  1. Uh... sad realization here... The lines in the middle look to me like they disappear around the corner. Also how the corner cap flares out as it extends back and the sharp line from the fender flare down... I bet there was more to it at one point.
  2. Anybody else notice what's up with the front bumper corners how they wrap around the fender flares?... and is that a spoiler I see along the rear of the roof? Neato.
  3. ^ This. I think it's cute too. Yup... cute. Think of it a stepping stone too. If Jeep is going to be advertising the kind of "go anywhere, do anything" type of vehicles like the Wrangler, then they have no choice but to offer smaller toy Jeeps to keep the name afloat. But that's just it, isn't it? The Jeep name has remained the same but as a manufacturer they aren't anything close to comparable to what they once were. Sure, we can all say that today's Jeeps aren't Jeeps at all and that the Jeeps of the past could run circles around them... or at least crawl circles around them. You'd be right! I couldn't agree more, but to keep the name going they also have no choice but to change and adapt to what sells in today's market and if that means that they need to sell small Fiat knock offs with the Jeep badge on, then so be it. I'd rather see the name continue and let the engineers dream and play once in a while to create some awesome rigs!... even if it is to tease us with fabled "potential future developments". It really comes down to the name though. What's more American than the Jeep name? There's so much more than just the vehicles that they produce even if said vehicles aren't even produced here. Someone had to put that vehicle on a boat... someone had to sail the boat here... someone offloaded that boat... the vehicle get loaded on to trucks... trucks need to be driven by people... other people work at the fuel stations to power those trucks... someone unloads them... sells them... services them in the future... and so on. Even at the end of the vehicle's life, there's someone in a salvage yard that dismantles and sells whatever they can to keep like vehicles on the road. But, what about the company aside from the name? The parent company keeps bouncing around and changing hands but that American Jeep name still lives on. I think there's too many of us who expect great things from our auto manufacturers and I'm no different. You bet I'd like to see Jeep start cranking about comparable vehicles to what they did in the past! For that same reason, I wouldn't go out and get a brand new Jeep because I'm in the same crowd that doesn't consider a new Jeep really a Jeep anymore. I'm still hopeful though! Here's my mental "connect the dots": Fiat is in bed with Chrysler. Chrysler called it quits with the Comanche and later the Cherokee killing off what so many people are still bitter about. Our final huzzah from Jeep was created when AMC still owned the name forcing others to think that Chrysler is really to blame for today's "Jeeps". AMC had some fantastic engineers that tried driving the company to success that Chrysler later bought up. AMC used much of the same engineering in their other models including cars. AMC cars were produced well before our Comanches and Cherokees. Jeep has to conform to modern standards to keep other models available leaving them no choice but to start producing SUVs on car platforms. Car platforms have shown still somewhat capable with today's Jeeps. There's the threat that Jeep might start producing cars. Cars with 4wd is all sorts of cool. In my eyes, we're just starting to come full circle to what Jeep was so close to during the AMC days. What else was produced during the AMC days? This: I say bring it on! I can't wait for Jeep to pull the trigger on a vehicle that they actually consider a car! Even with the vehicles that they've put out in their recent history... Patriot... Renegade... great! Now take one of them, lower the roof line, and call it an Eagle! Good job Jeep on keeping the name and all those American jobs going!
  4. http://comancheclub.com/topic/42184-your-poser-pics/ ... already happening.
  5. Totally. I've watched this five times now and I still catch myself yelling at the screen! "Sand bagging? @#$% you, Max Jones! Maybe you just need to step it up in the qualifying rounds!" :fs2:
  6. Got an upgrade from DirectTV and can now watch online videos up on the big screen. Just HAD to watch it again!
  7. Have you ever had a truck that just found its way to you? Sure, we've all bought a vehicle that we did a bunch of research on... drove a few... and decided that one was better than another and made a deal. But what about those that we pass messages back and forth and try not to get too excited about only to be left in the dark? "Do I send another?" "Do I assume that it went to someone else?" "What if something terrible happened?" "What if it sold to someone who won't appreciate it enough as much as I would've and I end up seeing it in a salvage yard a few months from now?!" "What if?!... What if?!... What if?!..." Myself, I just love it when everything works out for the best! Even if things seem grim, you can't help but keep at it. You wait by the phone. You gratuitously check your messages. You try and keep yourself occupied but in the back of your mind you just know that things were meant to be. Read the build thread here! Remember That One Time?... Tell Us Your Best MJ Story ● The best story is of me getting the truck. I was getting ready to turn sixteen, so that meant that I would be able to drive on my own (no parents backseat driving) and was looking for a car or truck. I had $1600 to spend on a vehicle. So I hunted on craigslist trying to find a vehicle. thought I found it. It was a Mazda mx-3, it needed work (wanted a DD project to work on with my dad). wasnt to bad, went out to look at it and was ready to buy it, he said $1000 and you can have it. So I went home and pulled my moms 68 AMX off the trailer so we could put the Mazda on it the next day. When I woke up the next morning, I was getting ready to go pick it up, then I got a text from the guy selling it saying that he couldnt sell it because his wifes cars computer fried and that was the only other means of transportation. On my way home my mom told me that maybe buying that car wasnt meant to be. After all that I saw a jeep comanche listed in Ozark, Mo on Craigslit for $1000. I emailed the guy to see if he still had it, and if i could look at it since I would be in springfield (Just north of Ozark) in a few days for a martial arts tournoment. No reply for three days. Then right when I was leaving the tournoment, I got a email saying he still had it, and I could look at it that day. I emailed him back and asked him where it was located. Got nothing back. Went to eat waiting for a response. Nothing. By now my mom was tired and wanted to go back home, I asked her if we could atleast drive to Ozark for a few in case he emailed me back. We drive down there and waited in a flea market parking lot for about 35 minutes. Got nothing back. Right when I was putting my phone down to tell my mom lets go, there it was, getting ready to turn. I was told my mom to follow that truck, she thought that it wasnt the same truck based on the pic and thought that I was insane, but I knew that was it. So we followed him, for 5 miles to his house. When he parked my mom said you can ask him if he posted it on craigslist, she didnt want to get in trouble for stalking. The boy was staring at me and his dad was loading a desk into the back of a truck. I asked his dad if he was the one sellin the Jeep Comanche. he said yes and wanted to know how i knew. I told him I was the one emailing him about it. He then wondered how I found it, I told him that I saw it driving and followed it. The kid that drove it looked at me and said, You followed me? I told him yes and talked to them about the truck. And the guy said that it was fate finding the truck. The reason he couldnt email me was because they were moving and the internet was messing up. (they were selling the truck because they were moving) I looked at the truck and it was what I wanted. The guy said that I could buy it and he would hold on to it while I ran back to Joplin to get the money , if he could use it to move some furniture to there other house in Ozark. I said deal. Went back to joplin and grabbed the money and ran back to Ozark, My mom was the only one that could drive it at the moment because of it being a standard. And she wouldnt drive it during the day since it was 103 degrees and no A/C so she drove it at night. When I went back to pick it up, the kid that drove it was sad to see it go. They handed me over the original keys (both sets) and it was mine. The pic of it in front of the garage next to the pool wall was the first pic I took of it, that next morning. I wanted a project, and I sure got one. I had to wait 3 months to drive it by myself, so most of the time I just sat in it and listened to the radio in it. Then I got my license, and it was amazing to drive. CC is Awesome!... Why Do You Think So? ● The fact that it is here. The info I have gained from everyone has helped more than you could imagine, So thank you for everything! ●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●● Chase, I think it's great what you've done with your '86 over the short time that you've had it. The back story behind it outstanding and you've made quite the impact here over the past year that you've been a member! It's great to see new, young members that jump in and fit so well along side the rest of herd. Thanks for being here. Thanks for appreciating your truck. Most importantly, congratulations on a job well done! -Ben This post has been promoted to an article
  8. Risen from the bowels of CC! Anybody have any new information on this? Not sure why but I got a bug to make my wall hanger more than just a dust collector. Again, what I'm after is some good pictures of how the factory brush guards mount. I understand that they bolt on with the factory tow hook brackets, so even some pictures/measurements of those would probably help me out. Thanks brochachos!
  9. Not mine. The truck belongs to Mnkyboy. I want to say he had to have the center up higher due to the trans tunnel. Otherwise, I'm sure they're just sitting on modified frames. I'm hoping he chimes in to connect the dots. Anyhow... I think they look great!

  12. Time to bring this one back up?: http://comancheclub.com/topic/28725-anyone-here-who-barely-grows-facial-hair/
  13. I really dig this truck. It's not all that over the top, but the function and form of it really makes for a neat rig! Hat's off, sir and great build so far.
  14. I like it when people put in the ad that they want a certain price then immediately after say that they'd take less. :hmm:
  15. Right click... save as awesome.
  16. Nice. Exact same setup I've been thinking about for the last year or so. Nice to see it'll work!
  17. Planning on another set of Treadwrights or something else? After running them for a few years now, how do they wear and what's been your overall opinion on them?
  18. Disgusting. Just disgusting. I can never get over the condition of some vehicles in "junk" yards down south. :fs2:
  19. Truck is still looking great!
  20. Fixed it for you, Pete.
  21. Yup: Do some looking around here. There's plenty of other threads on using rear ZJ springs in the front to lower a MJ. I think there was only one or two members who actually posted anything on the outcome though. Maybe you could finally settle things with some good pictures!
  22. Sorry to disappoint, Don... returned them months ago. What I remember though is that I would've had to make up about an inch worth of clearance from somewhere. At the time, I really didn't want to deal with it and Monroe had their "buy four get whatever free" rebate going on. Being that these came as a package of two shocks, they wouldn't let me use the rebate on them... even though I technically bought four shocks. The story ends with me returning these and using Sensa-Tracs in their place. Still, I bet others would still like to see what it'd take to get these on a LWB. GO FOR IT!!! :wrench:
  23. I honestly think it'd be possible, but you'd have to fiddle with things a bit. Like you stated before, probably bend a little more on the lip of the fuel tank to make some room, but I think you'd need to loosen the straps on the tank and shifting things forward too.
