I have never seen a bench seat like that! All the ones I've seen are torn or crushed or dirty, or all three.
-
They're the same for the static (buckle) end between Renix era XJs and MJs. I pulled the static ends from an XJ at P&P because the buckles on the ones in my MJ were trashed. Bolts in the flor were the same.

Glad I read through this thread. My 88 has an idle that varies slightly even when warmed up. Now if In can just find the IAT I'll clean that sucker!

Mj Light Bulb List & LED Replacements
Keyav8r replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Some Jeep engineer probably lost his job over that. He used 2057s and 194s in three places each instead of a separate bulb for every application. -
Egad! $15 for a seat belt bolt! Those CyberJeep guys must be planning on retiring early. Take a T-50 Torx bit (1/2" drive ratchet will give you more leverage) with you to a JY. Find an XJ and pull them out. They're a little harder to get to if the seats are still in the Jeep, but not so hard it can't be done. Someone on the Forum refers to these type items as "pocket parts", not that I would know what that means.

Team Cherokee - but you'll pay dearly for them, sold in sets for XJs. Alternate - JY run for 4 door XJ parts.

Not exactly MJ related, but my bride bought me a 12 ton hydraulic press for my shop. And it will be used to work on my MJ, so I guess it qualifies.

54Bobby - the gasket is #8 on the diagram above. It fits between the downpipe and the catalytic converter. Autozone, Advance Auto, NAPA, O'Reillys, etc. have them for $2 to $4. Advance Auto - Walker PN 31519, Fel-Pro PN 60292

Manager of industrial pump sales for a large, multi-line (electrical equipment, compressors, blowers, and pumps) distributorship. Also, a journeyman machinist (in a previous life), a certificated (but not current) private pilot, and a not-too-bad amateur mechanic. Most important jobs - husband of the same beautiful woman for 51 years, father of two daughters, and grandfather of three grandchildren, all strong Christians.

Soft Brake Pedal After New Parts And Bleeding
Keyav8r replied to Rymanrph's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Can one of you mods pin this thread in the DIY Projects section so it can be found again? I want to re-bleed the 88 before I sell it and at some point I plan to do the booster upgrade on the 91. No way I'll remember all of this and probably won't be able to find it with the search function. -
Need more information. What was your oil pressure at the time? Did you check how tight the filter was/is? When was your last oil change? In what direction was the oil blowing? How large was the stream? Almost has to be the filter. I don't think you could build enough pressure in the oil pan to blow an oil stream through the pan gasket as pressure would vent through the PCV system. I blew a lot of oil on the floor when I started my 88 after a RMS, oil pump rebuild and pan gasket job. Forgot to check how tight the filter was and when i revved the engine oil blew out between the filter gasket and the housing. Take the filter off and inspect the gasket and the face of the housing and look for a split in the gasket or a groove across the housing face. A leak from the filter would probably be in a horizontal plane (spraying toward the frame rail, firewall, block or radiator) Another possible leak path is the o-ring between the filter housing and the block. Those get old and hard and could crack. A leak from this location would most likely be in a vertical plane (spraying parallel to the side of the block). Usually leakage from this area is more weepage than a spray or stream.

Wheel Bearing Or U Joint?
Keyav8r replied to ftpiercecracker1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The wheel bearing could still be tight but have a bad ball or roller (chipped or flat spotted) the makes noise when it is side loaded. You might not even be able to feel it when turning it over by hand.- 7 replies

- strange sound

I used the "old" TPS instructions on my 88 and had no trouble following them. Since then I've put a new timing chain set in the truck. Don't know if that should have any effect on the TPS adjustment, but I'll put a re-check with the new instructions on my "to do before I sell" list.

Open Header On A Newly Rebuilt Engine
Keyav8r replied to comanche1989's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
We drove an Olds powered roadster with short stacks without breaking anything. Admittedly, we only drove it about 1/2 mile each trip -down the drag strip and back up the return road. -
Running Lights Don't Work?
Keyav8r replied to Jrwhite3230's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Somewhere on this forum there is a download of a 88 MJ FSM and I believe it has the schematics. I have it on my laptop. PM me with an e-mail address and I'll forward it to you. -
Look like you would have to do some bodywork on the fenders to make it fit. I believe I saw a post somewhere on the forum of an MJ with this front end. Don't know where and it may have been before the forum makeover. If that's the case, it may never be seen again. I'm neutral on the look at this point. Guess I'd have see one in person to decide.

Ditto to onlyinajeep726's comment!

The Lowe's tool boxes are available in pink or lavender, according to the sale sign I saw there today. Would have called it purple but I guess women have more colors in their mental palette than guys do.

I've been on the forum for less than two years and during that period I've never seen an offensive post from you. Frustrated? Yes! But still a good bit kinder than I would have been and everyone who knows me knows I'm a gentle soul (LOL). Sounds like someone needs to (a) pull on their big boy panties and (b) stop multi-commenting on every topic. Seeing 47 responses from one person on a thread gives me a case of red a$$. Keep the tips coming!
