anchor) bushing is 2-1/2" O.D., and the smaller (shackle) bushing is 1-3/4" O.D. Poly is a bad choice for the Comanche, as they squeak horribly. Just ask BLHTAZ. -Tom
  5. You are correct Eagle. I went from manual to power steering and like it a lot. The manual steering pitman arm and box has a smaller output shaft than the power combination. You will really not like the manual steering. I could not wait to get rid of mine. -Tom
  6. I assume this was directed to me. Good point, Correy. No, Rough Country only has one 3", 4.5" and 6.5" coil listed for our trucks. I guess i will have to get out the tape measure again. I should have said, I went from a 3 inch lift to a 4.5 inch lift and gained 1.5 inches on the front over the 3 inch lift. I assumed that the 3" lift gave me 3" of lift, but you know what happens when you @$$-u-me. -Tom
  7. Hi, Robert, I have Rough Country 4.5" front end parts on my Comanche, and they gave me 4.5" as advertised. -Tom
  8. We sell both now. You can buy the complete MT spring packs, a long add-a-leaf that goes in the #2 position under the main leaf or a long 2nd stage leaf that goes above your current thick 2nd stage leaf. All are available on our website. Thanks, Tom
  9. Speaking of relays, I found this interesting reading: http://www.bcae1.com/relays.htm Tom
  10. Hey CW, do you know anybody that reloads? :D :D :D Quite a collection you have there. Most of mine are pistols. My all time favorite is my Thompson Contender. I have about 14 different barrels, and, yes, I reload, too, though i haven't done so in quite some time. Tom
  11. Hi, The only stock springs that we sell are the Metric Ton springs. Thanks for looking, Tom
  12. That is really a sad end to a beautiful classic. It just goes to prove that you can tell what is in an "artist's" mind by the "art" that he produces. :shake:
  13. I drive a 1989 MJ with a 2.5L, and, as Pat says, it is throttle body injected. It is a good, stout little engine for a daily driver. -Tom
  14. Our website has just been updated. We have removed the MJ listing from the shackle kit, added the 3/4" and 1-3/4" front Daystar coil spacer kits for the front and added our MJ add-a-leaves. We have also added a notation that all kits on our website that are designated "RC" are Rough Country kits, so there is no confusion. Thanks, Tom
  15. I just checked with Daystar on this, and they have discontinued this kit for the MJs and changed the part number from KJ09106 to KJ09105 for just the Cherokees. While the spacers would work to lift the front of our Comanches, Eagle is correct that the shackles would do little, if anything, to lift the rear. It looks like we will have to change our website again. Sorry
  16. Hi, Aaron, I received your PM, but I wanted to answer your question on the forum, so the rest of the guys could see the answer. The reason that the SOA perches have a 5/8" hole is that the stock springs have the center bolt head on the top for a standard SUA application. To keep people from having to remove the bolt and turn it over, they drill the SOA perches to 5/8" to fit over the nut. Yes, a socket head cap screw will work very well for a spring center bolt in a SOA application. The centering hole in the factory SUA perch is 12mm, so we turn down the standard 9/16" bolt heads in a lathe before we install them in our springs. The head size on a 3/8" socket head cap screw is also 9/16". Eagle is absolutely correct (as always), the center bolt merely holds the spring pack together and locates the spring on the axle perch. -Tom
  17. Hi, I just thought that y'all ought to know that our XJ and MJ kits are made up of our rear springs and Rough Country front parts. The 6 inch kits are 100% Rough Country. They have good parts; that's why we use them, but I don't like surprises, and I treat my customers the same way. Tom
  18. :agree: Unless you are racing your truck, you shouldn't need a Centerforce.
  19. Don't forget the old refrigerator and bench seat from an old pickup on the front porch.
  20. The length of the single diaphragm booster rod is 4-7/8" from the mounting flange of the booster to the center of the booster rod eye. The length of the '95-'96 booster rod is 5-1/4" measured the same way, so you need the 1/4" spacer. I actually made mine out of 3/8" aluminum to get the new one exactly the same as the old one. -Tom
  21. We are now offering a 10% discount for all Comanche Club members on our complete lift kits, individual springs and leaves - in fact everything on our website. We have the following for MJ Comanches: 3", 4-1/2" and 6" Lift Kits. These combine our Mississippi Made rear leaf springs with Rough Country parts. 3", 4-1/2" lift springs and stock Metric Tonne rear leaf springs Long add-a-leaves specifically designed for our trucks. These are basically MJ main leaves with the eyes cut off and the ends tapered. They are installed between the existing #2 leaf and the main leaf and are just short enough to not interfere with the spring eyes. They have the same arch as the lowest arched standard MJ rear spring, so they should not increase the ride height all that much, depending on your stock springs, but they will increase your carrying capacity. We designed these after reading your threads and comments on add-a leaves. They will retail for $74.95 a set, plus shipping, so the CC price will be $67.45, plus shipping. They are not on our website yet, because we don't have any pictures, yet, but you can order them by contacting me directly. The kits will include two leaves, new center bolts and four "quick clips". We also have Metric Tonne add-a-leaves. These are longer thick leaves that will install above your stock 2nd stage bottom leaf. They will not turn your stock springs into Metric Tonne springs, because the Metric Tonne main spring pack is made from thicker steel than the standard stock springs, but they will increase your payload significantly. The kit comes with two leaves and new center bolts. They will also retail for $74.95 per set, plus shipping, so the CC price will be $67.45, plus shipping. These also are not on our website yet for the same reason. To get your Comanche Club discount when buying on our website, just enter the code - ComancheClub - in the space provided on our 1st checkout page and click the "Recalculate" button. To get your discount by phone, just mention that you are a member of the Comanche Club. For you members who have Jeepsters, XJs FSJs or any other 4WD, we have kits available for those as well. Thanks, Tom Laher Hell Creek Suspensions, Inc. (662) 534-2216 http://www.hellcreeksuspensions.com
  22. Here is a link to the entire thread on IFSJA (International Full Size Jeep Association). http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?t=108916 It appears to be some good stuff, but I have yet to try it. -Tom
  23. http://www.hellcreeksuspensions.com We make springs / suspension kits for Jeepsters, FSJs, and our beloved MJs.
  24. Repairing a broken vacuum line is easy. Just cut the plastic line where the hole is and slip both ends into a properly sized piece of vacuum hose. -Tom
  25. Hi, Justin, Yes - do it. I just finished the swap on my 1989, and you would not believe the difference it makes. A bit of warning, though; after the swap, go easy on the brakes until you get used to them. They will lock up easily, if you apply them like you are used to with your current setup. Also, you will need the 1/4" spacer from your donor vehicle that goes between the booster and the firewall. -Tom
