  1. no, it depends on the engine/trans combo. for example, while 4.0l's with the auto and manual both have an np231, some have 21 spline input on the t-case and some have 23 spline input. autos (AW4) are 21 spline output, at least up through 1990. i'm not sure when, but at some point the aw4 went to 23 spline output. however, the ax-15 manual trans has 23 spline output all of the time, while the ba/10 manual has a 21 spline output. as far as i know, they all had the np231 with a 4.0l, but they might have had some np242's as well, although i haven't heard of any personally. i don't know what all came behind the 2.5 and 2.8l engines, much less the few diesels out there.
  2. jcr makes good stuff, i had their xj sliders on my first cherokee. if my truck wasn't a piece i'd do it. hmm...i'll be sending you a message on gl4x4 i think.
  3. even with the double wide or 'modular' models, it still has to be the right situation to appreciate. florida has demand for that partially due to retires who tend to be more likely to have a mobile home, as well as vacation homes which people don't want to sink as much money into.
  4. based off the experience of several people i know who have or do live in them, probably not. aside from which, the value of a trailer never goes up, only the land it sits on. that said, if you can get one where the trailer has already lost pretty much all its value and your just paying for the land and shop, it might not be so bad.
  5. so no PM's for the time?
  6. I do take it seriously, which is why I vote in hope of achieving what I believe is best. I do not believe either candidate has integrity, and therefore cannot vote for either.
  7. aside from the parts pete mentioned, check out the steering components. does it have parts to correct the steering geometry (track bar, for example)? maybe a heavier duty tie rod? also depends on how much lift it has and how worn it is, as well as brand (although that may be hard to figure out).
  8. yes, this is a great time to invest if you have the money to do so. too bad i've got a few hundred a month going out for student loans. the thing about investments is they go up and down, don't put what you can't afford to lose in and plan on leaving it alone for 5 years at least, avoid single stocks in favor of long track record growth stock mutual funds. it's not like mcdonalds, walmart, gm, att, and all the other major corporations are going to be worth nothing anytime soon. things will look better after november 4th, whatever way that turns out.
  9. i'm not really worried, to be honest. even with all the 'crisis' on the news, we are still in about the same place as far as investments as we were 10 years ago. mostly, people will be fine and this 'crisis won't make a big difference one way or another. government will keep making bad choices, and we'll live. it's not like we're in africa where poor means you're dying.
  10. convertible? hope they knew what they were doing. if so, :USAflag:
  11. i'm not saying not to do any thing, but 700 billion is not the answer and there are many other options, like in the link i gave earlier. here's the basis of one option:
  12. I've got to say, I both agree with you and disagree with you. You're absolutely right about finger pointing. However, if you're talking about the 'bail-out' bill that was defeated yesterday, that was a non-partisan vote. 40% of democrats voted against it, and 67% of republicans voted against it. As far as what we as U.S. citizens can do about it, those results show what we can do about it. When the bill was introduced and up until yesterday, it looked like it would pass. It's because 100's of thousands of Americans (including myself) wrote, emailed, and/or called our representatives and told them we do not want another $700,000,000,000 in national debt because of what boils down to an accounting issue because of faulty federal regulations. There are other options than the kind of insane blank checks that don't really solve the root problem in the first place. This issue could be fixed with almost no additional national debt and really fix things while helping people other than Wall Street and corporate executives. I could go more into that, but you'd be better off reading it from someone more qualified than me: http://www.daveramsey.com/etc/fed_bailout/index.html This guy is a christian, so take or leave the prayer part as you want, but what he has to say about money is better than 99% of politicians (which doesn't really take much). That does give some answers as what you can do. Trust me, I understand where you are. I'm trying to finish my degree while working full-time and providing for my wife, 1-week old son, and myself. It's not easy, but there's better options out there than that bill. Besides, the economy isn't going to collapse because of this. We're in an election year, and news people get better ratings when there's bad news than when there is good news. Even with all that's going on, our economy is still growing, more jobs are being created than lost, and the basics we need to survive are pretty much available. Look back over the past 100 years, and there have been plenty of cycles of both good and bad. We'll get past this, we'll be ok. As FDR said, "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself." :USAflag:
  13. reminds me of last friday when the wife and i were in the nissan on the way home, and we're going down a road with 2 lanes going my direction, i'm in the right. the left one ends in a turn lane, and this guy in an explorer tries to pass on the left, starts honking at me, then gets in behind me since his lane ends. i'm like 'ok, get over it'...except he follows me around a right turn onto another street...close. so i keep watching him, and make a quick left turn that i hardly got through the light and he outright ran. this went on through another 2 right lanes, bring right back to were he started following me...by this point, i don't care what he wants, i darted down another couple side streets and lost him. crazy @$$ holes abound out there in the streets.
  14. messy? that looks pretty clean to me... nice start
  15. what jeep? . looks like a ranger
  16. i'll guess july 2nd, in honor of closing on our house :D
  17. i've seen that wrecked one on here before, but i don't think it was from someone on here.
  18. i called him, he'd take $1000 for it and everything he has. he also does have receipts from doing the stroker project.
  19. what would you pay for it? he did say OBO on that price.
  20. assuming 600lbs and shipping to 95066 zip code, freight would be about $550 if you have a loading dock or forklift to unload with, or $640 if you need the delivery truck to have a lift gate. that's according to freightcenter.com using daylight transport or roadway.
  21. what zip code? anyone know how much that engine would weigh? if you pay the price for the entire truck and shipping, i would do it as long as the timeline works with my upcoming move across town. i have access to pallets for free, too.
  22. well, gm does now have a hybrid tahoe with 21 mpg which is about 8 mpg more than regular. they also are developing a hydrogen car for release in 2013, and they have a deal with shell oil for selling hydrogen for them. it will take some time, but the tech is coming. as for the alt producing enough hydrogen to supplement, it is possible. note i did say he used a carb not fuel injection, which bypasses the o2 sensor, computer correction issue. without re-programing the computer, doing something like this on a fuel injected vehicle would probably have very little benefit, if any at all.
  23. the mythbusters episode tests one particular internet kit. however, that doesn't disprove the theory of using hydrogen to produce a more efficient combustion of fuel. running strictly off of hydrogen, while possible and being developed for release in 2013 by GM, would not work with this kind of device. it also is not perpetual motion because it still requires fuel to be added and spent, both gas and the HHO.
  24. i don't know that i would trust that site, but the concept does work. there's a guy around my area who gets 33 mpg with his v8-powered, carb'ed motor home between a combination of this concept (except using a separate high output alternator) and a home brewed multiple displacement system that works effectively as a 4 cylinder on grades no more than 15% while cruising. done properly, it's not harmful to the engine, either. i should note this guy uses specifically distilled water.
