  1. got mine with 66k original, it's now at 73k and is a 1986 my 89 was at 229k before I sold it to TNT
  2. :D and now the speedometer works! when can we expect the pics of your "new" MJ?
  3. that's mine. I recovered it to match my interior.
  4. NO "roll bar" will help if you truly roll over, unless it hasmounts below the bed that go to the frame. but, as stated, it's a bit less strong than others...it's a bolt-together one, so making it a bit narrower won't be a big deal anyways.
  5. it's free either way, so grab it. it can be modded easy. I'd be surprised if it won't fit well with no mods
  6. WORST POSSIBLE THING YOU CAN PUT ON YOUR COMANCHE. they'll ROT your rockers out in no time. I had a seemingly nice comanche and it @#$%ed the rockers up like you wouldn't believe. if you're putting them on, cut the aluminum off by about 4" on the top part, and replace it with metal hangers...that will reduce rust possibilities.
  7. no, an np207 uses a small speedo gear adapter (<1"), and the np231 AND all 2wd trannies after 1990 (if not earlier) roughly a 1.5" adapter, which is the one you're thinking of. the problem is that this np207 is from a 1986 and he has electronic speedo so we need the 1" speedo gear and connector...not sure if we can get it or if it will even work when we do.
  8. the ax5 uses a long input shaft on the t-case, so I need an adapter seal for it. already have the t-case that I HAVE to use because it's got the right speedometer system, np231 with a short input 21 spline. any ideas??? in the middle of the project, it's geonovast's DD and he needs it done monday mid-day.
  9. putting peugot ba10/5 21 spline np231 t-case onto an ax5 4wd with geonovast this weekend. the input shafts are different length. anyone know what the adapter seal is? it has to go on because the np207 is a mechanical/cable driven speedo (and we don't have the parts for it), and his truck is a 91 4 cylinder so it has an electronic speedo. any help here would be hot...we're doing this truck this weekend, already have the 2wd tranny out and new clutch in with external slave cylinder, so we really need to get this part a.s.a.p. or if anyone knows the parts for the t-case end of the speedo cable, and the speedo gears, that would help too cause I think I can adapt that with the electric end
  10. year matters as well (changed after 87) so what year?
  11. I agree, ujoint. pull the diff cover in case. but, the ujoint in my comanche went bad and did that exact same thing.

    oh deer?

Haha, I went throught two trannies and one coyote in my 82 Cutlass. I hit the little fella outside of Syracuse, NY at 1am. My buddy swore it was somebodys dog, so we wrapped it up in the shredded bra and laid him in the trunk. My uncle had to tell us that it was not a dog, naive Floridians  two trannies and a coyote? you're sick man...very sick...

    JK vs Tree!

and the crotchal region of your seat.
  15. Ya i hate to agree , iv always wanted to paint mine od green with the star and lettering and all that but more and more people are doing it but one day ill muster up and get it done . right now I'm leaning towards desert camo but we will see. the ride is looking schweet keep it up Yep! Only 8 cans so far, and it looks like a good, even coating. We'll see how it wears, touch ups will be easy, lol. The flat tan/desert look would be cool too I think. :USAflag: my next offroad MJ will be flat tan with either tan or black interior. it's a good choice I think.
  16. don't use that rustoleum on anything that sees wear, it will probably wear off fast. the stuff I used is in a spray can and it's dye. as for the dash, you remove all the little gadgets, glovebox door and trim below it, the trim piece between the window and the dash, the kneeboard, and then you have four of five 5/16" screws up front of the dash, and 2 15mm bolts on the bottom of it, plus another 2 (15mm???) on the steering column. then pull out the dash, slide it a bit, disconnect the wiring loom, and pull it gently out. TNT and I yanked the dash in his 95 cherokee in under a half hour once we stopped jabbering (we can be known to talk too much). when I did it in the 3800, by myself it was 30 min. to yank it (had all the tools layed out and knew which ones I needed first time through) and about 40 to reinstall, since I had to hook the wiring loom back up to the dash. so, all-in-all, not that hard.
  17. what kind of interior paint are you using? I buy from napa, their Tecnique brand vinyl semi-gloss black dye. here's my thread on it, it's worn great so far! (you need black bucket seats :brows: ) http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5097 I'd suggest that paint if you're not already using it, cause, as I say, it's holding up great. I painted the upper, lower, and rear trim, the main dash part (the rest I got in original black), and the door panels and armrests. great stuff.
  18. thanks for letting me stop by. you can do a stub OHC with just the lights and message center. I think I have one from an xj with sunroof somewhere...
  19. had it plugged in today and it was throwing 2 misfire codes, I grabbed the plug wires, and they came loose from the crimped ends easily, and they were pretty shabby looking. got my new wires, (source is 1992 buick lesabre with 3800 because of my manifolds) which are 8mm thick, and cleared the codes. it runs better. also adjusted the steering wheel position.
  20. So is that rear axle attached to your next project? I figured the way you find good deals all the time, you bought another Heep for next to nothing to get the axle. j/k :D I'll say it again as well, yours is looking good. ironically, I just found geonovast his 91 HO harness complete with 5 speed (but 2wd) comanche.... and I've got myself a 90 eliminator headed this way in a month or so...in about the same shape as 89eliminator's was when he got it, but factory buckets and 4wd. as for the axle, no, it's a stand-alone axle. sorry
  21. this is made simple by getting the right tach (from an identical engine-equipped xj or mj) from what I've been able to tell, on the adjuster left is less pulses and for 4 cylinder, right is for 8 cylinder, center is for 6 cylinder.
  22. me too but I hate the single 4.0 badge. nothing personal
  23. I went back and wanted to taunt you all with some better pics ....also it shows the true condition of the body. the passenger side rocker panel and floor driver's side... from the tailgate you can see it's a 72 with drop pins. (yeah, i know, you really can't see it...but just imagine...) camper shell top driver's side front fender damage this'll be the donor flare for the rear left and provided this isn't all bondo, I may use some for the rear right quarter repairs it won't be coming home for a few months, I don't have a spot to fix it right now with all my other comanche projects and cherokee (yea yea, halfsize i know), but soon as I do this comes home for a t-case re-install, some rust prevention, some minor body repair, and then it will be driven the way it is for a while (if i drive it at all)
  24. I'm wondering if these injectors will work with my camaro motor. I think they should...can't see why not.
  25. :D I've already designed the longarm crossmember for it. and I think I've got the springs already. oh, and I'm buying the rear axle next week now just gotta get a nice front axle (that's not bent or whatever hell is wrong w/ my axle) and regear it to match
