Not Another One!!?? '88 Eliminator
shelbyluvv replied to JeepsOLot's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Could you take some pictures of the upper stripes with a tape measure showing the size of them? I'm trying to get Spencer to repop at least the upper stripes. The lower dot matrix is a no go so far. -
I have a burgundy dash and need a black one. Where are you located?

I know porno red won by a very slight margin of victory and should be the color I'm using. Well after getting screwed around by a few different people parting out trucks with red interiors I gave up. Here are the seats I will be using in Betty.

Project "Black Betty"

One more piece of the puzzle found and awaiting installation. -
There's a whole thread on NAXJA by these guys about the D30 diff.

I just put a piece of fuel line on my catch to keep the tube doors tight and rattle free. I like your style though. You do great work.

Stranded, need help, my MJ is a glutton
shelbyluvv replied to rustybottoms88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sounds like a classic CPS death to me Sometimes you can unplug the connector, spit in the connection and then plug it back in to get them to run. Don't ask me why it works but for some reason it does. If it fires drive directly to the house and buy a new CPS. -
You kinda talk like Lurch too Scott, miss ya brother!

Being the one and only Thunderchief ever built. It was a concept vehicle built by Jeep. It is currently sitting in a warehouse owned by Chrysler in Michigan.

I had a set of SRAs on my Cummins and they only lasted 12k. They were completely bald. They are the worst tire I have ever used. They were so bad and Goodyears customer service was worse. They blamed everything but their crappy product. I have since sworn against all things Goodyear and will never use any of their products again.

I'd buy a 2.5 equipped truck over a 2.8 all day every day. The 2.5 is a great little motor. I've owned a few of them, a few 4.0s and one 2.8.

It sucks! My trucks were done by the PO and you can't see the tail lights at all during the day. Buy some Goof Off spray and remove it while you still can!

DirtBound's 86 to 98 conversion
shelbyluvv replied to DirtBound's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
So much work for a fuel tank. A TJ tank would fit there like it was made for it. Either way welcome aboard Max. Looking forward to seeing the progress. BTW... we MJ owners need hitches, rear bumpers and sliders. -
Look for tips on replacing lockrite springs and pins. You basically have to do the same thing to remove one. I'm guessing the other 8.25 has an Aussie in it.

Aux Lights to come on with brights help
shelbyluvv replied to Jacob Ochs's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Don't use Scotchloks. They hold moisture and you will be chasing electrical issues before long. Do it right the first time. Are these roll bar lights you are hooking up? You should not run more than two lights off of one relay and switch. You are begging for a fire. -
The D35 is crap. I snapped a shaft pulling away from a corner on wet pavement. It has a bad reputation for good reason. Trying to convince someone that they should not upgrade to a 8.25, D44 or 8.8 is foolish. I would not take a D35 if it was given to me. I would wait to find a better axle.

97+ grille swap on an 86
shelbyluvv replied to Jags1966's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Fenders, bumper and header panel. You will have to trim the headlight buckets a bit and drill a hole for the adjusters to punch through the radiator support. Check my Black Betty build or the DIY section for a write up.- 4 replies

Ben I would offer up some money for fuel so you can make the trade. That truck should be restored not modified. -

Pics of this front D35. I'm willing to bet it is a D30. -
Diesel MJ / XJ Registry - Post up yours or one you have found!
shelbyluvv replied to JENSSEN's topic in The Pub
Information from ChryCo from 88 and below is pretty much nonexistent. Where 89 and newer owners can send an email with their VIN and get build dates and build sheet info, owners of the older trucks are SOL. There was a flood that took out pretty much all the info in the achieves. -

The 249 is a pile. The vicious coupler goes out all the time and they cost more than a transfer case to replace. The 242 is a good transfer and will work fine. Good luck finding a D35 for the front. Why would you want to do this to such a rare truck? Get a different truck to rice out. -
oil pump bad or not?
shelbyluvv replied to tylergrant2011's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Try the Vaseline and see if it will build pressure. A cheap oil filter will allow the oil to drain into the pan. Once the oil pump loses prime it will very rarely re-prime itself without being packed with Vaseline. Goggle it if you think I'm screwing with you.
