  1. My vote: U-joints. Just my $0.02 (that's US, not CA) ;)
  2. 4x4. I live in Maryland - The Peoples Republic of...
  3. Unfortunately, it is on a 90 xj. So the slave is internal.
  4. Would the bell housing of a BA10 fit an AX15? or will I have to get the BH for the AX15?
  5. You may have seen this picture of the Cherokee trying to cross the boarder from Mexico. http://news.msn.com/us/smugglers-try-driving-over-us-border-fence-get-stuck
  6. I am not able to PM you. What am I doing wrong?!?!
  7. Are the tans still available? Can you send them east to MD - 21774?
  8. Are fuse blocks compatable across years? Mine is an '87. Will later years be the same?
  9. Try one inch of black electrical tape. Cover over the offending light. Problem solved. :laughin:
  10. Does the whole MJ shake up and down? or does it shake like the engine is missing? If the whole MJ shakes, I would recommend looking at the U-joints. I had and '89 XJ that did that. During exceleration the XJ would shake violently. I would pull over and stop, (let my heart rate get back to normal), then drive on. It wouldn't happen again for awhile. Just my $0.02.
  11. I want the pedestal, though. Mine are rusting at the bolts.
  12. Thanks for the replies. Another thread on CC.com reports that the mounting brakets between MJ and XJ are NOT compatable. Oh, well. Ashame on the cruise control. I would really like to get mine fixed.
  13. I found a 92 XJ in the JY. It was damaged in the right front fender. Other than that it was in great condition. It has a 4.0 auto. I am wondering how much of the interior is compatable with the 87. Front bucket seats and mounting bracket? Behind/under dash electronics? Fuse block? Cruise control?
  14. Since the new forum has started, I am not getting email notifications when someone replies to topics I have replied to. I haven't changed my settings. Were the reply settings reset to a default?

    Laserdisc!

Song of the South!?!? Can you burn it to DVD? I'd love a copy.
  16. Dejavu. Radio (#3 aftermarket) has no sound. Display works. Keep time. Keeps station presets. Dash lights don't work. When I turn on headlights, factory clock goes blank. It does keep time, though. I looked at the electrical manual to trace the wiring. I found all three - radio, dash, clock - run through a relay that is tied to the light switch. The relay is behind the left kick panel. I had removed the LKP when I replaced the park brake cable. I had to squeeze the wires back in to re-install the LKP. I must have damaged the relay  . When I can get to it, I will look at the damage. I hope I can fix it.
  17. Can I drain out the old DOT-3 then refill with DOT -5? Do I need to change the master and slave? Can I flush the system? With what?
  18. http://comancheclub....ctrical-manual/ The thread has a link to the complete wiring diagrams for an '88 MJ. I have an "87 and found that the wiring is the same. Whenever I have an electrical problem, this is what I turn to. I downloaded it and printed it out. Hope it helps.
  19. Restoration. Have the engine and trans rebuilt. Floor boards and left side bed panel. Headliner and visors. Lots of other stuff....
  20. Check on old thread for the electrical manual. Look in the DIY Project section for the link about Electrical Manual. http://comancheclub.com/topic/12083-electrical-manual/ DOWNLOAD IT AND SAVE IT!! I did. I have an '87 also, but the wires are the same as the manual.
  21. I just replaced mine for the 7'. NAPA had it...in stock! They also list the 6' as an in stock item. Replacing the cable wasn't hard. Stripping the interior - remove the drivers seat, remove interior trim panels and lift up carpet - was time consuming. The old cable came off of the pedal mechanism easily, but I could have used a 3rd hand. I had to cut the cable at the adjuster screw. The screw was so corroded I had cut the screw also to get the adjustment nuts off. The replacement cable did not come the nuts, so be sure not to throw those away. Or buy replacements.
  22. Man, what a coincidence! Today I changed the oil in my MJ for the first time. Not before it needed it. It has only been 25 yrs and 267k miles. Here's my issues. When I drained the old oil, only about 2 qts drained out (what I did not spill in the driveway, but that's another story). When I pumped in the new oil, I only put in about 2 qts. The owner's manual states the trans take 7.3 pints - that's almost 1 gal. Had I lost that much oil over the yrs? Did I not put in enough? The fill plugs are not high enough on the trans to fill it to the top. My trans, a BA 10/5, has two plugs on the right side. The forward plug was easiest to access for pumping in the new oil. Was the correct plug? (After I was done, I started to remove the back plug and oil started to drain out. I closed it up tight.)
  23. Its a door chime module. The main solid state circuit is an extension of the fuse box.
  24. My wife and I are original owners. She bought it just out of college in '87 from Antwerpin Jeep/Eagle. She drove it as her DD until '89 when we bought a Cherokee. It became my DD until '97 when I got a TJ. The Cherokee is gone, traded for a Durango in '99. The TJ is gone :( when our daughter came along in '00. But the MJ lives on!
