My wife's oldest was stationed at Hurlburt for 5 years, we stayed on base as guests which was quite interesting. He is now stationed in Belgium but maintains a home in Navarre. I've been to the panhandle many times, driving through you'll notice you are driving from one restricted area to another. The military presence is everywhere. https://militarybases.com/florida/ The Coast Guard, of course. https://www.cnic.navy.mil/regions/cnrse/installations/nsa_panama_city/about/tenant_commands/us_coast_guard_eighth_district.html There is also a Marine base in Pensacola https://www.trngcmd.marines.mil/Units/Southeast/MATSG-21/ You'll find the Army in the panhandle as well https://www.eglin.af.mil/About-Us/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/810637/7th-special-forces-group-a/ The Redneck Riviera, or as I call it, Alabama South. You should get out more, really. And, like whether or not cars rust in FL, why would I lie? It's a serious question, why would I lie about anything? I won't tell you about the NE, don't tell me about FL.

You realize that from the crotch of the panhandle to Pensacola is basically one huge military base, right?

Yes of course.

Hot hot hot! Comanche crank no start

A 'street' elbow has a male threaded side and a female side, maybe that's what I did, I used two elbows. But yeah, either of those plugs will work. -

There's a plug where you see the nipple meeting the TB. Just be careful, it won't want to come out. -
Yes, I can. Is it yours?

All I see is half a Camaro.

If I needed one I would support this group buy. Guys who could use a new headliner should support this seller. Reaching your pockets and pull this off.

FL prosecutes, you don't work in FL without a FL license. One of my customers owns several cabins here in Gatlinburg, they are from Houston and they lost their home in the flood two years ago, they just moved back in last month. They said that only 40% of Houston has been rebuilt. There is a national shortage of labor and materials, lead time on kitchen cabinets in Houston is 6-8 months if you can get cabinet at all right now. We are only 50% recovered from the fires here from two years ago. NC will take years to recover. Those in FL with near total losses will not recover any time soon, maybe a year or two. And material prices are at a premium right now.

Several years ago I took to flipping XJs for a year, I flipped one a month. It's not as easy or lucrative as you might think. Sellers do not like to deal with out of the area buyers, you are a hassle to them. As a buyer you will know, or should know, a particular deal is yours or its not yours, it either 'feels' right or it doesn't, you'll pass on six for every one you buy. I took a ride back to Clearwater with a visiting family member, the only way I was getting back is if I made a purchase. It's stressful, the deals were not there for me, I had limited time and I had to use a borrowed car to look for buys. One seller sold out from under me while I was halfway to Atlanta. Sellers are not always available when you are in the area. 32 pics and 6 phone conversations........you travel, only to find out it's POS that you know will not make it home. Bought my MJ in Atlanta, tire blew in Murphy NC, I was forced to buy a set of tires from Walmart just to make it home as the remaining three would not make the rest of the trip. If you think you're going to fly to LA, uber to the sellers house, plop down a wad of cash and drive home in your dream XJ...........eh........probably not. Sounds like you have some money- There are professional hunters who send you a full inspection report and ship one that you accept, maybe that's an option. I know you are not flipping Jeeps, just saying I've had plenty enough experience hunting.

The question of how many Northeast or mid Upper Midwest Jeeps wind up in Florida that's a good question, have never really thought about it, they don't survive there very long, people from Florida despise rust, nothing we own rusted and we didn't want somebody else's rust, that's why I won't pay for rust. I don't know it may be that we detested rust as much as we detested the people that came from those areas unless you you've grown up and Florida you really have no idea what I'm talking about.

Live there 40 Years first 40 years of my life never saw a car rust because of so-called Ocean Spray it's just total bull$#!& it doesn't happen.

The $29 in airfare you'll save will be nothing to the amount of gas you're going to consume at $3 a gallon.
-
If the buyer wants to drive from Washington State or Arizona he could knock himself out I ain't I ain't flying that far and I ain't driving that far for a $2,000 car
-
Why in the hell would you go out west? FL, or just about any state in the SE. And yes I have, drive and drive, lots of miles. Sellers BS and pics don't always tell the truth. It's fun and expensive and time consuming. 4Xs are cheaper in FL as they are not necessarily necessary.

The only difference MIGHT be that the temp sender was not drilled and tapped, as the later temp sender was in the stat housing. This was not the case on my '98, mine was drilled, tapped, and plugged. I have a '98 engine with a '92 intake running as a Renix. Certainly, '88 connecting rods will have a different part number from a set of '92 rods from a set of '98 rods but you can set them side by side and they measure exactly the same. Vendors change, castings wear out, materials might change, engineers revamp, carbed to TBI to MPI===engine series change.........any one of 39 reasons why a part number will change over the course of a decade. It does not always mean that the part itself changed.
-
You are not going to change anything and I was not suggesting you change anything. Heads and blocks and internals are all the same. Just find a core. You are going to swap all your brackets and accessories and intake over to the new long-block. Just find a core. 92 up also gives you the aluminum valve cover you'll want. If you find a later model engine the only difference will be the crank snout and it's not a problem. Just find a core.

Best tires for off and on-road?

Nitto. -
OP, keep it simple. Find any core from '92 up. There is one change and when you find one report back and I'll tell you how to deal with the one change. You're going to build a long-block...........all you want is a core, find that.
