Project "Eliminator"
JeepcoMJ replied to 89eliminator's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Did you consider putting bars between the tops above windshield to keep trees out of the roof? You took a real conservative approach. Looks and will function great -

Clueless. There are 50 of them, and a federal entity in charge of them that is worse than all. Combined

Transmission Swap Issues??? Cps??????
JeepcoMJ replied to Katzer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes, but his year (85) trans cannot use the h.o. Bearing retainer/throwout guide as it is incapable of retaining the front cross shaft bearing. This will allow movement of the cross shaft and destruction of the transmission. Just printing out why your bearing retainer will not help him. The bell and stuff bolts up, but why spend the time or money when he can convert his internal slave bell to external slave with a couple studs, a handful of bolts, a hammer, and a punch? -
Transmission Swap Issues??? Cps??????

Driver, bearing plates are different between h.o. years and older...the bearings are bigger on the newer ax5. Your plate would leave slack in his trans and grenade it. -
Transmission Swap Issues??? Cps??????
JeepcoMJ replied to Katzer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The 86 will use the external slave parts that he already has on his 85 bell. Cheaper. Oh. Fun fact. Your original bell should be set up to accept the 85 parts already. Just swap them all over. Pivot ball for throwout plate, studs for slave, done deal. -

check ignition switch first. Easiest to do, likely cause

Either shift lock cable issues for auto, or lockout for manual. Mechanism is in the column. Also, partially fried ignition switches can do that...two bolts to remove from the top side of the column near the firewall. Pull it off first and see if the lock moves smoothly. If it does, that is your issue.

That would be the way to do it

Remember, there are more KJ ones available than TJ ones, and they are the right bolt pattern

I don't mind them. But none around here can kill me, and I certainly don't want one as a pet.

*since*, not *sense*. And that is a worthless mount. Maybe it's constructed well, maybe it's not. but everyone I know who has had a Baja style mount (including me) has hated them after awhile. It would take an hour for a mediocre welder to make. But it just takes too much space.

PM me your name and number, and any questions you may have. I will hand them to Opsled (Phil) who is my father. He can walk you through. Very nice and intelligent guy, knows these like a fat kid knows cupcakes. Haven't been following....I miss ours so I'm neglecting to follow much on purpose. But I don't want to see you up the creek without a paddle.

Applause Hornbrod. Can't stand when people post flat out incorrect info, so thanks for correcting. Also, you can NOT associate 4.0 with 2.5 cooling. The 87 and up 2.5 used an adapter mount to put a 2.5 radiator onto a 4.0 core support, but nothing other than the front crossmember and header panel support are even close to the same.

We have no HOA. just a 13 acre farm that is slowly but surely getting "city" moved around it. Our neighbors out back all have million or more dollar homes. there are 6 of them. One is just a good 'ol boy who owns two restaurants. He's no bother. One is an elderly heart surgeon who is hardly ever home. He will back a troublemaker, but doesn't really care. One owns a body shop. He will always take the path of least resistance. One family was just a down to earth family who worked hard for their money...they want nothing to do with anyone else's problems. One family's wife's dad owns a lawnmower company (building many many machines, of which some of you surely know. I will leave unnamed for my purposes). She has unlimited access to his money, the largest lawn compared to the others...and it is mowed 3 times a week. She is trouble, but only in the air up in the nose sort of way (snooty). The worst one is a doctor. He MUST get his way. A handful of years ago, tax reassessments happened. They actually optioned us to rezone and modify our property lines, subdivide, etc. We had those allowances in our deed as well. Oh, btw, the realtor who sold us our property also sold all the neighbors theirs. He also sold the property across the street on the front side of the property...it now shows us the back side of a WalMart. Anyways, front half is now business. Long and short of it, the doctor got all but the restaurant owner on the bandwagon to chance that...they don't want any more traffic on their road (they all live behind us on a dead end off-shoot), and don't want houses across the street. Their deeds all say we can't do any of what the new assessments say we can, and contradict our deed...while contradicting each and every other deed. They got the township to supersede the county assessments (not possible according to state statutes...no smaller branch may override a larger branch of government at the state and county level). We sued, won. What put it over the top was very, very simple. We made the statement that, as we are zoned agricultural, we are perfectly within our rights to own a pig farm. Some people want to have everything be butterflies and rainbows...or at least what amounts to that in their eyes. Sometimes, though, you just need to take the gloves off.

Do you have a dog? I would wrap some dog poop in hush at letter and put it on their door step. Really, though, I bet that the person being a fool probably has major stuff wrong with his house.

Is the antenna grounding or shorted? You did have it out.

4cyl ac is under with alternator on top

That you can't expect them to have them or not. It seems to be a variable thing.

As that is the case, it would be advisable to amend the statement that all 87s "shouldn't" have one. Blanket statements can be confusing to a novice.
