If you want to move the 2nd tank discussion, here is an old thread I started in 2008 with lots of still valid information. Why not bring it back to life? http://comancheclub.com/topic/12482-second-gas-tank-in-an-mj/?hl=gallon+tank&do=findComment&comment=122631

Don't know where you are located. But I have manage to find several good ones over the years in pick a part yards. Also manage to locate a couple of XJ Country door panels from specialty Jeep salvage yards. Not cheap that way. Ebay is another source of the door panels, but tends to be VERY expensive. One tip I did find for a shipping box is a "picture" or "portrait" box. They are available at arts and craft supply stores such as Michaels. Good luck with your search.

That is easier to do on the short bed than the long bed. I have a long bed and the big X brace is an issue. A 19 gallon tank from a 90's Ford F150 could work, it is just over 8 inches thick. The 25 gallon and 32 gallon tanks out of a 90's Suburban may also work, just that they are a bit thicker and on the long bed, it may hang down quite far. As for how to fill the tanks? Thought of just running a long pipe from the existing filler neck back to the rear tank. That would allow both tanks to be filled at the same time. Old Toyota Land Cruisers used a variation of this. But, like most modifications to my Comanche, it has never been a high priority for me simply because I do not drive the truck that much. These last 6 or 8 weeks may be the first time I have had to use the truck as my daily driver since I got the truck in 2007. And refilling the gas tank at the 300-350 mile mark is not a problem.

Do you have any pictures you could post? Love to see it. Thought about a second tank for years. But was looking behind the axle where the spare is.. The bed on the drivers side has a hump to clear the fuel tank filler. What did you do on the passenger side to clear the filler pipe?

Please tell me more about the 2nd tank you added to the truck. What tank and where did you add it.

If Toyota is still using Dana as the supplier for the frames, I am sure they started coating the inside of the frame. Toyota is a manufacturer that learns from their mistakes. I haven't driven the new Tacoma yet, but I can say the Colorado is a pleasure to drive with a nicely laid out interior. Had one for a few months as a company truck before I left the job. The Colorado was world's better than the Ranger I previously had. Was the Colorado you had for work a 4 cylinder Work Truck with just 2 doors? Or the 4 door version of the Work Truck?

I did not see an old auction for this truck, BUT $5600 for a junk engine truck core project is more than I am willing to bid. Current bid is $2025. Seller has not responded to my questions, not a good sign. Saw 2 MJ diesels over the summer. The one in BC sold again, the other one was over priced and is still for sale. Might be making an offer on that one in another month or so. An MJ diesel project has been in the back of my mind for a long time.

I have a bid in on it. So far, 6 different bidders. Top bid at the moment is $1025. Also sent seller a couple of questions. So far no answers. Pictures are a little short, doesn't show the metric ton rear suspension. Also, anyone know what the stock final drive ration was with the diesel? 4.10 or 4.56? Good point about that black stripe along the bottom.

Every thing I have read also claims the Colorado is a great truck. BUT, the Toyota will still sell for more money when it is time to sell. AND you will very likely have spent less money to maintain the Toyota then the Chevy Colorado. Toyota has earned a rock solid reputation. Just see what Consumer Reports says about the 2005 (or any other year) Tacoma vs the same year Colorado. Chevy has a long way to go before the come close to matching the reputation of the Toyota Tacoma.

Removable PreRunner tire carrier idea

How is visibility with the rear view mirror? -
Insulation for the floor? Just use factory carpet under padding. Very effective and not expensive.

3.55 ratio with manual trans.
johnj92131 replied to 90MJ406's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't mean to jack, but I'm going from a 96 8.25 with 4.10's and just picked up another 8.25 that was 'shaved' for a wrangler I think, but has 3.55's . And came with an extra track-lok carrier and 3.73's. I don't know if I should go with the 3.55's or 3.73's with my little 4cyl. My Comanche Pioneer has the 2.5 and 'miser' edition with 3.31's. I think I'll try the 3.55's and see what mileage I get. (the Comanche get's upwards of 25+) 90Mj, I think you would like the 3.55's with a 6cyl. E So right now you are running a 4 cylinder with 3.31 rear end and I "assume" stock 225/75 x 15 tires? Might be quicker and easier for you to try a set of lower profile tires. Like 215/70 or 225/60 x 15 rather than change the rear axel ratio. -
camper shell is going to be much easier to find. Shipping for either one will not be cheap.

My very first question: Do you have a problem or issue with the Renix system on your 89 Comanche right now? Suspect you do not have a problem right now. Rather from your question, you fear running the Renix system on a stroker motor. My suggestion would be to do research at JeepStrokers.com and the old Yahoo jeepstrokers group. See if you can find any issues with strokers and the Renix system.

Yes, but it is NOT cheap.

Amazon is a good place to buy stuff. I ordered a special hose clamp tool for my VW on a Saturday, got it delivered the next day (Sunday) from Las Vegas - 340 miles away. We ordered some pants for my trip to Costa Rica, one of them was the wrong size - no problem with the return and getting the right size. Also were about $15 cheaper than same brand at REI locally. I have also pick up a few auto parts and tools with no problems. Amazon is very much like what Sears used to be a long time ago. Sears used to have a huge catalog with just about anything you could want/need for mail order or delivery to a local store.

Making it to the second interview is GOOD. Working 6 days and 70+ hours means no time to waste your money on toys! Not all bad, especially after being out of work for a good while.

Roof line is from a Cherokee, not a Comanche. The micro bed tells me the starting point was a Cherokee and the micro bed was grafted on to the Cherokee. So no cuts in the floor pan that Doc would be interested in for his project. But what do I know.

Used to be a sticky on the proper way to measure ride height. Not sure where it went now. Perhaps someone else knows where it went? Thinking it was a DIY sticky for the longest time.

Doesn't sound like the fellow who did your pump is that familiar with the pump. You might want to talk to Giles at PerformancDiesel.in Toronto, he has a great reputation with the old non computer controlled injection pumps used in the VW and has been in business for many years.
