  1. Thanks, dude! I've got another entire cluster lined up.
  2. Swapped out the speedometer with another this afternoon. Seems to be working? I caught it blink off for just enough time to kill the cruise control but it only did it once. Has to be something in the foil backing of the cluster itself. Hopefully it'll get me through the weekend. Got a little road trip planned with this truck that'll take me roughly 300 miles round trip. Never taken this truck that far from home since it's been in its current incarnation. Of course on my test drive tonight to check my speedometer situation something has to go wrong though, right? I mean, it only makes sense that I'm taking off with it tomorrow. My radio is a little sketchy and I don't think I've ever tried using the 12v outlet but that doesn't work either. Fingers crossed that's just the truck getting its pre road trip jitters out. :crossfingers:
  3. Find me a nice stock YJ and it's yours. :brows:
  4. I'll take that bet. Ha! Yeah... :wall: Betting has closed. I've got a speedometer that I need to swap in now. Problem is that it's out of a full cluster so it doesn't match. Plan is to swap the face to match the giant blue fuel gauge.
  5. Took me a just a few months... okay, a little more than a few... but I finally did something that was long over due. Now I've got the problem that the box is glossy and the rest of the truck looks like it was painted almost a year ago. Ah well... maybe I'll mix up a nice bucket of car wash with a nice handful of sand in it. :D Oh... and guess what I noticed when I was finished cleaning up? ... maybe I'll get to it in another year. :dunno: I've got a gallon of bedliner to throw at this thing too.
  6. Only $200?! I suppose, technically it's used. :D Still have the rear bumper?
  7. Aw, shucks... :)
  8. Preachin' to the choir. :thwak: Need to find a home for that fancy front bumper that's currently on the truck if you're switching to the ARB?
  9. What are your plans for the interior? Are you planning on making the Jeep gauges and heater controls play nice with the Dodge stuff or will you be fitting the Dodge gauges and heater controls into the Jeep dash?
  10. ... asked the waitress...
  11. Nice!
  12. Sorry, Pete... still not a band but they do seem to be getting more aggressive: BATTLE!!!
  13. ^Excellent idea! Been a number of times I've made up similar things.
  14. PM sent.
  15. Absolutely gorgeous black on black '86 for sale in MN!!! Perfect color combo? Check. Goofy vintage Jeep hub caps? Check. Undeniable old man vibe? Check. So much want right now... http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ram/cto/4548251327.html 1986 Jeep Comanche Pick-up Truck - $1950 (Roseville) 1986 Jeep Comanche odometer: 62000paint color : black type : pickupdrive : rwd title status : clean 1986 Jeep Comanche, V6, 2 wheel drive, 62k miles. This truck has almost no rust because it spent the first 22 years in Arkansas and has been driven very little since coming to Minnesota in 2008. There are a few minor things, but everything major is in fine working order.
  16. Thanks, dude! Poor thing doesn't get out as much as I'd like and the time that is does see on the road is not at all as I intended it when it was being rebuilt. Ah well... it's easier to keep clean that way, anyhow. :shake:
  17. Good to see! Just in case you forgot where your build thread was... here you go.
  18. I posted up in the thread for my '88 also, but the camper and the Eliminator got out to the local car show. Not much to report though... showed up, set it up, wind blew all day, then it got bundled back up and put back in the garage. I was really happy to see it all stay rock solid all day long what with the wind. Little dicey on the road on the way home though. Not much for weight along the bottom of the trailer so the center of gravity is pretty high. Probably need to figure out a sway bar for it to calm things down around the corners.
  19. Had a first for this truck today. Local car show was today so I figured it was a good day to take it and the camper out for a nice day on the town. It showed really well! Got a lot of good comments on it and had the same conversation over and over again that the camper wasn't actually a factory option. Had kind of a goofy spot that was way at the end of show, but I took up a little more space than most there. Ah, well... maybe next time I show it I'll get there a little earlier. No trophies either. There aren't any actual categories for this show. Pretty much everyone just lines up as they get there. She won $100 at the raffle at the end of the show though. Probably better than a trophy anyhow!
  20. So we've all been there, right? That bolt that's just a little too far around that corner to get to and a ratchet just won't cut it... or that crazy flat thing needed to open up the plug on a pipe cleanout... maybe you just wanted a bottle opener that nobody else had. In any case, some tools just suck and others are either super expensive or just unobtainable. Me? I'm more on the side of thinking that some tools are just too expensive for what I need them to be. Other times it's either late and nobody is open to get the right tool of just out of not wanting to drive all the way into town. Either way, I've made up some tools of my own that have been quite handy. Instead of ransacking my shop looking for everything, I figured I'd just post up stuff as I come across it. The latest are a couple real dusies that I've been using just about everytime I go out there. Mini anvil: Yup... it's a chunk of beam that I cut down to size. Really doesn't matter what shape it is though. All I use it for is smacking things around. Simple and to the point for what it needs to be. 8" bench vise: A bench vise is a real pet peeve of mine. First off, you could pick up a small, cheapie one every year that'll only get bound up and find new ways to get you all fired up. Sure, one could drop $600+ for a nice Wilton or pick up one used but still... good luck finding one for cheap as they never really wear out. Second, the dang handle on the end of them. Always flopping around... always in the way when the jaws are tightened down... sometimes you need to really crank down on something so you're tempted to use a "torque multiplier" and then just end up bending the handle so is doesn't even move like it should anymore... What I wanted was cheap, no dumb handle to get in the way, cheap, easy to maintain, and cheap. This was my solution. This is where everyone else chimes in. What neat tools have you put together to make your life easier?
  21. Last chance for the last chance. I was told that production is starting next week.
