Are you sure it's a manual and not an automatic? :rotf:

I had a problem when my brake lights did not work. However, my running lights, turn signals and flashers all worked. I replaced the switch in the steering column. Problem fixed!

DOORS!!! How much for the doors? -
I have taken out the bedliner that has been in the MJ since the first thirty days. I am offering up to any member that wants it - FREE. You have come and get it. There are two cracks on the right side lip cover and one gouge in the floor. See pictures. Most of the attaching screws are gone or rusted. Thanks mountainman. Two of them are rock throwing distance from me, the last is 50 miles away. I'll stop by and talk with them. PS - LOVE the avitar.

Thanks for the comments. I am looking for feed back. It is true, most mechanics only change parts, not "repair" autos. Most auto repair shops deal in volumn. They cannot take hours/days of a mechanics time to work on one truck, when there is more $$$ to be made changing oil, replacing plugs, etc. With most of the things we use today it is easier to replace than repair. When was the last time you got your TV repaired or a printer? We have become a replacement society, not fix-it society. When I tell people my plans for the MJ, they ask why don't I buy a new truck. I tell them: "I love THIS truck." I did not think to look for a local "machine shop." But, isn't Jasper an instrustialized machine shop? The do one thing - rebuildiing auto parts. I want to keep the original engine block and head. That has the same benefit as machine shop, doesn't it? I was told that my engine will be separated from the production line. That reusable original parts will be repaired/cleaned up and put back on. Someone replied about "upgrading." I don't want to upgrade. I want to "restore" to original condition. That may seem anil, but I come by it naturally. I am a CPA. Keep the feed back coming.

I paid $26.50, before tax...but I did have to pay for shipping. Also, if it was not the correct part, I did not have to pay for shipping to return it (Thanks, Team Cherokee  I am still owed a credit.)

Not sure that one for the wrangler would work. It has that notch in it and also the hole is off center. Id be worried it would split pretty easy because of that. I could be wrong though. Fit perfectly on my 89. Screw holes even lined up. He's got a 4.0 too. I bought the same boot for the TJ from my local dealer. It fits fine. I had bend it to get the curve correct, but holes lined up. The one from Team Cherokee was not correct. It was 1/2" to large, did not have the notch cut for the 4wd lever, and the holes did not line up. Image Not Found

Mine blew its top on a hot summer day. I ended up purchasing new bottle and cap. I only used the cap, though. No problems since.

Door latch in between hinges...

Team Cherokee sells these parts. http://www.teamgrandwagoneer.com/parts/ ... d/810.html While you are ordering, get me two. ;) -
I have no experience with Jasper. It is just that when I mention Jasper to some people I get negative comments. Two mechanics I spoke to recommended Jasper compared with an on-site rebuild. Jasper does have a nationwide warrantee. Before I commit to it, I want to know others' opinions. So far, no one has bashed Jasper. Your experience with 210k on a Jasper is positive. My MJ has only 266k. Tim

This winter I am planning a restoration for my MJ. I have mechanic to perform the mechanical and a body shop for the exterior. My mechanic has suggested a Jasper reman. I am willing to spring for the extra $$$ and keep the original block and head. When I mention Jasper to other mechanics, I get a roll of the eyes and some uncomplimentary comments about Jasper. An internet search has yielded some negative comments, also. Many of the comments are the same: engines failing quickly and Jasper not honoring their guarantee. I didn't see any of the comments about the Jeep 4.0, mostly GM engines. Who has experience with Jasper, either for your MJ or any other vehicle? I would like to ready all comments, both good and bad. Are there other companies that you would recommend? For the trans (BA10/5), I will swap it through Glen Burnie Trans here in MD. Tim

Check your cat convert. I had a similar problem. I excelerated one day. Suddenly, it felt like it was going to die. It ran like someone was pulling me backwards. Could only get to 5/10 mph. Limped home. Mechanic said the internal parts of the cc came loose and blocked the exhaust. My $.02 Tim -
Emergency Brake release handle
87MJTIM replied to Virginia's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There was no picture of the part. Is this the upper cable - from the brake handle back to the split for the rear drums? My cable is pretty rusted. Something about the floor pan rusted trhough. Tim -
I saw a "for sale" on a green MJ last weekend. It is on Rt 340 just south of Charles Town, WV. That is in the far eastern panhandle of WV, near the MD/VA line. I was riding in with my brother so I could not stop to get more info. I thought I saw another MJ behind the building. Good luck finding one.

Death wobble and some clunking noise..
87MJTIM replied to MichiganDuck's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you can wobble the wheel while it is up on jacks, it is probably the bearings. You should change both L and R together, since they're probably the same age. PS - get the wheels balanced while you are at it. -
"Unicorn" Update.....The current state of the 4-92 built MJ.

I think the resto looks great! (not my choice in color). How about the headliner? what did you do for that? -

I live in Frederick County MD. I know of two other MJs near me and have seen on the road a third. First, Yeagertown Rd. A black MJ. Are you out there? Second, Woodville Rd, Unionville. A maroon Pioneer. It is parked in the driveway. Don't know if it moves. I saw a gray MJ turning into Spring Ridge. We waved at each other. If you are out there, Hi, again.

I am having trouble with my new (#3 for the MJ) radio. Sometimes I get no sound. It has power - the lights display, the clock keeps time, the station presets are kept. The fuses are all good. The wires are good, because when it does work, it works fine. I am thinking it is the high quaility, top of the line, Wal-Mart radio :ack: I bought. I sometimes pop off the face plate, hit the rest button, then re-program my stations and it works...for a while.

A few "floor" questions...
87MJTIM replied to acfortier's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had purchased the one from TeamCherokee. I turned out to be the wrong size. They wouldn't give me a refund. On another thread here gave me the info for the proper inner boot for my MJ. It fits a 97+ TJ Wrangler. The MOPAR part #52078970AC. Quadratec.com lists it on the website. I bought at my Jeep dealer. It was a little more $$, but I didn't have to pay for shipping and if it was the wrong size, returns would be easier. I did not have to return it, thankfully. -
I learned that if you pull out the radio, be careful re-installing it. I was going nuts trying to figure out why my fan stopped working. I knocked the power cord off the heater/AC control
