Are you talking about a real roll cage or just the light bar that goes in the bed?
-
:D Yeah...but...let the first hurricane brew up anywhere near us (we're in season now) and it will jump by .50 or a 1.00 a gallon just because of what "could" happen  .

School me on spider gears
BLHTAZ replied to watchamakalit's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If the spiders are welded together...then yes, it will be a real PITA to change them. If they are welded in the fashion that I am familiar with they will not be hard to change at all. The we have done it is to weld on a couple beads in the tooth valleys on each side of the contact point on one gear on each side so the gears can not turn, but still have a very snall amount of play in them and are easily changeable in the future if needed ;) . Picutres would definitely be helpful here. If the carriers need to be changed...you are looking at quite a bit of additional expense as that is NOT a do-it-yourself job and the folks that know how to do it charge a fair amount for it unless you know someone to help you out. -
Interesting video. Reading some of the conversation below it is quite a hoot too ;)

School me on spider gears

If they only welded the spiders...you could get away with just replacing the spiders. Properly welded spiders do not harm the carrier at all...it's only a matter of a couple properly placed beads on the spider gears themselves. -
YES...!!! ;)

How to remove front bumper?
BLHTAZ replied to mknherhappy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That is the way you see it in the pic...but, when talking about a vehicle, the left side is the Driver side and the right is the Passenger side ;) . -

The vacuum reservoir is on the right side...the horn is on the left...at least that's how it was on my truck. BTW...remember... Right side = passenger Left side = driver -
Chrysler vehicles are well known for blower motor resistors going bad. I sell a lot of them for all models for Chrysler, Jeep & Dodge every day. Most of the time the regulators fails just because it is bad, but about 30% of the time it fails because the motor is going bad and the resistence is too high so if you resistor goes again in a couple months...replace it and the motor ;) . Window regulators are the other big mover with very regular failures...especially on minivans & Grand Cherokees.

 Congrats to both of you :D You think life changed getting married...just wait and see what is coming now ;) .

We did work out a deal...although not 100% to my liking, but being that it had been only slightly over 6 months since painted, I couldn't fight too much. I would have legal ground if I wanted to push it as I have a member of my Florida forums that is a lawyer and he has advised me on it, but it's just not worth the hassle and expense.

I should have qualified that as "my opinion", but I have never met a leaf sprung vehicle that needed a sway ber as far as I was concerned. Our YJ has no sway bar and no track bars front or rear and my wife drives it nearly every day with SOA and 35" tires ;) .
-
Sway bars are for coil springs. The MJ leaf spring rear has no need for such a thing as they are farily stiff to begin with.
-
We have been so close, but still have not flopped or rolled our YJ. Glad you and the Jeep are OK

That's what I was wondering about. I was thinking that it may actually sit level if they are swapped.

:laughin: Eagle & I were posting at the same time with the same idea...

Carmine...you know how to fix it. Get rid of that CRusty's Crap and replace it with RE springs or some of the new ones from Motion Offroad ;) . Not intended to be a total smartass reply, but kind of... :brows: I know it would be a bit of a PITA, but just to be sure it's the spring you could swap sides and see if it leaves the right side low.

I just updated my previous post with the pricing in it. Shipping is a bit higher than I expected and appears that it will be close to $9 to most areas of the continental US.

Truck Broken Into Last Night Now Will Not Start
BLHTAZ replied to jjcomanche44's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yeah...sorry to hear of the misfortune. I agree...somehow they did damage to the starter is what it sounds like. -
I have used parts store reman stuff too without issue. I did not buy the "cheapest" version (as most offer 2 or 3 different price levels), but opted for the higher priced ones figuring that as usual...you get what you pay for. Our YJ has been running on a set of loaded calipers from Bumper-to-Bumper for almost 2 years now.
-
Fixed it... ;) We do a fair amount of trail riding/rock crawling in our YJ and will definitely carry it in there for that. The big thing that sparked our interest in getting one is the issue with the flat tire on our Dodge Ram coming home from the last Jeep event. We were lucky to have been close to a gas station with air, but it could have easily been a real tough situation. I did have a spare, but when I put it on, it was nearly flat too, but had just enough to move us a half mile to the station to fill it up. We were going to do OBA, but decided that this is a much better alternative as we can take it along in any of our 3 vehicles as needed. Thanks for all the input. Please feel free to offer more if you have it.
