  1. As Obi-wan Kenobi once said "Look deep into my eyes. You do not need the mud flaps. You must send them to Keyav8r immediately"!
  2. Bummer! But, if they're able to "scope" it, the recovery isn't too bad. Easy for me to say as it isn't my gall bladder. My mom(in her mid-seventies), my niece (mid-forties), and my boss (early fifties) had the surgery with short recoveries. My niece went on a cruise (pre-booked) a week after she had hers out. As Geonovast indicated, their can be some dietary restrictions, hopefully not as severe as having to give up bacon. It is of the major food groups.
  3. Yep, I definitely lost the thread. Looked all through the forums and couldn't find it. Ordering a 91FSM is on my list of things to do and I just bumped it closer to the top. Saw some on ebay earlier, just didn't pull the trigger. Thanks for leading me back to the first post
  4. Eagle - Thanks for the ohm ranges. One step closer to the solution. But, as we know, with MJs one step can be the beginning of a long journey Geonovast - Excellent suggestion. Has to be easier than pulling the pump and sender. If needed, a replacement cluster would have to come from another 91 or 92 MJ, right?
  5. I thought I had posted this but can't find it on the forum. If I understand it correctly, the fuel gauge senders on 91& 92. MJs are specific to those years and to MJs. The gauge in my 91 doesn't register the fuel level but I have seen it move a couple of times. So, I'm trying to determine how to diagnose the problem. Tach, oil pressure and temp gauges work, but the volt meter and fuel gauge don't.. I assume the sender will have to be removed from the tank to test it. Hook the leads up to an ohmmeter and move the float arm through its travel and watch for a change in reading? What should the ohm range be? Is there any way to test the gauge? And is the only replacement another gauge cluster? Am I right that there are no sender options for the 91 & 92 MJs?
  6. If I understand the subject correctly, the fuel gauge senders in 91 & 92 MJs are specific to only those years and only MJs. The gauge in my 91 doesn't work, although it has moved a couple of times since I got the truck. I believe I read that the signal polarity is reversed from earlier years. Is there any way to test the sender while it's still in the tank, on the truck? Is there any way to test the gauge? And, are there any gauge clusters that will swap in? Does anyone repair the senders?
  7. How much?
  8. Would the sticking also cause it to accelerate? I'll have to get some of the vacuum tubing also as I broke the fitting trying to get the hose off. One more item on a short punch list.
  9. Rich told me he had experienced a problem with the cruise control (locking on and accelerating and not releasing) on the '91 I bought from him. So, obviously I had to see if I could replicate it and I did. On the interstate at 70 mph, I switched on the cruise and the truck starting accelerating. Flipped the cruise off, kept accelerating. Stepped on the brake, kept accelerating. Pushed in the clutch and the engine revved way up. Had to cut the switch off and coast to the shoulder. Re-started and the engine revved way up. Shut it down and removed the vacuum line to the cruise module, re-started and the engine revved way up. Shut it down and unplugged the electrical connector, no change (I'm thinking that's just for the indicator light?). Finally disconnected the throttle cable from the cruise module and everything is normal (except the cruise still doesn't work correctly). Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
  10. Thanks. Didn't want to spend that much but may have to do that to get it running and sell it.
  11. What got that dipstick's panties all wadded up?
  12. 88 MJ w/air - Does anyone have part numbers and a source for the three short heater hoses at the firewall. One is a short straight hose, one end 5/8" inside diameter, other end 3/4" inside diameter, goes from the tee to the upper heater core tube. Second is an L shaped hose, 5/8" inside diameter both ends, goes from the valve to the lower heater core tube. I could probably just use 5/8" hose and bend it for this one but would rather have the formed hose. Third is also L shaped, 5/8" inside one end, 7/8" inside diameter other end, goes from tee to the bottom of the pressure bottle.
  13. Door Weatherstripping - thicker. Some say itmay be too thick. i'll post a comment after I try it on my 91. Also, later model XJ weatherstripping.
  14. Thanks. That's what I'll go with.
  15. Thanks. Looks like all I can swap is the steering stabilizer and maybe the track bar. I'll crawl under the 91 tomorrow and take a better look at the other parts.
  16. Tried a search but got little result. The manual calls for 75-90 gear oil for my 88 2wd BA10 transmission. What are you using and, if different from the manual recommendation, why? I'll be selling the MJ later but I don't want to put the wrong stuff in the tranny for the next owner.
  17. Geonovast - how about commonality year to year? I've put almost all new front end components (track bar, drag link, tie rod ends, shocks and steering stabilizer) on my '88 2wd. Checking part numbers online, it looks like all the part numbers are different for my '91 4wd. By eyeball from one truck to the other, the parts look the same but I haven't pulled them off and laid them side by side.
  18. Where did you get the seats? What are they?
  19. Can't believe anyone would post an ad for a 19,000 mile MJ without photos!
  20. I believe you're right, Girs. That's the way all of my vehicles have worked - vent brings in outside air. For supplemental cooling when the engine is overheating, you turn on the heat and put the blower to max. Acts as an additional, smaller radiator.
  21. Line to your MAP sensor mounted on the firewall?
  22. I was kinda thinking zombies but figured if they haven't gotten to him yet, why make him worry about them!
  23. Might be the slider moving vertically with the bump.
  24. I've got the passenger side bracket and slider still on my old bench (I think, haven't really looked at in a while). You can have it for shipping if it will do you any good. May be a week or two before I can cut it off and pack it. PM me if you're interested.
  25. Adding a quart of a different weight oil would not have any effect on your idle. Check all your vacuum lines. You may have knocked one loose while working on the engine to firewall ground. Also check your plug wires since you were working on the dipstick ground.
