ZJ = '93-'98 Grand Cherokee. I'd pick a set from a salvage yard before buying new. For one, it'd probably be cheaper (which I'm all about) and second, even if they don't get you as low as you'd like you can go old school and start cutting the spring. I'm sure many here would shy away from cutting coils (sure, plenty have done it, but it still doesn't make it the best solution), but for that matter you could cut the coils you already have. It will affect spring rate and whatnot, but a cut coil is a cut coil regardless if it came from the rear of a Grand Cherokee or from what's already in your truck. If you go that route, the it turns into a guessing game. Only cut a half coil off from the spring at a time. That way you can sneak up on it instead of just jumping and over doing it. -

I used autozone 2inch blocks n yea Home Depot diy lip lol. Could find anything else to make it with. Really wanted that red comanche race car lip but can't find it I'd go the same route that so many VW guys go when making up a DIY spoiler use a spoiler or the plastic lower portion of a newer bumper. Maybe mid '90s Explorer or something similar. As for the real deal, unless you remove one from a SCCA truck there really isn't any other options. Might be one leftover floating around out there, but highly doubt that guy would be willing to give it up. :peek: I like the look of your truck. You should really put together a build thread. :thumbsup: -
Very cool. I'm a big fan of Wes Anderson films and this definitely has a similar feel to it. I like it!

Small fortune?... off of a Jeep site?... I think you're forgetting one major problem here. Raise your hand if you consider yourself a cheap-skate. :waving: Yeah... me too. You're probably right. If I crank out some of these, I'd only sell the adapter frame. Too much liability in just about everything these days so if I've got my hands on less parts, the less that things could potentially be any of my fault. Pretty much just a fancy piece of stainless... that's what I would offer. If the buyer were to choose to put some barb fittings in it, cut up their fuel sender, install some fuel hoses, and install it using a fresh o-ring and locking ring then that's totally up to them. :D He's in Minnesota, not Ohio. Well... the Super Bowl is on, but what am I watching tonight (twice, actually) that really puts me on the edge of my seat? How about a race that happened in '87? I just found this and I just can't get enough of it! The bumping and drafting is just like Tommy described it! That, and it's nice to put a face to Max Jones... the rival that John Archer spoke so fondly of in his stories of trading paint in the days of Jeep Motorsports. Just about jumping off my couch during the whole thing... even though I knew who'd win right from the get-go! Always amazed when I stumble on something new to me through my search for more SCCA knowledge. Even more of a joy for me to watch a race right around my home stomping grounds! Enjoy!!!

I’m sure that sounds all too familiar to most of us here on CC. This month we celebrate this type of automotive decision making process! Remember That One Time?... Tell Us Your Best MJ Story ● I have had my MJ since January 15th, 2013. It started life as a basic ’86 MJ, housing a 2.5L and AX4. It ran but wasn’t reliable enough to drive as it had some issues. A few months of it sitting in the garage, I decided that given I had a donor XJ, I would tackle a 4.0L swap and swap in an AX-15. That process started in June of 2013. Long story short, after spending countless nights in the garage and getting some serious grief from my wife, I was finally gifted with the fruits of my labor. On October 10th, 2013, nearly ten months after purchasing my MJ, she had new life and I got to hear and feel the awesomeness of that 4.0L purr under the hood. That moment was very gratifying and made it all worth it. My MJ is now my daily driver. CC is Awesome!... Why Do You Think So? ● I joined CC a few days before purchasing my MJ and in the year or so of being on this forum, I have learned so much from the members here. Everyone has been very helpful and never critical even when I may have said something stupid. It’s nice to be able to share such a strong love for such a relatively rare truck. You guys have built an excellent forum and the information here is priceless. ●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●● Shawn, you did what so many of us do just to keep our MJs on the road. You, on the other hand, went so many steps further than just a quick tune up and a fresh change of tires. How many wanted ads are on here of members looking for a truck… just not an ’86, right? You took what so many people would prefer not to start with and force-fed it new life! So, I’ll say it again that this month we celebrate those projects that exist just to keep a vehicle on the road. It might not be the easiest solution, but some of us just prefer a little more of a challenge to make sure they’re driving something cool. While your truck seems simple and not too flashy, it serves its purpose as a daily driver and as a truck. While it’s not quite finished, I think it’s great what you’ve done! Better Then Oem Suspenion In Rear

I tried these on a long box and the one hit the fuel tank. Could probably loosen the straps for the tank and shift things around to make things fit and play nicely together, but it'd still be pretty tight. -

Sorry, Jim. I had the package all wrapped up and to the post office. Went right up to the counter with this big ol' box... they weighted it... and I was asked the usual interrogation of what's in the box. Apparently you can't send any liquids through the mail... much less any liquids with the alcoholic persuasion. Post office lady- "Any fragile, liquid, perishable, potentially hazardous, flamable?" :no: Me- "No! No liquids at all, ma'am!" :idea: Post office lady- *while moving the box* "Okay... that'll be..." :hmm: Big ol' box- "CLANK! CRASH!" Post office lady- "Sir, your package appears to be leaking and sticky." :smart: Me- "Uh..." :oops: Post office lady- :rolleyes: Me- :???: Post office lady- :brows: Me- :huh???: Post office lady- :crossfingers: Me- "Sorry, ma'am... the wife is waiting out in the car." :help: Post office lady- "Uh... no, sir. The package to be sent..." :shake: Me- "Oh! What a relief!" :banana: Things got a little carried away. Sure glad we got that story straightened out!

Really interested in what you find with this. I want to say that the '96 XJ fuel sender is a different animal from the '95 and down. Have a look at THIS BUILD. Pretty much the same story as you... '87 MJ + '96 XJ.

Very cool, Jim! Once you have things cleaned up, could you take some closer pictures of how the accessories are mounted along with engine to trans adapter? I think I see some square tube brackets, but not quite sure what I'm looking at with the trans... adapter of some kind? Also, that exhaust manifold been modified?... very interested in what you've got going on here. :popcorn:
