  1. I don't see how you can pass this one up after taking a look at those seat covers!
  2. The easy way to partially accomplish what you're asking for is to have each member include their location (city & state) as part of their avatar (as shown in Peet's and mine) or at least somewhere near the beginning of their post. This would cut out a lot of those "where are you located" posts.
  3. I think this is the first time I've seen a full photo of your diesel MJ. Looks lie a sweet, solid ride. What are your normal shift points and what RPM do you run at cruising speed (65-70 mph)? OP - sorry about the thread jack but I just had to ask. If you get down to AL you can try my 91 4.0 AX-15.
  4. Is it the crossmember you need or the AX-15 specific trans mount? Will a later model auto trans cross member work or is it specific to the AX-15?
  5. Ah, yes, I undstand now. Just as I must consider if It was actually JFK who was shot. And, if Hitler really committed suicide or he living in Argentina. And, if the sightings of Elvis working at 7-11 are accurate. And, if anyone actually believes a President's birth certificate could be photoshopped.

Actually saw it covered in national network news in a moderately fair manner. The parents of one of the shooting victims made a statement to the effect of not letting special interest groups take away our democracy. I grieve for the loss of her child and for other victims of senseless violence and the acts of mentally deficient or radical politically motivated individuals. Locally we had a young man out jogging killed by a group of gang-bangers because they "were bored". Our democracy (actually a republic) confers certain constitutional rights on the citizenry. One of those is the right to bear arms. Therefore, I do not consider those who demand to retain their constitutional rights as special interest groups. The underlying problem is lack of enforcement of laws already on the books. There is nothing to be gained by dis-arming legal gun owners and a great deal to be lost. Look at the pre-history of WW2 in Germany where citizens were dis-armed and one of the most sadistic dictatorships in the history of the world flourished. There are other examples, such as the USSR. I personally do not carry everywhere I go because I am a law-abiding citizen and guns are prohibited on some sites I visit (such as power plants, steel mills, government facilities, etc,). I respect their regulations and the reasons behind them. However, as a concealed carry permit holder, I will continue to own firearm(s) and carry when I deem it is needful. Don't take my rights away to avoid offending someone who disagrees with or mis-interprets the constitution on which this great nation is founded.
  7. Oyagi, your last sentence arouses my curiosity. For what reasons do you think the date should be remembered?
  8. Thought I had found you one today. Local Pull-a-Part got in the second MJ in the two years I've been going there. Passenger side taillight was trashed. Driver side looked good until I got it off. Part of the back of the housing at the lower tailgate side of the taillight was broken off, a triangular piece about 1-1/2" along the side and bottom. I'll keep an eye out for your taillight, but I don'y see many MJs in JYs around here.
  9. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong, but jpnjim's photo shows the flow going through the hose from the thermostat housing, splitting to go into the top connection on the pressure bottle and to the lower heater core tube. The hose connected to the water pump shows flow from the upper heater core tube and from the bottom of the pressure bottle going towards the water pump. That's how I installed the hoses on my 88 but I haven't driven it enough yet to see how well it cools.
  10. You would weaken the unibody structure to some extent. How much? Can't say for sure. Consider the C channels as the top of a boxed frame rail. You still close the top of the box by welding in new floor metal (if you weld it to the lower part of the "frame rail". But the floor metal isn't as heavy as the C channel metal and you would be giving up some of the vertical side of the box (an inch or so, I believe). The front part of the channel that runs parallel to the door tapers out between the seat support and where the floor pan turns up. I believe some of us with heavy rust may have left that portion off, but zi definitely would replace anything from the seat support channel towards the back of the cab (including the seat support channel). If you don't replace that seat support channel your seats won't mount correctly. Some of the moderators and/or more experienced members may want to chime with an opinion.
  11. I hunted for the safe place I put my sun visors when I took the head liner out. After I bought a set at P&P, I found them the next day.
  12. But the link doesn't work, just tried it. The photo is on the first page of the random informative pictures thread.
  13. http://brackmann.org...ep/miscinfo.htm This is the link shown for the hose photo.
  14. The hose arrangement Don shows (which is a whole lot cleaner than mine) is reversed from the way the hoses run on my 88. The hose from the thermostat runs to the lower heater core connection and to the pressure bottle. The hose from the water pump runs to the upper heater core connection. There is a photo of the hose arrangement in the DIY section under "Informative Pictures Thread".
  15. If you're talking about the C channels on the floor - one long one runs parallel to the door and one short one runs from the long one to the door sill - you can't buy them unless you go to a JY and cut them out of a Comanche (or maybe a Cherokee). Or, you could fabricate them. Look under the truck and you'll see that they align with the unibody structure and provide structural support.
  16. I've seen the $15K MJ in Nashville. It's in good condition, but nowhere near being worth that much money. Interior has some issues and paint job is good but not great. The salesman I spoke with said it is the dealer owner's personal truck. He really doesn't want to sell it, but if someone is nuts enough to cough up almost &16K he might part with it.
  17. Put the transmission in neutral, remove the bolts that hold the shift lever in the tower, then pull the shift lever out of the transmission. Clamp the lower part of the shift lever in a vise (being careful not to put any burrs or scrapes on it - maybe use wood between the vise jaws and the shift lever). Put a block of wood against the lower end of the square section and hit the block with a hammer. You can put the boot over the lower part of the shift lever and knock the upper part back on. At least that's the way it worked on my 88 BA-10. Not sure if it's exactly the same on the AX-15, but it should be close.
  18. Could someone translate the translation? It looks like there has to be some dead space between where the front of the bed was and where it is now. If I were to try this, I'd chop the front of the bed, extend the whole cab and have a break between cab and bed. But, I wouldn't do it! Gonna be some wrinkled up sheet metal as soon as he gets into a little flex situation.
  19. Ditto on speedbleeders! One man brake bleeding at it's best (with the exception of pressure bleeding).
  20. Unfortunately, you're probably right Jim.
  21. The description says Direct Replacement OE Style Complete Rear Back Slider Tinted Glass Assembly.... And says that the photo is of a J truck back window that is used to show what the glass looks like. They do reference some OE part numbers, so if tint/no tint is an issue I'd suggest a phone call or e-mail,for clarification before you order.
  22. Great stuff, Jim. I took my grandson up when he was about 4. When we got back home he told my daughter about the man on the radio talking to Poppa. Buffalob's right about treasuring every minute. Our youngest granddaughter is 16 so we've got to wait for great-grands to have babies around again.
  23. Did you get them? They are fairly large files.
  24. PM an e-mail address and I'll send you the 88 FSM and 88 Electrical Troubleshooting Guide
