yea..doubtless you do. here's the diff cover for the chryco 8.25 new yoke new pinion seal and yoke installed/pumpkin's painted yoke's painted too i torched off the remainder of the shock mounts, and also the spring mounts (salvageable, will be flipped) so now I just have to do a bit of grinding to clear up the mounting spots, get the new brake pads, and a good set of brake drums (thanks TNT), run new line, and also get a 8.25 vent line bolt since this one the vent nozzle broke off. then I can set it up in the truck, set the angle 1.5* up, tac it and then take it and weld it. thank god I'll have a rear end that can take every day driving let alone a bit of abuse.

Idle Speed Stepper Motor Question-Problem Solved
JeepcoMJ replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
that probably didn't fix it. check your vacuum lines going to the TB...you probably forgot to connect one -
uh...ok. here's pics installed on my 89 when I got it this is what they caused here is the floor for reference to how clean the truck was kept here is how far i had to cut it out b/c they were gone underneath and there was more on the inner side of the pinch seams that had to be cut out. it wasn't pretty. anyways, I'm not suggesting that you not install them. I'm suggesting that you cut the 2.5" or 3" of upright support (that goes from the running board to the pinch weld) off the running boards, and use steel hangers and stainless bolts to secure it instead. oh, they have the bracketry that goes back to the frame rail (3 brackets), and the 5 or so bolts that bolt through the pinch weld which support them. not too big of a deal, but wasn't very fun to remove.

what is it and do I need it for the conversion
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepDew's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
it's cruise. what's more is, if that's a 96 XJ, why does your cruise box say AMC. that's not stock to your vehicle, as in 96 the cruise was different as is the steering column. most likely, your knee-board is a late 80's early 90's era knee-board -
yes, they do. they bolt to the rockers, aluminum on steel causes strange oxidization which turns into rust. not to mention that any $#!& that gets up behind the sidesteps (running boards) is not easily cleaned out unless you hoist the vehicile. most people wouldn't take the effort. take a look at my 89 that TNT has. classic example. on first glance she looks like a real beaut...then you get up behind and the inside of the box is shot (found this out afterwards), and the rockers are completely done for.

Hummer is at it again, "Borrowing" Jeep designs
JeepcoMJ replied to hemi_comanche's topic in The Pub
take a look at the engine bay. don't auto manufacturers get it yet? we DON'T want to have to take out 80 gagillion things to add washer fluid, check oil, and change washer blades. one hood is enough thank you very much. -
Bad Vibrations between 35-45 MPH

cost; Time, Money, Lesson learned....(check and double check everything. always start with what made the change for better or worse...and you come to your culprit) -
haha, pops IDK where you get these crazy ideas of yorn  but, If I had all my own tools set up and an air compressor, I'd have no problem working in the barn. actually, that's a pretty good idea truth be told. Pops, ya need a new air compressor so I can have your old one :brows: :D TNT, it's not off limits, but it IS wet right now. and cold. if I set up a nice lil spot in it for me to work on my jeep it wouldn't be so bad, but I'd need to replace a few windows and move some stuff around, then make a ramp off the end of the barn instead of the dropoff, and then I wouldn't be able to fit something as big as I wanna go in the barn anyways...
-
i thought your pops said no more Jeeps in the garage? that he did... I can get them in to work on them quick but they can't be in for lengthy periods (no real projects...)
-
alright we'll work that out...I don't want to spend any $$$ since this is only temporary really. thanks :D (I managed to get it in the shop as you can see)
-
in a couple pics you see that there is dive gear. so, I bet it was pretty sunk. another pic, you can see how F*ING stupid EVERYONE was during the extraction. I can't even believe they were dumb enough to stand around while that cable was taught. in my book, the people watching are dumber than the person who sunk the truck by far...

if I found a donor xj that was RHD, I'd be doing some firewall chopping and some frame rail replacement on the 3800. I've wanted RHD in ANY vehicle period for the longest time, but the 3800 would be awesome to RHD! others use them as postal...
-
diesel comanches have never been an available commodity. the xj's can be had, but good luck finding an mj. and yep, he's got one. in need of a restore (hopefully starting soon), but honestly a pretty damn good truck.
-
f*k yeah! now that's what I'm talkin bout. I'd effing love to have one of them!
-
helped correy (geonovast) install his home-built 5 speed 4wd tranny in his 91 comanche this weekend, and on the way back, the 3800 started puking her rear axle. we figure at least 7 more ring teeth and 1 pinion tooth. we'll see when I open her up. Anyways, I've got my chryco 8.25 in the shop, had to move around a bunch of stuff first so I could get in, shop is clean now), removed the chopped xj springs from it, and the shock mounts as well as the yoke since the tabs that retain the ujoint caps are broken off. pulled the cover off to find out what kind of shape it's in... which is pretty good shape. BUT the brake drums are shot, and one brake pad is shot as well. I'll need all new brakes for it :( here's the shop all cleaned... if only I could get pops to convert the shop to jeep-only use...

the difference between the MJ bucket and XJ straight is the floor brackets. if you put the xj straight tracks onto the mj bench floor brackets, you end up with an mj bucket bracket. basically the main difference there is the spots they bolt to the floor, as there is a different slope in the xj cab vs. the mj one. if you use anything but the xj straight brackets, your seats end up a good 3" higher than stock...which I actually like in the 3800, and I'm 6'1" tall. BUT I need the leg room too...
-
Pete, can we find a extensive thread or build one on doing xj bucket seats in your mj, and sticky the darn thing. I swear I've seen this a gazillion times in the last month....

other special specs??? come on, you should share it all! :brows:

:D I'd consider mounting it to the stock bed without the OEM bedsides. think that could be done?
-
I think it was close to 1100-1200 all said and done but I had them shipped. not a bad investment considering
-
so how much would you say the front fenders and rear bedsides cost you all told? ...I think I've got a truck for a set of them :D
-
my truck was inspected by the dmv and emissions station because the emissions guy flat refused to believe it was original. and, I got mine from the original owner :D
-
lol, I think he's pretty much there...he did, after all, marry into a spanish speaking family if i'm not mistaken ;)
