Need to post it on a different host! Sorry about that.

Saw this on the Freeway in mid May: Zoom in on the license plate and tell me what it reads!

Another Pantera this evening - this one was Blue and parked on a city street in Downtown El Cajon. Every Wednesday night, they do a Cruise Night from May to October. Unfortunately did not have time to stop for pictures. About 10 days ago I did get a good picture of an early 60's Corvette just like on Route 66! Will post picture later.

What engine and what equipment are on your truck? My 91 long bed with a 4.0, automatic, A/C etc hits the scale at about 3250 lbs. A 4 cylinder with no A/C would be less.

tires, gears and gas mileage question
johnj92131 replied to mikekaz1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
1991 2 wheel drive AW4 3.55 axle 4.0 225/75 x 15 tires 15/17 mpg around town. 19-23 highway - depends on speed. -
Just buy the darn thing! Get it home and you will find it easy to tune. Easy to get back into running shape. Won't cost you much (except time) to clean it up on one weekend. It has a great future with you! At worst, you should be able to list it on Ebay and make some money on it. Take some great pictures, put together a good auction show and it would be a money maker. Still, a neat back up car to have. Hope you get it and keep it.

Hmmmm... my Comanche with a half a tank of fuel and two 160lb people weighs 4620. :hmm: My 91 long bed with the SnugTop and over 500 lbs of fat people weight = 3840 lbs after a dump run. Not sure how much fuel on board any more. You are 1000 pounds heavier than a fully factory optioned long bed???

Last Saturday I took an 800 mile drive in my Comanche. But I have owned it for 8 or 9 years and know the maintenance is up to date. Got 18.8 mpg one way and just over 20 mpg back home. So check the brakes, the cooling system, check the tires. All these things have been suggested in previous posts. Take your AAA card and your cell phone with extra batteries. Then, just have fun!

"Al Unser" Street Comanche - San Diego
johnj92131 replied to HOrnbrod's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
This truck has been for sale with exactly the same ad for at least 2 years. It shows up on the local Craigslist every few months. Think the kid who purchased MJremi's real Street Comanche actually looked at it last year(?) -
Don't know what the process is for the tow company in N.Y. But in Calif. the tow company will auction the truck off for unpaid fees. At the acution may be your best chance to buy the truck back for a reasonable price. I don't know of any tow truck company that will listen to people's sob stories. Everybody they meet has a bad luck story. The company has the car owner by the short hairs and they want their money. Just business with them. Plain and simple. As for taking your friend to court - well that takes time, money and effort on your part. You had a $500 truck, you got some $$ from your friend, All you will gain is $500 less what he paid you. So, less than $400 - IF you can collect? Me - I have no time for that. Get something of value from your friend? Maybe, but does he have something of value? Not likely.

No matter what you decide to do - there is a life lesson to be learned: No good deed goes unpunished. Long time ago, when I was 22 - wife and I loaned our old 1961 Ford Falcon to a friend. Friend totaled the car, no offer to pay for it, just "Sorry". He simply did not have any money. We just moved on and were a little more careful about loaning our cars. Still did it, but we were more aware of the risks. About 5 years ago, I loaned the Comanche to a friend who lived in Tijuana. Truck was stolen from his house. Got it back, he saw to it the truck got fixed. I still had to buy new wheels and tires. He is still my friend today.

I always loved the Big Healy - not the fastest car around, but they did not break down. Very much a collectors item today.

Pantera1973, Yes, the one I saw Saturday was a twin of you car. Your car looks GREAT! Nice to see one in the hands of a Comanche fan!

Yes traffic jams are where we all end up! Spotted 2 Maseratis this year. Never been impressed with them. You would LOVE the Corvette National Museum - Spent half a day there last September. I was drooling at the 63-67 Sting Ray. Always has been my favorite Corvette. You are really close to Bowling Green, take a weekend trip and see some fantastic Corvette's

Growing up and living here in Southern California all my life, we see a whole lot of "exotic" cars driving on the streets and freeways that are not seen much in most of the country. So we get a bit jaded about cars on the road. Cars like Tesla, Ferrari, Rolls, Bentley, Lotus, etc. and the like are not all that unusual. I have likely spotted more than half a dozen Ferrari's, 3 or 4 different Lotus cars, a couple each Rolls and Bentey's. All since the start of this year. Just yesterday, I spotted a Morgan on I-5 and another Italian body exotic car I have not seen in a good 10 years. Actually would up chasing the car for a good 20 miles at speeds over 85 mph. The car? De Tomaso Pantera. Bright Red, just like the one in this link: https://www.google.com/search?q=de+tomaso+pantera&espv=2&biw=1517&bih=741&tbm=isch&imgil=VeRMBAcxlz-I7M%253A%253BD9oFpdmDaVG7rM%253Bhttps%25253A%25252F%25252Fen.wikipedia.org%25252Fwiki%25252FDe_Tomaso_Pantera&source=iu&pf=m&fir=VeRMBAcxlz-I7M%253A%252CD9oFpdmDaVG7rM%252C_&usg=__q8C5V2rQSWm50ObqLiRnujHn_AI%3D&dpr=0.9&ved=0ahUKEwjzooO5s93MAhUU4GMKHdwkAccQyjcIOg&ei=wxw5V7O1CZTAjwPcyYS4DA#imgrc=X9hjnmyJdP4lMM%3A There are also a number of really nice Concours d'Elegance around Southern California that we get to see every once in a while. The closest one to home is this one: http://www.lajollaconcours.com/ Come Father's Day, there will be an Exotic Car Show on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. 3 block will be closed off for the show. We are planning on going up for the day. I will post a link, if anyone is interested.

WOW! That looks like a great deal! Interior look really good! No, you are not an idiot. But you may soon be single again! Hey, lots and lots of ladies out there. Not that may good Jeeps. Darn, I sure am brave when I know she is not looking!. She is calling me to do the dishes - got to go now.

1968 Chevrolet Corvair 4 speed 140 hp engine. First new car I purchased was a 69 Corvair.

He is doing you a favor!. No way you need the project. The thing is a rusted out hulk. The interior is trash. The engine has a bad knock. The tires are flat spotted and rotten. What more do you need to know? Oh - and he wants U.S. dollars - not those little Canadian dollars. Lastly, you parents don't want you storing junk cars at their house. How is that for help? And at True Story of what I did today: Yes, and Today - I spent $1500 buying an old car 350 miles from home and have not told my better half yet. I don't quite know where I am going to store it when I get it home. And I don't know what kind of story I am going to tell her when I go back to pick the car up! So don't be a dummy like me. You will get in all kinds of trouble at home - if not today, next week and next month.! Really, you don't need another old car.

Yet another towing question....
johnj92131 replied to lil_loco's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Front hitch is nice to have, I use mine every so often. But not as much as I thought I would. Still, very much worth having. -
Comanche broke down-help!
johnj92131 replied to Axeminister's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ignition switch? It was years ago that I had to replace the ignitions switch on the Comanche - no longer remember why it had to be done. But do your lights dim when you try to start the car? -
Yet another towing question....
johnj92131 replied to lil_loco's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Mikekaz1- The hitch in the J.C.Whitney link is a FRONT hitch. Not a rear hitch. That is why the mounting looks strange. -
Welcome! What part of the country is home for you? One of our members (Bonkers) posts a list of Comanche trucks for sale on Craigslist here: http://comancheclub.com/topic/50115-the-good-bad-and-rusty-0409-cl-list/ Will give you some ideas of what is out there. Again, Welcome to the group!

The Good, Bad, and Rusty - 04/09 CL List
johnj92131 replied to Bonkers's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Disagree - this is the right place for Craigslist links. And the prices in these posts are NOT selling prices. They are ASKING prices. Some of these trucks have been offered for years at outlandish Asking prices with no buyers in sight. And a big THANK YOU to Bonkers for posting all these links. -
Yet another towing question....
johnj92131 replied to lil_loco's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have towed close to 3000 lbs with my truck from sea level over the local mountains (4200 ft max) to the Imperial Valley (below sea level) and back home to San Diego. My truck has the stock 3.55, stock size tires, AW4 transmission, Drawtite hitch and full MetricTon/Big Ton factory package. The mountains do require downshifting and they slow the truck down. Other than that - it works. Just not fast. And I watch my speed on the down hill runs. Try to keep to 60 or less. Speed limit with a trailer is 55 mph or 90Kph for you Canadians. Air shocks or air bags may be something you want to try. I say, give your current set up a test drive and be prepared to make some changes (mostly) in how YOU drive. Lastly, Just buy your hitch from Krusty - his workmanship is Top Notch. -
Comanche Emblems Location

Great picture with dimensions! Now if you were able to do the same picture for the other badges, I would suggest it would be FANTASTIC in a DIY thread for future reference! It would inspire, even me, to put my badges back on the truck!
