  1. Outstanding example of a Comanche, one's will, and the innovation it produces. I especially love your "captains chairs". I am definitely putting that mod on my list of "to do's"
  2. Outstanding work Pete! Count me in for two..one for the man cave, and the other for the man office.
  3. That's older vehicles to fail :fs1:
  4. @Hitman72, Listen to Mike the emissions folks here will not tolerate removing any vacuum hose that affects smog E.G. idle, fuel mixture and so forth. I am up for a smog in August of this year and have no idea how much more stringent the new Star stations will be. Some are saying by design they want to fail older vehicles as they remove the old caps on what you have to spend on your vehicle to make it compliant (the old referee stations).
  5. Mike,Have you considered Hell Creek? 130, and 189 for front and rear springs (not and add a leaf).
  6. Looks like they set it up for Windows 8 and IE 10, for those with earlier OS and browsers try firefox, chrome or safari.
  7. Agreed the two timeout errors and the failure of Colin Kaepernick to run the ball into the end zone in the end lost the game. Considering one of the best defenses in football got taken from a 28-3 lead romp to a 34-31 squeaker I think the young niners will be trouble in the future. As for my house there is an old saying wife happy home happy!
  8. Yup, but which one will be less painful is anyone's guess.
  9. My wife and her entire family are from and many still live in Baltimore....and I am for the Niners.
  10. Thanks Everyone.....originally I thought I was going to be spending $5000 on a new engine, but this information has been very helpful!
  11. Like the title says, I had high idle with an exhaust smell in my cab and a loss of engine oil with excellent compression and no smoke from the tail pipe. Folks told me to check for an exhaust leak in the manifold, check for oil leaks into the valves, check O2 sensor, IAC, TPS which I did and guess what I found? The plastic tube with rubber ends that connects the crankcase to the bottom of the airbox had a leak. Had large amounts of oil residue in the bottom of the airbox and a hole in one of the rubber ends of the plastic tube to the airbox. Replaced rubber end, topped off oil and no more exhaust smell in the cab or high idle. I am trying to figure out why oil is spewing into the airbox, as I have heard of this happening with pre 91 Jeeps and the PVC, but not 91 + Jeeps.
  12. LOL! car critics are more and more becoming fashion critics.
  13. What a beauty $10,550 and the reserve is still net met.
  14. Wow Ben! What an excellent piece of Comanche history! Congratulations on keeping this legend alive.
  15. Don, I used a product to move most of my applications from one computer to another (win 7 to win 8) called laplink with no problems. You can also for $19 more "ghost" an image of your current Windows 7 Home Premium. If you could "ghost your current image" then use the anytime upgrade to Windows 7 Professional you will at least have an image of your old Windows 7 Home.
  16. Sorry Pare Don, Microsoft is out for blood these days after loosing so much of the market share to google and apple. If it isn't too late you might consider upgrading to Windows 7 Professional from the link I provided.Joe
  17. Don #4 is exactly were I am with this, if they do not ask for an XP install and activation key I would go for it, but from what I am reading in the blog on the link I provided it seems that you will be asked for an XP activation key. If you spring for the Windows Professional you won't have to worry. Either way I know you will get your old CAD application to work, but as for the $$ it is anyone's guess. I wish I could be of more help my friend.
  18. Hello Don,It means you will still need to install windows XP on the virtual machine as if you were installing it on a brand new hard drive. Bill Gates wants his $$ so if you go with Windows 7 Professional you will not have to deal with the XP license. I hate this business but everyone has their hand out, including Sun and Larry Ellison with Linux and its applications, and Mr. Jobs with Apple....there are few places to run to as opposed to the old days.
  19. Don,I have not had any experience with that particular product, but I found the link below interesting concerning licensing issues with VM-lite. http://www.sevenforums.com/virtualization/21307-vmlite-alternative-windows-xp-mode-impl.html If you have an OEM Non system builder copy of XP with the activation keys the above link would be irrelevent to you. HTH Joe
  20. Hello Pare, For the cost of another hard drive you can upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium (standard from Dell) to Windows 7 Professional for less than $100. Windows 7 Professional will let you configure certain applications to run in XP mode. Keep in mind that XP mode gets complicated when you need your application (in this case CAD) to access certain peripherals like printers, plotters, ETC. I have owned many Dells and like Apple their BIOS or (locked apple OS and IOS) system possibilities are very limited to tweaking for dual boots, CPU clocking ETC. For Appple you have to purchase their software called parallels which requires very robust hardware for an Apple Micorosft dual boot. At my work we are expereimenting with a touted feature in Windows 8 that allows running your windows 8 computer from a USB pen drive on any computer, but I do not believe it would work for your old XP computer. http://www.evaluesoftware.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1159
  21. I got an I7 Mac Mini server (used) 2011 with 16 GB of RAM 1 TB hard drive, and an OWC 2 TB Mini Stack connected via firewire. I am using Aperture for picture development and have been quite impressed with it. Sir Sam has always provided us with such stunning photographs which helped me got off my behind and record some of the lovely places we go in life and take for granted. Thanks for the inspiration "Sir Sam".
  22. I have been running 3.73 gears with a 4:1 transfer case with 31 inch Cooper STT's for seven years. I commute about 50 miles a day and the bad of this mud tire is that it might last 35,000 miles if balanced and rotated properly. So like you despite how incredible of a mud, snow, ice, and rain tire the STT has been, in a few months I am switching to another tire which happens to be the Cooper AT3 which boasts as a 55,000 mile tire. I have a lift that netted me a little over 4 inches, and I would be lucky to get 32's under it without rubbing. I can't imagine 33-35 inch tire with just 6 inches of lift without major trimming. http://us.coopertire...rt-Utility.aspx
  23. Thanks Don, I have been waiting to go with the new 4 AWG mains and 175 amp fuse system. My new alternator is 140 amps. http://www.kelleyswip.com/ http://www.kelleyswip.com/price.html http://www.jeepforum...rnators-770940/ I am not certain how great the alterstart alternator is, but I picked it up three years ago for a very reasonable amount of money.
  24. Hello Fellow Comanche addicts, I recently have been getting an error code 41 when I first fire up the Comanche in the morning when the temperature is below 50 degrees. I have a DRB II reader that throws the code...actually it throws the description "field generator unable to swith properly" which I can google to find it is an error 41. I already know it involves cleaning battery temrinals, alternator terminals, and the possible replecement of the alternator and cables. Being the Comanche nut I am I have some Kelly's work in progess cables ready to replace my old ones, and a 140 amp alternator ready to replace the old 90 amp. I could replace them easily, but like most of us I hate wasting money, is there something much simnpler that I am missing?
  25. Sorry for your loss Jim, he was too young. Prayers for you and his family. :(
