  1. we used the np207 because I remembered that I had the correct speedo adapter at home. the front driveshaft is from a 1986 comanche that had a 2.8 v6 and ax5 (my old beater jeep) but would work from a similarly (and 4 cylinder) equipped cherokee. the front output yoke on the np207 is from a np231 since he had the cv shaft output on the np207, and I had a detonated np231 rear driveshaft I forget the length...let me look through our AIM conversations for the length of his rear driveshaft. as for the speed...it ended up taking much longer than it should have...
  2. pm him just to be sure. no kidding, last weekend we did this swap :D
  3. you have a 4 cylinder shortbed? talk to geonovast, he just did the thing and got the correct measurements first try.
  4. Where's tellico at again? ...sadly, I won't be able to make it...the money will be saved for my 21st which is 8 days later
  5. finished chopping it today. I'm keeping the box and using it as my first attempt at real body work, and to teach me to weld properly. TNT is using the rear of the cab to extend his cab. the windshield is going in my xj the tan interior is going to beaterjeep if he wants it here's pics gettin ready to chop the frame on to the driver's side better pics of the front you can properly see how the frame rails are built here passenger side chopped off just finishing off the e-brake cable here's my new trailer! getting ready to load it...the forklift blew a power steering line so this was man-power and it's in TNT's garage now only took a month and a half of saying I'd get it done for me to finally get it done...thanks to tim for helping since my torch ran out of gas on sunday.
  6. it'd be for my dad's restore, then this drivetrain would go in his truck for a beater offroad truck. ...this one's already completely done it just needs a nice diesel under the hood ;) but, don't fret I'm still tryin to figure everything out on alot of stuff...my brain is dead
  7. we don't need the brady bunch...they don't do us much good.
  8. Thank you. maybe I should post some of the finished pics...all that's left is the seat belts now
  9. lol...I already have a nice black one coming here next sunday... but I could use another for a different proejct if it doesn't sell :D If you would quit buying all the swb MJ's within 100 miles I might be able to sell it... Now just find me a nice SWB builder in a few months for a V-8 swap as a toy. :D thought the 89 was your last...
  10. lol...I already have a nice black one coming here next sunday... but I could use another for a different proejct if it doesn't sell :D
  11. I like this alot, it's a shame you had to get rid of it. doing mine soon...
  12. here's my bro's "roll bar"/toolbox combo (holds 2 gerry cans, one military shovel, hi-lift, clevis and strap hook, and hi-lift mount, plus the toolbox area and spare tire) he needs to finish it off with diamondplate right now... but he also has snowboard/kayak racks up top too.. anyways, I know that takes more room than you'd want to, BUT you can do something like that without the gerry cans or toolbox, and have two support arms go to the wheel wells; it would function as a rollbar in worst-case, but still not take up as much room as a conventional rollbar
  13. thanks...I even picked up my lower longarms from Bullykatz today :D and borrowed his mounts so I can do some measurements. ANNND i found another MJ today that's as mint as mint can be. this one's a secret for a few days while I try and figure out the $$$ factor...if I can't get it you guys will get the pics and contact info. specs; 1988 4.0 auto 165k miles from california. 2wd longbed, absolutely zero rust, mint rear bumper and front bumper, factory fog and cargo light, brand new tires, newer exhaust, fresh paint (did magnet test, no bondo so I assume it's to fix sun fade or match parts if anything was swapped). so far I've found 3 comanches THIS MONTH alone, and gotten them sold to club members to boot (geonovast and bullykatz). how is it that these things are rare? they practically walk up to me and park themselves on my lawn!
  14. Some of you may remember my 88 4 cyl 4 speed 2wd comanche parts truck that I got for $75 with a full set of Canyon rims on it and BFG Mud Terrains. I didn't get a title and I needed the engine (which I was told was junk when I purchased it) for my jeep cherokee. the floors are gone, but it really was salveagable (mild rust over flares, zero rust on rockers). that's not in the cards as TNT is using the cab to extend his cab, and I'm making a trailer out of the box as I picked it up here's what I did today cut the radiator support all out to keep in case I do another 3.8 swap or 4.0 swap into an 84-86 cherokee or comanche (since it's a 4.0 radiator support with 4 cylinder radiator adapter) I didn't bother pulling the bumper off yet... cut out the front axle (control arms) and the frame rails, about this point TNT showed up to cut out his front fender wells so he can extend his took out the tranny, muffler, and brake and fuel lines (the exhaust is brand new and going to another local MJ guy as are the brake and fuel lines) You WON'T believe it, but every single crossmember bolt came out with no problems too all that's left is to chop the frame rail directly behind the cab tomorrow morning, then I can move the rear portion of it out of the way and TNT gets his cab. the windshield is uncracked too, so it will be going in my 1986 jeep cherokee. the doors are staying here as well, passenger side will be a half door since it's dented up, driver's side is pretty close to mint.
  15. corrected the comanche year, and placed the MJ next to the XJ considering they're the same base did you compile that? nice job
  16. not sure...my solution for the 2.8's lack of power was a heart transplant. that's most people's solution actually...
  17. :P you don't HAVE to change that out...I'd use it to run any offroad accessories that you're planning on adding (relay some fogs, whatever) just run it in tangem to your factory system. only thing you'd have to do would be relocate your coil since the bottle sits down there...and the coil can be moved easily
  18. 220 is still normal operating temp. if it gets to 230 and doesn't come on...there's a problem
  19. thanks a tip; use your comanche shaft and have it shortened. having a shaft shortened is MUCH cheaper than having one retubed (i.e. having a cherokee one lengthened)
  20. I have a couple coolant overflow bottles from a 95/96 era xj...and the mounting hardware and relay/fuse box to boot. shoot me a pm if interested...i'm cheap it's on the passenger side
  21. exactly all parts would be $500 MAX if you buy a similar year and transmission-equipped cherokee. the ONLY thing that would be different then, would be the rear driveshaft. and that will cost $90 or so to get shortened.
  22. :brows: :redX: :redX: :redX: ..... :redX: I'd like to  and :driving: that  hopefully you won't :thwak: me I do that to her and she does that to my jeep, fair trade. surely not at the same time
  23. damn....I JUST did the rear brakes on my cherokee this morning. I'd have taken pictures...I installed "new" ebrake cables too, and while the e-brake cables are not identical to the MJ, they're close enough. I gotta re-adjust them in the AM so I'll nab a couple pics then. -Pat
  24. not sure yet...gotta figure out a date that's good, and get the barn set up for wrenching. joe and I will be doing his swap inside the barn probably.
