What's your battery preference and why?
jeepdoggydogB replied to Comanche County's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ford makes farm tractors and family sedans.............and you point is? Apples to oranges. The one thing nice about the gel batteries is you can mount them upside down..........if you were so inclined. And they will work for a little while.........not matter what way you mount them. The Original poster brought up the Interstate, Optima opinions (apples to oranges) I only commented that they were made by the same company. Nothing other than that was my point (no black helicoptors or conspiracy theories involved). I agree with most here, Optimas and Intersates are costly batteries, I have owned both, great experience with Interstate, bad experience with an optima Yellow top that didn't last two and half years. I currently use cheap batteries from Autozone or Napa, the Autozone lasted me four years and is still providing strong starts a great battery for $50! -

Aren't Optima and Interstate made by the same company? http://www.interstatebatteries.com/cs_e ... optima.asp :dunno: -
I have the first three on Bluray, and to attest to my agedness I remember Madmax was released twice not just once in 1979. The first time it came out they dubbed the voices so the English was American, later after Road Warrior they re-released with the original Madmax with the Australian vernacular and colloquialisms. "What the molly F", "windscreens", and "mongrels to work with", and such, it was a much better release. I like these previews, it looks like they are using the original "Melbourne Taxicab cop car concept" of the original, and the Ford F150 is being replaced with the M715 which I think was used in "beyond Thunderdome". http://www.madmaxmovies.com/mad-max-bey ... index.html Outside of Madonna I think this will be a good picture, as Madonna will never be a Tina Turner (Beyond Thunderdome).

A little about the test, it uses Nitrogen and they place the device over your filler neck. I agree with JEFFN about the solution. The missive below talks about the $161 average cost to fix. I can totally understand where MJRemi is coming from, out here we pay for the smog each time it fails if it is a test only Station. Some smog stations sell a package that allows for failures for more $$. http://www.bar.ca.gov/80_BARResources/0 ... FETFAQ.pdf

If he starts leaving notes around the house you could be in trouble. My Cocker leaves me notes all the time called "doggy dos", the funny thing is the writing looks just like the writing on my "honey dos". :jump:

whats your thoughts on the GMC canyon/chevy colorado?
jeepdoggydogB replied to boardmanMJ's topic in The Pub
It is electric, and doesn't have the old feel of our MJ's, but I did a lot of research before I bought my MJ and the Frontier was a close second for me. -

Josh,That is the great thing about Nissan Frontiers, they are built right here in the USA by the good folks of Smryna Tennessee. -

If I had to do a midsize truck as a daily driver besides the MJ I would choose the Nissan Frontier. Lot's of used ones from 2005-2006 in the price range you are looking for. There are reliability issues for that truck. http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Relia ... l=Colorado -
Parking prake issues
jeepdoggydogB replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have the Dana 44 and my parking brake has always performed strangely. Like you I replaced everything including the cables. The brake holds the truck from moving forward, but does not hold as well in keeping the truck from going backwards. Admittedly I have an old Ohio truck and the rear axle brake back-plates have rusted pretty good, even though I have replaced the brake hardware. I was lucky enough to grab some rust free back-plates from Don (hornbrod) last year, and when the rear pads wear out I will tear into the axle assembly and replace the plates. Hopefully this will help with the brake holding. :dunno: -
Great looking Comanche!

Hello Fellow MJ Addicts, My 21 year old stock starter died and for expedience sake I installed a starter from WPS (World Power Systems) as it was the fastest delivery I could get. I noticed a very different sounding starter when I turn the truck over, it works fine, but the noise is like a cat passing a hairball. Is this common with newer starters? It is so annoying and I paid so little that I am tempted to order the Chrysler replacement starter and shelve this one for an emergency. TIA Dog

Steering wheel swap (Missing parts)
jeepdoggydogB replied to Zenobian_84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
X2 you are missing the small aluminum? housing that actuates the horn. I have no proof, but from my experience different years (I got my wheel from a CJ according to the PO) had different heights. I had to add .25 inches of metal to get mine to honk properly. So aside from the metal "button" missing from my collection, is there anything else that's stopping me from mounting the steering wheel on my truck? Reason I ask is because my current wheel has been pretty much taken apart and driven as is with everything off and I'm starting to get tired of the bare-bones look  Also, is the bottom part (3 prong opening) necessary to mount this type of wheel? Or can it be mounted without it? Mine went on without the metal part on the bottom left of your picture, the metal shim (top right) went in the white plastic holder (bottom right) as far as I can remember. -

Backwards fuel gauge?
jeepdoggydogB replied to pwrliftin's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The RE 3.5 and Hell Creek MT with 3 inches of lift both actually gave me around 3.75 inches of lift after they both settled. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions  -

oops I meant 91-92, If your MJ is the four cylinder that very well might be your issue. Check out Don's (Hornbrod) posts in this thread. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15936&p=163194&hilit=fuel+sender#p163194 -

Maybe the Fuel sender in your vehicle is out of a 91-96? -

It could either be a bad video card or for whatever reason the universal video card driver will not work with higher resolution. You can purchase a new card on the cheap, but with deals on older computers on ebay and craigslist I wouldn't bother throwing money at this and buy another junker. http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Pavilion-a11 ... 2c620e2e9e
