Anyone Know Where To Find Speedo Cable?
Keyav8r replied to tazer15's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I never could find anyone who had the Dorman cable. They all said it was discontinued. E-mailed Dorman but never got a response. Bought mine from Jackson & Son Jeep Parts - Talladega, AL. At the time he didn't have 2WD cables but advised the 4WD cablecis a little longer, same ends. It has threaded connector on the transmission end and the plastic clip on the speedo end. New Old Stock. Reasonable Prices. If you can't Google search him, send me a PM and I'll dig his number up. Takes VISA and MC, doesn't take AMEX. Pretty sure he will ship, but if not I could pick it up and UPS to you. -
Nope, with that dialogue your wardrobe should be bib overalls, plaid sport shirt with the sleeves cut off and a straw hat. Of course, you could tweak the look slightly with some grape juice stains to make it look as if you'd come there straight from the winery. Beautiful area you live in out there! We plan to return at some point for a longer visit.

Mid to high 50's F in Alabama today. Going into the 70s for the weekend. Of course, we have had a couple of devastating 1/4" to 1/2" snowstorms here, just about closed everything down ;-).

Shane - Just chill, brother. I'm relatively new to this forum but can tell you there are few people on here who will really get on your case. In contrast, there are a ton of guys who really know their MJ s&@t and readily share it. Don't walk away from a great resource over a difference in opinion on how something should be phrased. One thing I'm learning as I grow older (and I'm pretty well on the way) is that about 98% of the crap I've ever gotten PO'ed over didn't matter a few days later. The other 2% took a little longer, but still wasn't worth the time I wasted thinking about it.

Cruiser - I'll redraw it with notations on bolt and stud locations and post it. May take a few days as I have a conference to work through Tuesday. If I can learn how to add notes on a photo, I'll use a photo of my oil pan. Otherwise, I'll just draw it. is there a way to attach a pdf file to a post?
-
Thanks, gents! Cruiser, I'll PM my e-mail address for your diagram. Who knows when I might have to pull the pan again and have another brain f@&t?
-
Don - who should we report them to? Any of the admins/moderators or a specific person/ address?

Was anyone smarter than me and made a diagram of the bolt pattern on their 4.0 oil pan bolts? Most of them are short hex heads, but some have a threaded end to attach the splash shield and support sensor leads. My pan has been off much longer than my memory and I didn't sketch or photo the locations. Going to try to get it back on tomorrow and start on the exhaust manifold. Definitely will take photos of everything else I take off.

"ash Fouled" Spark Plugs...?

What did mountainman say? Couldn't get past the avatar. -
Manage the industrial pump division (and sell pumps) for an Alabama distributor?

Yes, there are transmission to shifter and floor to shifter and console to shifter boots. The Quadratec 52106.03 boot is not the correct floor to shifter boot for MJs, but I've heard it can be made to work. The correct boot for the floor is 53002864 (OEM). I bought mine from a local dealer for $36 (they had to order it) and it fits the floor contour and bolt pattern. I assume it works for both AX15 and BA10 transmissions The Quadratec 52109 02 is listed as for 89-99 AX15 transmissions. It measures about 2-1/4" O.D. and may fit an AX15 but is too small to fit the transmission to shifter location on a BA10. However, I was able to fit it inside the collar below the top plate that holds the shifter in place. Have not been able to locate the correct boot for this position on the BA10 and the old one is in pieces. The accordion pleated pyramidal boot fits between the console and the shifter. They are available from several sources.

Post a picture of the tailgate showing where the screws are missing. I've got a bent-up tailgate that may have what you need.@

Hornbrod gave the numbers for the front brake discs/ hubs. Bornindesert gave you the numbers for the D35 rear axle. For both the front and rear you will need two each of each part number. I've recently done both front and rear on my 88 MJ 2WD and replaced brakes at the same time. Next step is the 96 XJ booster.

Forget the power supplies. I'm thinking permanent solution, so i'm staying with the 8 lb. sledge hammer (less potential for collateral damage than with a 9mm or 12 gauge), and a new computer. Sledge hammer control is similar to gun control - use both hands, steady grip, and keep your eye on the target. And, of course, always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (for sledge hammer - gloves and safety glasses, for 9mm or 12 gauge - ear plugs).

I carry a spare key for DD Silverado in my wallet. Foolproof, right? NOT! About a week or so back I went by the gym and didn't want to leave my wallet in a locker or gym bag, so I put it in the glove box, got out and locked the door with the button ............ with my keys laying on the center arm rest. Didn't think about it until i got ready to leave and couldn't find my keys. Luckily, home is only about 2 miles from the gym, so I just jogged over and picked up the spare set and jogged back. If you believe the part about the jogging, i've got some beautiful oceanfront property in Iowa to sell you. Called the better half who was just overjoyed to bring them to me and remind me about it several times. So, I'm considering the magnetic box - if I can think of a place to leave myself a note with the box's location.

Apparently my iPad don't know nothing 'bout spell check, either.

Ain't nothing beats a good ole 8 lb. sledge to vent frustration and relieve tension. But, to paraphrase Scarlet O'Hara's maid - "i bon't know nothing 'bout fixing no computers, Mr. Pete!".

Not pointed at you in particular, Alex. Hadn't noticed yours was missing. Doesn't matter because you're an admin and we all know admins have magical powers. Like making multiple posts disappear.

Not necessarily - They got them little blue pills now!

One way to look at it is that if they keep coming across the border North Americans can go down there and fill the vacancies in all of our manufacturing plants that were moved across the border under Free Trade.

Maybe this should be in The Pub section, but why doesn't everybody have their location shown below their name and avatar (or, in my case, their lack of an avatar)? It's not like the location is critical personal information and it would cut out people having to ask where the poster is located. My pet peeve for the day!

Jim, I feel for you brother! Can't count the number of times I've gone into a room and asked myself WTH did I come in here for. It comes to us all in time. Now, if I can just remember where I filed the pictures of how my MJ goes back together .........

Jackson & Son Jeep Parts - Talladega, AL - (256) 362-7772 NOS Jeep parts. I've bought a 4WD speedo cable and an exhaust manifold from him for my 88 MJ. Pricing as good as (usually better than) online stores. Takes VISA and MC, not AMEX. I believe he will ship. If he has something you need and won't ship, PM me and we'll work it out to get it shipped. He's about 45 minutes from my work.

Is it ready to use yet?
