3 engines 2.8 Chevy v6 2.5 AMC I4 2.1 Renault Diesel (turbo and non-turbo) I4 the 2.8 was most common for that year, unfortunately. it's a boat anchor. stout little motor but just no balls and terrible gas mileage. you'll HATE the motor. I did. my answer was to be a 91-94 camaro/firebird 3.4 v6 complete with the chevy FI system...quite the improvement and the same block so it's almost a bolt-in. BUT instead I went with a 1996 Camaro 3800 (by Buick) v6, which shares the same bellhousing (gm 60 degree bellhousing) and is a 90 degree v-motor. it involved some customizing of the bellhousing (starter is located opposite of the bellhousing), custom header panel, custom hood latch, custom motor mounts, headers, and down-pipe, and custom engine wiring. It's now a stand-alone engine, meaning I could power it's computer and ground the engine, and run it sans-truck wiring if I wanted. anyways, value of a 2.8 v6 comanche with a CLEAN body (I mean sans-rust) is still up there round 2000 max (1300-1500 generally) but honestly value depends on location. clean bodies in the rust belt have higher value vs. clean bodies in the south and west.

that's the plan. unless I find a car trailer and get the j-truck going by then. but that's pushing it. so driving looks like the best thing. it would probably be cheaper to drive it down. That J-truck would probably get like 5 miles to the gallon. yeah but it's breakage security... we'll see if I can use the duramax...i know I can but question is do I want to borrow that and assume responsibility.

Door speakers and manual windows

the "corkscrew thing" shouldn't be exposed much...it should have a tube around it -
should be approximately 3mph lower than what you're going...that's what mine is. edit: your speedometer should read 3mph LOWER than the speed at which you are traveling at that given point in time just to clarify what I meant

psh newly lifted. SOA D44 rear, 6.5" up front, and my longarm system...picking up the arms on sunday it looks like, then once TNT and I get to work on his truck I'll use the frame rails from his donor cab as a jig for the crossmember. Beaterjeep, you're coming with whether or not the 86/90 can handle it.

could ya change your post so it's not soooooo far =========>>>>>> ? and you're right. I'm limiting the factors now: just me and my truck, no need to borrow trailers or anything, so less things to affect the last-minute decisions tentative dates? Friday, June 20th to Sunday, June 22nd Friday, July 18th to Sunday, July 20th any others? being part time at all 3 jobs, I may try for a 4-day run here since I can ditch work for that long if I want.

starting this thread so we can get some tentative dates. I need until June to be ready, so I'm good after then. need to know at least 1 month prior. when's everyone else good for? I assume that Wade (89elminator) and I will be headed down at the same time; I'm camping and generally so does he. So, campgrounds would be the get-together place. Plan of attack is meet up friday mid-day or afternoon and shoot the $#!&, maybe run round a bit for anyone wishing to, and a meet-up on Saturday morning for any late-comers. bring your own beer, and if everyone pitches in (brings food), we'll be cookin out for the whole group Pitch up a couple weekends, as I say I'm good for after June (i.e. late june for the trip, or any time after that). git'r'done

DON'T think twice about them. if you like the look, it's easy enough to prevent that kind of rust by eliminating the steel-on-aluminum contact. cut off a couple inches from the "hanger" portion of it, and build your own steel hangers then use stainless. as I said, I'm not sayin DON'T install them. I'm saying take preventative measures if you want your truck to stick around for awhile.

what is it and do I need it for the conversion

I agree if this thing was wired up...I'm leaning towards it NOT being a 96. did you get the title? -
lmao. I wish I had that kind of time on my hands...

I'm Pat... that's literally the only picture of me and my truck. terrible, but there ya go

:P it's possible.... and I was wondering if I your welder will weld these perches well enough?...I don't have a welder that will weld it right now (dad's won't do it, and I can't use grandpa's) I'm contemplating figuring out the angle and doing this without putting it in the manche first...not much time to have the truck down and non-functional.
